I start a new post:
I should be working on the boat or having a snooze 'cause I'm working afternoon shift but this is a lot more fun:
Wunderground is - bar none - the link I use to get anything in "real time" sometimes real good - sometime a PIA.
'Course most posts are concerned with the Eastern coast of the "uninted"States which according to some are not actually all that uninted.
My military observer riding with me in Liberia kept on calling me an "American" I tried to insist I was something other: Canadian.
Then one night we had "Carried" a fuel tanker through many checkpoints from the border with Cote d'Voire in to the zone and some guys come to me (only white guy) and make a bunch of demands.
I'm all "Canucks can be trusted" - turns out they had heard news about Canadian troops screwing up in Somalia (Beladuian - '93?)
I had no news of that so I reported the incedent.
The team there said - more or less- "we are here attempting to help. We need our comforts and our Sat fax ((in those day there was only some U.S. navy Sat. system available and your ground "Sat C" was a few tens of thousand dollars to purchase - Sat M (phone)was next))
The use of the Sat system cratered my budget and my budget was what funded the project. The "walky talkies" tried to rein me in - "write some reports and whatnot" I was told.
Meantime the budget for the project got shifted sideways.
None of this information is "classified" (or even available anywhere).
Maybe I just "imagined" those months?
I'm sitting here debating whether or not to "Post this Entry"

We craned some beams into place today on a small "green roof" project. My big worry was the mortice and tennon for the king post 'cause that was the critical (showing)
beam/post juncture. All went well - the crane operator and I have worked together off and on for over 20 years - took me back to days past - we were builders - so I guess we still are.

So I looked back at old blog entries and there it is:
I can not get the images of the tsunami to rest - especially since the new ones show up now and then.
My house is about 200' ASL but some I have built are closer to sea level. We will not know any better than the folks filming the latest disaster how to deal with it but as Pat says we should be thinking and talking about PLANS.
