drainage areas in...
western Duval County in northeast Florida...
southwestern Nassau County in northeast Florida...
this includes the city of Callahan...
southern Charlton County in southeast Georgia...
* until 545 PM EDT
* at 344 PM EDT Weather Service Doppler radar indicated heavy rain
from thunderstorms across western Nassau and Duval counties. The
storms were developing westward. Hourly rainfall amounts range from
2 to 3 inches near Callahan to Ratliff. Interests along County Road
115 and Highway 301 should exercise caution. An additional 1 to 2
inches are possible in the advisory area with storm total amounts
near 3 to 5 inches possible.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause elevated levels on
small creeks and streams... and ponding of water on country roads and
farmland along the banks of creeks and streams.
Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the
roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross
safely. Move to higher ground. Remember... turn around dont drown.
Stay tuned to NOAA Weather Radio... commercial radio or television
stations... or cable television for any updates or flood warnings. For
additional information... visit the National Weather Service in
Jacksonville website on the internet at weather.Gov/jax.

Heat Advisory
... Heat advisory remains in effect until 7 PM EDT this evening...
A heat advisory remains in effect until 7 PM EDT this evening.
Very hot temperatures in the upper 90s to around 100 degrees
combined with dewpoints in the 70s will result in heat indices
near 110 degrees. A few locations will be as high as 110 to
115 degrees. Relief will occur wherever showers and thunderstorms
develop.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A heat advisory is issued when the combination of hot
temperatures and high humidities creates heat indices of
110 degrees or higher. The heat index is a measure of how hot it
feels when the effect of humidity combine with the temperature.
High heat index values can create dangerously hot conditions
where individuals may become critically exhausted if outdoors.
Drink plenty of fluids... stay in an air-conditioning if
possible... remain out of the sun... and check on relatives and
neighbors who may be sensitive to heat related illnesses.
