Winter Weather Advisory
Issued: 7:05 PM EST Feb. 8, 2016 – National Weather Service

... The Winter Storm Warning has been replaced with a Winter
Weather Advisory in effect until midnight EST tonight...

The National Weather Service in Taunton has issued a Winter
Weather Advisory for snow... which is in effect until midnight EST
tonight.

* Locations... central and eastern Massachusetts... as well as Rhode
Island.

* Hazard types... snow.

* Accumulations... additional accumulations of 1 to 2 inches
between 7pm and midnight... with storm total snow accumulations
of 6 to 10 inches.

* Timing... steady snow will continue through 9 PM and then diminishes
with minor accumulations thereafter.

* Impacts... travel will be slow on any unplowed or untreated
surfaces.

* Winds... north 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Weather Advisory is issued when snow and/or ice is
forecast to develop in the affected areas... but accumulations are
expected to be light. Any snow or ice would result in slippery
conditions on untreated roadways and sidewalks. When
temperatures are below freezing... motorists need to be especially
careful on bridges and overpasses where slippery spots can easily
develop.

Coastal Flood Statement
Issued: 6:39 PM EST Feb. 8, 2016 – National Weather Service

... Pockets of minor coastal flooding possible during the evening
high tide...

* location... vulnerable Rhode Island shoreline as well as the
Bristol County Massachusetts shoreline.

* Coastal flooding... pockets of minor coastal flooding.

* Timing... between 7 and 9 PM.

* Impacts... a swell moving onto the South Coast will be enough to
cause some spotty minor coastal flooding about Narragansett Bay
and splashover along exposed shorelines from Fairhaven to Point
Judith... including the Newport South facing beaches.

All tide heights are relative to mean lower low water.
Time of high total tides are approximate to the nearest hour.
