Issued: 4:20 AM EST Feb. 6, 2016 – National Weather Service

... Coastal Flood Watch remains in effect from Sunday morning
through late Sunday night...

* location... areas adjacent to the southern and eastern portion
of the Pamlico Sound. Ocean side locations from Cape Hatteras
north.

* Coastal flooding... water levels 3 to 5 feet above normal
possible for areas adjacent to the Pamlico Sound. For the
beaches water levels will be 2 to 4 feet above normal... mainly
from Cape Hatteras north.

* Timing... late Sunday morning through late Sunday night.

* Impacts... ocean overwash and beach erosion will be possible
along Highway 12 from Cape Hatteras north to Kitty Hawk and
Duck. Moderate sound side flooding could also impact roads and
properties adjacent to the southern and eastern Pamlico Sound.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A coastal Flood Watch means that conditions favorable for
flooding are expected to develop. Coastal residents should be
alert for later statements or warnings... and take action to
protect property.

... High Wind Warning in effect from 9 am Sunday to 4 am EST
Monday...

The National Weather Service in Newport/Morehead City has issued
a High Wind Warning... which is in effect from 9 am Sunday to 4 am
EST Monday. The high wind watch is no longer in effect.

* Winds... north 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 60 mph.

* Timing... Sunday into Sunday night.

* Impacts... sporadic power outages are possible due to the
saturated soils from recent rainfall making trees more
susceptible to falling. Strong winds will blow around loose
objects and create adverse driving conditions for high profile
vehicles.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A High Wind Warning means a hazardous high wind event is expected
or occurring. Sustained wind speeds of at least 40 mph or gusts
of 58 mph or more can lead to property damage.
