Watches & Warnings

Wind Chill Warning
Issued: 10:19 AM EST Feb. 12, 2016 – National Weather Service

... Wind chill warning remains in effect from 5 am Saturday to
10 am EST Sunday...

* locations... Livingston... Ontario and Allegany counties.

* Timing... from late tonight through late Sunday morning.

* Winds... northwest 20 to 30 mph.

* Temperatures... between zero and 5 above overnight. Highs zero
to 5 below Saturday. Lows 10 below to 15 below zero Saturday
night. Between 5 below and 10 below zero Sunday.

* Wind chill values... as low as 35 below.

* Impacts... wind chills and temperatures will reach dangerously
cold levels. The frigid conditions could result in frozen
pipes... and will quickly lead to frostbite and hypothermia if
you are not properly dressed.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A wind chill warning is issued when a strong wind will combine
with cold temperatures to create dangerously cold conditions for
exposed skin. The wind will make it feel like it is 25 degrees
below zero or colder for several hours. Those planning to venture
outdoors should use common sense and dress warmly.

If you lose power and plan on running a generator... make sure
that the generator is located outdoors and is properly
ventilated. Space heaters should also be properly ventilated and
used only if they are operating properly. Make sure snow does not
block exhausts and fresh air intakes for high efficiency furnaces
and water heaters.
