Watches & Warnings

Wind Chill Advisory, Winter Weather Advisory
Issued: 3:14 PM EST Feb. 8, 2016 – National Weather Service

... Winter Weather Advisory now in effect until 10 am EST
Wednesday...
... Wind Chill Advisory in effect from 4 am Tuesday to 10 am EST
Thursday...

The National Weather Service in Peachtree City has issued a Wind
Chill Advisory... which is in effect from 4 am Tuesday to 10 am
EST Thursday.

* Locations... for far northeast Georgia... mainly east and north
of Chatsworth to Dawsonville to Cleveland.

* Hazard types... accumulating snow... areas of black ice... and
dangerous wind chills.

* Accumulations... 1 to 2 inches of snow with isolated higher
amounts possible at elevations above 2500 feet.

* Timing... through 10 am Wednesday for snow/lingering black ice. 4
am Tuesday through 10 am Thursday for dangerous wind chills.

* Winds... west northwest 15 to 20 mph gusting up to 25 mph.

* Temperatures... mid teens Tuesday morning... then low teens to
upper single digits early Wednesday and Thursday with slight
increases during the daytime.

* Wind chill readings... near 5 degrees early Tuesday... 5 below to
5 above early Wednesday... and slightly lower early Thursday.

* Impacts... snow/ice on roads will create hazardous driving
conditions. Even the lower elevations of north Georgia will see
the potential for slick spots on roadways due to black ice
Monday night and Tuesday night as any lingering moisture on the
roads will re-freeze. For wind chills... frost bite and
hypothermia are possible if precautions are not taken.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means that periods of snow
will cause primarily travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow
covered roads and limited visibilities... and use caution while
driving.

A Wind Chill Advisory means that very cold air and strong winds
will combine to generate low wind chills.
This can result in frost bite and could lead to hypothermia if
precautions are not taken. If you must venture
outdoors... make sure you wear a hat and gloves.
