The National Weather Service in Wilmington has issued a

* Flood Advisory for...
east central Brunswick County in southeastern North Carolina...
southwestern New Hanover County in southeastern North Carolina...

* until 500 PM EDT

* at 203 PM EDT... Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause minor flooding in the advisory area.
Up to two inches of rain have already fallen near Kure Beach.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Carolina Beach... Kure Beach... Snows Cut... south Masonboro Island...
sea breeze... Fort Fisher and Myrtle Grove.

Additional rainfall of 1 to 2 inches is expected over the area. This
additional rain will cause minor flooding.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Advisory means river or stream flows are elevated... or
ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.
Do not attempt to travel across flooded roads. Find alternate routes.
It takes only a few inches of flowing water to carry vehicles away.

southwestern New Hanover counties...

At 237 PM EDT... a strong thunderstorm was near Fort Fisher... or near
Kure Beach... moving south at 10 mph.

Winds in excess of 40 mph and pea size hail are possible with this
storm.

Locations impacted include...
Oak Island... Carolina Beach... Kure Beach... Caswell Beach... Bald Head
Island... Yaupon Beach... St. James... Southport... Fort Fisher and
dosher Memorial hospital.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Thunderstorms can pose a variety of threats including gusty winds...
small hail... cloud to ground lightning... and localized flooding. It
is recommended that you remain indoors until the storms pass.

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm... and may cause
localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.
