... Coastal Flood Watch in effect from Sunday morning through late
Sunday night...

The National Weather Service in Newport/Morehead City has issued
a coastal Flood Watch... which is in effect from Sunday morning
through late Sunday night.

* Location... areas adjacent to the southern and eastern portion of
the Pamlico Sound. Ocean side locations from Cape Hatteras
north.

* Coastal flooding... water levels 3 to 5 feet above normal
possible for areas adjacent to the Pamlico Sound. For the
beaches water levels will be 2 to 4 feet above normal... mainly
from Cape Hatteras north.

* Timing... late Sunday morning through late Sunday night.

* Impacts... ocean overwash with beach erosion will be possible
along Highway 12 from Cape Hatteras north to Kitty Hawk and
Duck. Moderate sound side flooding could also impact roads and
properties for areas near the southern and eastern Pamlico
Sound.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A coastal Flood Watch means that conditions favorable for
flooding are expected to develop. Coastal residents should be
alert for later statements or warnings... and take action to
protect property.

The National Weather Service in Newport/Morehead City has issued
a high wind watch... which is in effect from Sunday morning
through late Sunday night.

* Winds... north to northwest 35 to 45 mph with gusts up to 60
mph.

* Timing... Sunday and Sunday night.

* Impacts... gusty winds may blow around loose objects and create
adverse driving conditions for high profile vehicles.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A high wind watch means there is the potential for a hazardous
high wind event. Sustained winds of at least 40 mph... or gusts of
58 mph or stronger may occur. Continue to monitor the latest
forecasts.
