Leavin' in the mornin' for a couple of weeks.
(Loud cheers off)
I will be able to peek in now and then on the Samgal, Tloml's Toshiba or some other terminal so don't you be postin' nothin' about weather, global warming, politics or religion here or I'll have to push that dreaded Ignore button and the touch screen does not recognize a signal from most of my calloused fingers - I have to use a pinky.
Comments are always welcome.
I 'll be back in this chair in early April with bells on and if I thought it would help at all I'd tell you to behave---

Good connections:
We made the Black Ball Ferry this morning after failing to get on standby yesterday.
We got to stay in Washington State an extra night.
It has been a good trip but it's time to get back home.

MUST STAY IN THE SAME BROWSER !

OK here's the scoop:

Under the video you'll see where it says "Share." Click on that.
Then it will say "Embed." Click on that.
There will be four little boxes - leave the first one checked and then click on "use old embed code" too. Uncheck any others if they're still checked.
Then I always click on the smallest size 425x349. That's the size that the video will appear in the comment box. If it's too big, it won't fit into our comments boxes here.
Then right click in the code box and it will hi-lite everything in black and copy the code.
Come back to your comment box and right click over the comment box and paste that code in.
Then I always hit "Preview comment" before I actually post the comment just to make sure it looks OK.

It's Saturday! What are you doing at work?
I think SamGal is simply confused with all the frequent changes of WiFi connections lately. She slowed down over the last couple and won't let me log in to "Tengointernet" even though she claims to be connected.
I need more coffee so I have to post this, fold up the table, close the doors to the WC and get to the newly perked coffee pot.

Good morning:
SSSam:
Wilco on the congrats.
We spent some time in "The Museum At Warm Springs":
Twanat.
One thing I noticed in the gift shop was label on the heavy wool blankets: "Pendleton".
It's dawning clear to the east here at RV station #68, highways 26,84 and I5 are humming, passenger jets bonging out from Portland and the rail line is pretty close but Tloml is still snoring gently and I've got my coffee so all's right with the world!

SamGal has crashed.
Working on Tloml's laptop.
All good so far: RV upright, parked in Portland/Freemont RV with WiFi.
calpoppy:
There is a gen set in this rig but I can't justify the cost to drop it out and repair it. We have never needed it. most places we park have incoming electricity.

Weird working with Tloml's Toshiba after many months of imagining that eventually I would have gotten used to the SamGal but nothing is perfect and I'm still here.

Say hello to Ms T and her culinary son. And congrats to your own Ms T on her retiring self.
Am verrry envious to hear by the grapevine that you two will be visiting Pendleton.

One of the cool things on our Minnie Winnie is the fridge automatically switches from AC to propane. It senses when the electricity is on or off. It doesn't run on DC just AC or propane.

I hope you are all having a great time!

That's what the RV salesman told me the other day. I have a lot of ignorance when it comes to RVs! ;' )

Continued happy trails, ycd!

All batteries topped up now - there are two big engine batteries and one for the house slung under the bed/couch which is hard to replace. I brought another big battery and some heavy leads but I don't need to struggle with it now.
BriarCraft:
I'll check out Datapilot's blog but these two ladies, Tloml and Tyler, seem to have agreed on our itinerary and it is a fairly full slate for the next few days.
The 'lumberjack' from B.C. was no match for this tangled Fallen Oak though:
The chainsaw that arrived was in good running order but a bit too small and the local logger understandably was reluctant to have someone he had just met run his new saw. The tangled tree still stands over the garden and after cleaning up the safe fallen limbs we had a beer and decided to hire a real tree servuce.

Give a wave to DataPilot, who lives near Eugene.

I can't help but chuckle that you drive your RV all the way to Eugene and what do you do, but put a chainsaw to use.

Comparing the weather in Nanaimo to that in Eugene looks pretty much the same, too.

Deja vu all over again.

Just like home, eh?

I hope you are having a good time, regardless of the weather.

At least the you have a battery just for the RV, where the fridge wouldn't be pulling current from thr vehicle battery.

Continued good luck in your travels!

Went out to make coffe in the RV this morning and the house battery was dead. Without the battery the relay for the propane will not engage.
I sat outside for a while- hate bothering about in an unfamiliarr kitchen while threst of the house is sleeping - and tried to imagine why the battery would flatten.
The dawn lighted the fact that the shore power cord had become disconnected and once I plugged it back in and started the coffee I found that we had left the fridge set to battery power.
Mystery solved.
7.5°C , light wind and the rain has stopped.

Good morning:
Probably near our farthest south easting in Eugene, Oregon. We have our own ensuite, office and fairly comfy fold-out bed.
There's a big, tangled, oak snapped off up high with it's upper limbs stuck in the lawn. That should keep me busy tomorrow when a friend of our hosts is bringing
Chainsaws and some gear to bring the snags down.
I appologize for the poor grammar and spelling mistakes - I can't get used to the keyboard on Tloml's laptop and editing on the SamGal touch screen usually makes matters worse.
1.5° C., clear blue sky and no wind.

Like Poppy said, don't forget the duct tape. Between that, bubble gum, and a hammer, you can fix just about anything.

Take pictures and share your adventures when you get back, okay?

And try not to cause Tloml too much grief along the way or she might use the duct tape!

Have fun.

It's time to warm up the rig and give this terminal a much needed rest.

Tloml is watching the Curling Briar final and then it's bath and go.
calpoppy:
Thanks. I'll WUmail you if we get that far south. Got the duct tape and sunscreen - now if I could just find some rocks.

Renting vehicles for vacation is my favorite.. I think the game goes you should break atleast 3/4 of the rules that come in the rental agreement at some point on your journey..

Add to your list..food for the shrews.

Now I can say it:
Good morning Skyepony:
Thanks.
We'll be hugging the west coast and going as far south as we have time to travel.
We have driven rented vehicles around a number of other countries and the approach that works for us is: Less is more when it comes to prior planning.
Rocks (I'm still adding to my list)
- to leave in place of the ones we pick up
Kindling (for camp fires)
I was vacuuming behind removable panels in the RV and found a newspaper from Red Butt dated 2009 along with some seed husks and mouse droppings. Then I started vacuuming the engine compartment and there was some bundles of fiber pulled off the firewall and that mat that a lot of vehicles have stapled to the underside of the hood.
The cutest shrew in the world peeked out of that mat.
I asked my daughter (service manager for a local car dealership) what that mat was for and she said: "It's for the mice and squirrels that like to live in your car and chew on the wiring."
So I tore the mat off.
I don't know if the two shrews I saw are still in the vehicle or not.

Thoughtsteader:
It's too early to say good morning.
I woke up to write down the things I need to pack:
Battery and jumper cables
Vice Grip
Black electricians tape
Small tube of silicon caulking
Full set of screwdriver bits and small and large hand screw drivers of all regimes
Wrenches and Crescent wrench
Utility knife
Plyers
Reminds me of packing for the stint in Liberia - in those days you could fly with a "Box Cutter" in your carry on.
Good news is that I'm travelling in an RV so I can take just about anything I can think of - a spare RV battery would not have made it through security even back then.
Let's see:
Gum Boots
Slippers
Rain gear
Sun Block
Passport
Credit card
Obviously this is a work in progress so any suggestions are welcome.

Safe travels to you. I just learned the other day what the expression "with bells on" means, but I can't remember right now. It's got something to do with the pioneers and wagon trains... I'll see if I can ferret that out later. I don't even remember who told me about it.

We've got dandelions and redbud and pear trees blooming - I do believe that spring is doing its thing. Get out there and enjoy it!

Patrap is in a world of his own as usual.
Sandiquiz is hardly ever awake when we are.
Plapman is still thawing.
Skyepony showed up and Thoughtsteader stood in for shoreacres.
Tloml rants about the amount of time I spend here while she watches endless Curling.
It's all good!
