... Coastal Flood Advisory in effect until 1 PM EST this afternoon...

The National Weather Service in Wilmington has issued a coastal
Flood Advisory... which is in effect until 1 PM EST this afternoon.

* Location... locations bordering along the lower Cape Fear River
from downtown Wilmington southward.

* Coastal flooding... water levels are expected to peak around 6.1
feet MLLW at the downtown Wilmington river gauge. The coastal
flood threshold for shallow flooding along the lower Cape Fear
River is 5.50 feet MLLW.

* Timing... shallow flooding will occur between 900 am and 100 PM
today... with high tide occurring around 1045 am.

* Impacts... around a foot of water will cover parts of battleship
Road and U.S.S. North Carolina Road. Water will spread out of
storm drains across portions of Water Street. Water will spread
onto portions of River Road south of cape Boulevard. Portions
of canal drive of Carolina Beach will observe water across its
roadway.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A coastal Flood Advisory indicates that high tide and High River
levels from the recent rains will combine to generate flooding of
low lying areas along the lower Cape Fear River from Wilmington
southward..
