A warm front will be moving through the area over the next couple days. Then the low pressure itself should move somewhere in our area. This will bring a period of rain and thunderstorms to the area. Some of the storms will be strong to severe on Monday and Wednesday. The dynamics won't be great, but the chance for isolated large hail or a damaging wind gust is there. Heavy rain is also an issue from any storm that develops. Several inches of rain will likely have fallen by the end of the week. Once Thursday night rolls around, the atmosphere should get cool enough for snow to start mixing in. Friday will be our coldest day of the week and will have mix precipitation. Luckily, the weekend should be warming up and staying dry.

Written Forecast:

Monday: Thunderstorm developing during the afternoon. Isolated strong to severe storms possible. Chance of rain 100% and chance of snow 00%. The high will be near 60F. Winds should be 5-10mph. Rainfall up to a half an inch.

Monday night: Rain and thunderstorms. Isolated strong to severe storms early. Winds will be 10-20mph. The low temperature will be around 42F. Chance of rain 80% and chance of snow 0%.

Tuesday: Rain and thundershowers likely. High near 63F with winds around 5mph. Chance of rain 60% and chance of snow 0%.

Tuesday night: Rain and thundershowers. The low should be around 47F and winds between 5-10mph. Chance of rain 70% and chance of snow 0%.

Wednesday: Thunderstorms. High near 36F. Chance of rain 80% and chance of snow 0%.

Wednesday night: Rain. A low of 41F can be expected. Chance of rain 80% and chance of snow 0%.

what's that?

Looks like it's a sort of pop up window...not in reality there at the NWS... nevermind.

A test of new graphics that I am doing for my local forecasts. They are all done in powerpoint. Of course, the data is not real since this is a test. Also, ignore the thing on the bottom right as that will be taken care of in the next several days. I also plan on to eventually have a narration for this.

From this morning:

The squall line wasn't that eventful at all for me. The strongest part went to my north, as usual. All I got was some heavy rain and some wind gusts. Oh well. :(

The SPC has fully included me in the slight risk area with damaging winds and isolates tornadoes the main threats. Tomorrow may also be a moderate risk for areas farther south of me.

DTX HWO
LATEST WATER VAPOR IMAGERY SHOWS OUR POWERFUL TROUGH CENTERED OVER
LAS VEGAS...SWINGING INTO THE FOUR CORNERS REGION. MEANWHILE...GOOD
MOISTURE (SURFACE DEW PTS IN THE LOWER 60S) IS LOCATED UP TO THE
OHIO RIVER. DEEPENING SOUTHWEST FLOW WILL ALLOW THE WARM FRONT TO
SURGE INTO THE GREAT LAKES REGION ON THURSDAY...AND THE QUESTION IS
HOW CLEANLY WILL THIS WARM FRONT CLEAR SOUTHEAST MICHIGAN...AND WHAT
KIND OF SURFACE DEW PTS WILL ACTUALLY MAKE IT INTO THE STATE...AS
LOWER 60S IS CLIMATOLOGICALLY VERY UNUSUAL FOR THIS TIME OF
YEAR...ESPECIALLY WITH THE LACK OF GREEN UP OVER THE AREA. THE
EXTENT OF LOW LEVEL MOISTURE OBVIOUSLY IMPACTS THE INSTABILITY AND
SEVERE CHANCES. WIND FIELDS ARE STELLAR...AS 850 MB WINDS ARE AROUND
60 KNOTS...SO MEAGER INSTABILITY OR NOT...THERE IS NO QUESTION THERE
IS A CHANCE OF DAMAGING WINDS. CLOSE PROXIMITY TO SURFACE FRONTAL
BOUNDARY AND EXTREME 0-1 KM BULK SHEAR WILL ALSO NEED TO ANALYZE
TORNADO THREAT AS WE GET CLOSER TO THURSDAY.

Quoting GeorgiaStormz:
cool

now maybe youll get some severe wx

I hope I do.

GREAT SURGE OF GULF
MOISTURE (PW CLOSE TO 1.5 INCHES) SHOULD OCCUR AHEAD OF THE
APPROACHING COLD FRONT...AND TEMPERATURES CLIMBING UP TO NEAR 70
(COULD BE WARMER!) WITH DEWPOINTS NEAR 60 ON THURSDAY WILL ALLOW
ABOUT 1000 J/KG OF SB CAPE TO BUILD BY AFTERNOON...PLENTY FOR
THUNDERSTORM DEVELOPMENT.

My goal for my Atlantic hurricane season forecast is tomorrow, but with school work I may not be able to finish it. I am only halfway done at most with it.

A warm front has definitely went through my area over the past couple hours. The temperature went from 50F to 60F in about 2 hours and skies have cleared a little. Wundermap shows this clearly when focusing in on the Detroit, MI area. Oh and I recorded 0.16" of rain from this morning's round of showers. It may not sound like much, but after a dry March I want some rain. A lot more looks to be in store this week.
