Sunrise was a deep orange this morning and the spiders have been busy around here lately.
I have not heard of any forest fires on the Island so I think this stuff is coming from the interior.
Time to phone my Mother and arrange a visit later in the week.

The concrete "Placer" just called: he is about 40 miles away and is waiting for another redimix truck.
So the upshot is: "Maybe tomorrow".
Concrete is wonderful stuff - I have spent a good portion of my working career wedded to it's forms and timing.
That was one reason I took interest in Weather Underground even though back in the day I found not much regarding local weather.
One "placer" we used years ago told me he had an ant hill he would consult to see if that day would allow placing and finishing a slab.
So far so good.

"Can't see the forest for the trees" today. Went to prep the work site for the concrete and finally phoned the concrete supplier to find out our pour was cancelled. Got the placer's number from the redimix dispatcher and we may still pour this afternoon - if things go well on the job he is on now. Oh well.
Har de Har!
Just got a phone call from a 705 area code and the recording starts out: "ATTENTION: YOU HAVE BEEN CHOSEN TO RECEIVE 2000 AIR MILES..."
Yeah, Right - click
If I had all the benefits I have been informed about lately I'd buy one of the yachts on Ylee's Cams or maybe just fix my boat.
I answered a phone call during an election here and the recording started about how I should consider voting for the "P.A.C" so I hung up. The goofy machine called me back and started the shpeel again. I started swearing at the recording, hung up and phoned the "P.A.C." phone number to get another recording. Can't remember if I could leave a message or not but my daughter and son-in-law and grand daughter were staying with us at the time while we built their house. They had heard me froth away at the recordings so the next morning there was a "P.A.C." placard stuck in the lawn.

The one I saw had a foot in diameter hole blown through the 1" plate steel floor. no survivors.

Ylee:
What are you doing up at this hour?
I looked at Wiki for Tent Caterpillar and there is an extensive article. Bag worm search came up with Bagworm Moth:

I don't know if bagworms and tent caterpillars are the same species, but they do pretty much the same thing; wreak havoc on trees!

Good morning Ylee:
That is a spider web. I could see the tenant in the dense part of the three door apartment but could not focus through with the iPod camera. I just went out to check (this web is on a potted plant on the sun deck) and could look in to one open tube - about 1/2 inch in diameter - and saw the front legs.
We have what we call Tent Caterpillars which build webs in trees around. Maybe similar to a Bagworm?

That last photo looks like a bagworm nest! Is that a spider web?

Morning Ylee: Your monitor is probably as good as mine.
I can't see my picture well until I upload to WU photos and probably should not have promoted that one.
I'm waiting for a photo of another type of web to be approved just now.

I'm afraid I'm stuck with a lousy monitor; all I can see is a faint line! I do like the one in the top photo, though!

It's definitely
"fly and spider season" here!
