A little about my self -

I joined weather Underground in August of 2005 right after they opened the blogging feature. I have been a weather hobbyist since the middle 60's when I lived on the west coast of Florida, north of the Tampa Bay area. I currently live in a small community in central Illinois.

I have been through numerous Hurricanes during my life time. The worse being Hurricane Camille in August 17,1969, A Cat 5, where the eye passed over the location I was at. That being Biloxi, Ms when I was in the USAF stationed at Keesler AFB.

Starting to see a lot of Wooly Worms the larva of the Isabella tiger moth in the past week. Am seeing many all black or with a narrow band of brown in the middle .. there are 13 segments in the Wooly Worms body and wives tale says the more dark segments the colder the winter weather .. if the dark is mainly in the front it will be cold in the beginning and if on the tail part the last of the winter will be cold .. I am seeing the whole of the wooly Worm is black so a cold winter over all ..

Only time will tell but hope they are not correct in that a cold winter is in store for us !!

Kids like to find them and pick them up .. they just roll up in a ball ..

We're warming up again this week. Highs in the 80's and lows in the 60's. Slight chance of rain.

Hope it holds - I'm taking the 22nd, 23rd and 24th off. I was hoping to go up to Greenwood to see my aunt/uncle but it turns out that's the same weekend their daughter has reservations for them all for a long weekend in Myrtle Beach. Oh, well.

Really nice here today .. has made it up into the middle 70's here today .. suns feels nice and warm if your out of the light breeze we have .. can be just a bit chilled in the shade though ..

Bless her little heart.

This being her first year, she may not be sure about what to do. I sure hope she knows.

You're doing the best thing; keeping food available so that she can tank up.

I don't know if the same ones come back or not. Probably the only way to tell is if they're banded and you'd have to net them to read the band. Not something you'd want to do unless you're an expert.

Bug .. she is still here .. can tell she is a young one this years hatch I expect from her coloring .. still sucking up a huge about of nectar again today .. am going to have to make up a couple of more cups of nectar for her if she doesn't leave in the next day or so ..

so fascinating to watch .. next year will put out a couple of more feeders .. wonder f the same ones come back each year ??

Goodness, she is late leaving.

From the way you describe her sucking up the sugar water, it does sound like she's getting ready to make her move. Which she better do asap. Those low overnight temps will stun her.

We've not gotten out of the upper 60's today. While in the sun, it feels like mid 70's but get in the shade? Chilly. Esp since I'm wearing a sleeveless top. Got my jeans on, though.

Temps here are supposed to drop to mid 50's tonight. Good spooning weather! lol

Bug .. big area just to the east of me calling for frost again tonight .. think we will stay out of it but going to be close as low areas where the cold air will gather ..

was just watching my last little hummingbird drinking its fill right before dark .. not expecting to see her after tonight she's stayed very close to the feeder all day and was drinking a lot more then normal so guessing she's loading up .. she's the only one left and am hoping she isn't leaving too late and feeders will still be out further south ..

Good grief, wab! 35.5?

BREAK OUT THE LONGJOHNS!

We've gotten into the 60's overnight for the last couple of weeks. Still haven't put a bedspread on the bed, though we have dispensed with the fan a couple of times.

Sorry to hear you've been having sinus issues. That's a miserable thing to deal with. Been there more than once, myself.

I hope the farmer's finish up and the weather moderates to give you some relief.

35.5 was the low last night but didn't see any frost around me .. a gloomy overcast day with the temp just at 49 degrees here at 2pm ..

little warmer tomorrow up to 60 and then high 60's low 70's later part of the week with another chance of rain Thursday ..

Well .. never got close to the forecast high of 66 degrees this afternoon.. 54 was the warmest and it varied down to 50 a couple of times .. chance of frost in low lying areas and a bit further north of me .. I'm expecting 36 over night ..

will be lucky to make 50 tomorrow I'm afraid and then a slight warm up early in the week, but won't last .. colder temperatures will be the normal now ..

A cloudy rainy gloomy day.. about a half inch of rain .. haven't walked out to the gauge to see.. been fighting one of those sinus headaches caused by a combination of my allergies from all the dust the farmers have put into the air and this weather!!

Forecast for a high near 80 tomorrow then about a 20 degree drop as a front will pass through the area giving us much cooler seasonal type weather this weekend and next week . .

Hi, wab.

We've been overcast, with lots of rain over the past 2-3 weeks. The good thing has been the drop in temps. We've gotten into the mid 80's a few times but it's been mostly upper 70's and low 80's during the day and low 70's or upper 60's at night.

Just perfect. Except for the rain.

We did get a little sunshine yesterday but by 2:30 it was gone. Had to get the clothes in off the line before I went to the grocer. Good thing I did, too. It started misting rain as soon as I pulled out of the drive.

Bug .. been dry here for the week .. next forecast rain for us is on Thursday and not sure how much .. still to far away yet .. we have had a wonderful fall so far and hoping this winter won't be terribly bad either ..

Here in the south we are 6 degrees Celsius warmer than we should be at 22-23, (72-74) whereas the north has more average temps for this time of the year.

well actually they are cooler then what we had in August .. its just these are some what unusual in they are about 5 degrees or more above normal .. but the cold will soon arrive.. its just around the corner to the north ..

Cooled down enough to go outside again. All the rain seems to be helping.

Rained so much so fast yesterday, had a lot of standing water. Ended up showing the kids how to skim board. Had found two at a garage sale not too long ago. Can't believe I can still do that. We were hoping for a mad down pour today. Found a patch of ~4 inch catfish looking fish out of water with a few frogs that may have died on impact, on my ride today. It may have rained fish & frogs in the hood yesterday.

OOH be careful you don't throw your back out skim boarding .. those were a lot of fun !!

you might have had some falling fish and frogs .. there was some violent weather and doesn't take much to suck a pond dry and dump it 30 miles up the road ..

Just absolutely beautiful here .. as Ylee said almost perfect .. 79 degrees 32% humidity this afternoon ..

Lovin It !!
