Winter Storm will continue impacting eastern New England through Monday night with a combination of heavy snow and strong winds, resulting in dangerous travel conditions. In parts of southeast Massachusetts, blizzard conditions are possible along with tree damage, some power outages and coastal flooding. As of late Monday morning, winds had gusted up to 57 mph on Nantucket Island and coastal flooding was reported in several locations along the Massachusetts coast.

... Blizzard Warning remains in effect until 7 PM EST this
evening...

* locations... extreme southeast Massachusetts including Cape Cod
and the islands. This includes the cities and towns of
Brockton... Plymouth... Mattapoisett... Chatham... Falmouth...
Provincetown... Vineyard Haven and Nantucket

* hazard types... heavy wet snow and strong winds will likely
result in tree damage and scattered power outages. Strong
winds and heavy snow will create blizzard/white-out conditions
at times.

* Accumulations... snow accumulation of 8 to 12 inches along with
localized higher amounts up to 14 inches possible.

* Timing... snow will fall heavy at times through late afternoon.
Snow intensity will begin to diminish by early evening... but
localized bands of moderate to heavy snow may persist into the
overnight hours.

* Impacts... considerable falling and/or blowing and drifting
snow. Visibilities will become poor with whiteout conditions
at times. Those venturing outdoors may become lost or
disoriented... so persons in the warning area are advised to
stay indoors. Heavy wet snow and strong winds will result in
tree damage and scattered power outages.

* Winds... northeast 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 60 mph.

* Visibilities... one quarter mile or less at times.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Blizzard Warning is issued when sustained winds or frequent
gusts over 35 mph are expected with considerable falling and/or
blowing and drifting snow. Visibilities will become poor with
whiteout conditions at times. Those venturing outdoors may
become lost or disoriented... so persons in the warning area are
advised to stay indoors.





Coastal Flood Advisory

... Coastal Flood Advisory in effect from 10 PM this evening to 2 am EST
Tuesday...

The National Weather Service in Taunton has issued a coastal Flood Advisory...
which is in effect from 10 PM this evening to 2 am EST Tuesday.

* Location... Plymouth County coast from Hull to Plymouth. North
and east facing shorelines of Cape Cod. North and east coasts of
Nantucket including Nantucket Harbor.

* Coastal flooding... areas of minor coastal flooding are likely
around the time of the evening high tide.

* Timing... within an hour or two of the high tide around midnight
or between 10 PM and 2 am.

* Impacts... some vulnerable shore roads will likely be
flooded... perhaps up to a foot deep. Shorelines exposed to the
open ocean may experience considerable splashover from leftover
swells. There will be some continued beach erosion... especially
along Outer Cape cod and the east side of Nantucket.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A coastal Flood Advisory is issued for minor coastal flooding of the most
vulnerable shore roads and/or basements due to the height of the storm
tide or wave splashover. The majority of roads remain passable with
only isolated closures. There is no significant threat to life and
any impact on property is minimal.
