Nowcast | as of 11:54 am EDT on August 31, 2015

Southerly flow through a deep layer and high atmospheric moisture levels will allow scattered showers and storms to develop along the East Coast sea breeze from southern Brevard County to Vero Beach... Port Saint Lucie and Stuart from mid day into early afternoon. Additional showers and storms are expected to increase in coverage across interior portions of east central Florida including Lake County and Metro Orlando in the mid to late afternoon hours. The main thunderstorms hazards will be cloud to ground lighning...locally heavy rainfall amounts around two inches and gusty winds to around 40 mph. Storm motion will be toward the north at 20 to 25 mph. Locally heavy rainfall may cause minor flooding of low-lying and poor drainage areas later this afternoon. Areal Flood Watch
Statement as of 4:04 AM EDT on August 31, 2015

... Flood Watch remains in effect through this evening...

The Flood Watch continues for

* east central Florida... including
Brevard... Indian River... Lake... Martin... Okeechobee...
Orange... Osceola... Seminole... Saint Lucie and Volusia counties.

* Through this evening.

* Deep tropical moisture over the region will continue to create a
threat for heavy rainfall across east central Florida today.
Additional rainfall up to 3 inches will be possible.

* Heavy rain may create significant flooding of streets... urban
areas... and low lying flood prone areas especially where showers
and storms move repeatedly over the same areas.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.
