A little about my self -

I joined weather Underground in August of 2005 right after they opened the blogging feature. I have been a weather hobbyist since the middle 60's when I lived on the west coast of Florida, north of the Tampa Bay area. I currently live in a small community in central Illinois.

I have been through numerous Hurricanes during my life time. The worse being Hurricane Camille in August 17,1969, A Cat 5, where the eye passed over the location I was at. That being Biloxi, Ms when I was in the USAF stationed at Keesler AFB.

Central Illinois has a slight chance of severe weather over the next 4 days per the models .. probably the best chance will be tomorrow evening and Monday ..

My wife saw the neighbor's wife and she said they had all but one field of corn planted and had one field that was directly on the path of the tornado they probably won't be able to plant because of so much debris on and imbedded in the field .. it is one of the first fields after the housing stops on the northern edge of Washington ..

The tornado laid down and dropped a lot of the debris from the 1/2 mile or more of destroyed homes in that area .. they have already taken 6 dump truck loads of material off it .. but that was just the larger pieces .. there was lumber you could see sticking up out of the ground .. might have been embedded 2-3 feet of more deep .. simply amazing the power that is displayed in a tornado of EF 4 strength !!

We drove through the area last night and there is a amazing amount of rebuilding going on .. most slabs have been cleared and there are many house frames in varying states in the process of going up .. So good to see !!

But also so sad as you still can see the destruction everywhere .. all the large stately tree's are gone they were all broken and battered and had to be removed ..

High temperatures Sunday will be in the mid to high 80's

I'm not sure but I believe I saw a white Robin in my yard today .. was a fleeting look and am not sure of what I saw other then the bird was white .. was the size and shape of a robin .. it flew off to the west into the corn field and I lost sight of it ..

will keep an eye out to see if I see it again on my walks in the yard ..

opps Sandi .. afraid you miss understood the 55 to 25 was the speed I was driving and not the temperature .. had to slow down that much so I could see any thing at all it was like a solid wave of water had hit my Jeep .. visibility went to zero in about 1 second ..

just back from a school concert for the grand daughter .. got caught in a heavy rain down burst on the way home .. went from 55 down to 25 because I couldn't see anything .. was like driving into a black curtain .. my wife gasped it was so sudden .. wind increased for about 20 seconds and felt much like a down burst from a thunder storm ..

don't like the way the evening storms are starting to set up .. tornado in Minnesota confirmed on the ground ..

Storms all the way from west of Dallas to the Canadian border ..

tonight is the last concert of the school year for the youngest granddaughter .. only event left on the school calendar is my grandsons 8th grade graduation .. hard to believe he is in high school .. seems like only yesterday I was rocking him and singing a made up song about the big green tractor going down the road ..

line of storms aligning in a north/south direction are starting to build this early afternoon as the heat mounts during peak heating hours of the day .. they stretch from Minnesota all the way south to the Gulf of Mexico .. the southern storms a bit stronger right now then the northern ones .. but I expect severe thunderstorms including possible tornados could occur anywhere along the line later this afternoon and evening ..

Severe weather firing up this evening in SW Oklahoma down through central Texas ..

the line of showers developing will move slowly eastward with storms training along the front in a NE direction ..

Tomorrow the storms should extend the line northward while still developing severe weather all along the line back into south central Texas ..

have had a couple of 2-3 minute sprinkle showers this afternoon .. they seem to only make it feel warmer when they are over ..

more intense rain is expected later tonight but more likely tomorrow afternoon or evening ..

Friday could be a continuation of the severe storms Thursday but just further to the east .. the area around central Illinois will remain in the severe area at least through the morning hours .. cloud cover in the area could be the key .. if overcast the temperatures may remain cooler decreasing the severe possibilities ..

the speed of the easterly movement of the trough will be the key ..

These are my thoughts only .. do not rely on them for your weather alerts ..

Models showing storms developing in central Tx northward to the Ok line this afternoon then tomorrow the storms develop through central Ok southward to central Tx ..

Thursday the big storm day as storms will develop early in a line from southern Iowa all the way south through central Texas early AM .. stronger storms will fill in as the day progresses with severe storms likely from Wisconsin southward to Texas .. this line should move eastward as storms train in a northeast direction ..

Not likening the setup Thursday thru the late afternoon and evening for the area from central Missouri north to central Iowa and eastward to Indiana line western half of Tn/Ky westward to the western Arkansas line ..

Found some really nice tomato plants last Thursday night .. had just came in that day and hadn't been picked over .. or harmed by the store by not watering .. were really nice size for the price .. 4 bucks and were almost a foot tall already .. only about 5 inches after I cut leaves off and planted them deep .. gives them a much better root systems when planted in containers ..

Research has shown that corn planted after the 20th of May in Illinois starts loosing yield .. farmers can plant about 5% in a peak planting day so takes about 20 peak days .. a peak day is where the whole state has ideal conditions ..

having good year in Illinois but the rest of the states are lagging behind .. Illinois has 32% of the corn acreage planted while the other 18 corn producing states only have 19% planted !!

it is expected 5 to 15% of the corn ground will be planted late if average planting days occur over the next 21 days .. a lot of things effect this including land not being able to be tilled due to river/stream flooding every spring ..

How much U.S. corn acreage will get planted after May 20?

Going to make it into the mid 70's today as the temperature is 69 officially and I've got 72 here at the house ..

Farmers were in the fields early this morning as I heard the first one while still in bed at 6:30 .. So someone got a very early start .. they will try to get as much planted the next few days before the forecasted rains come Friday and this weekend ..

have to keep the windows closed the next couple of weeks because of the amounts of dust put into the air by the different farming implements ..

The Race For the Cure is this weekend here in Peoria, Il .. hope the weather is at least dry for the walkers and runners Saturday morning ..

Haven't heard any official planted acreage amounts yet this year .. but sure it is still low except in the southern part of the state which of course is much warmer then here .. 200 mile to the south makes a huge difference .. about a 15 degree difference between just St Louis and here .. and then Jus north of me is usually 7-10 degrees cooler ..

It rained last night though it was very hot during the day.. the news says El Nino is here to stay. that means we would be missing the rain a lot. good Evening WW and everyone. hope you have a nice day/evening.

Morning, wab. I hope you're not hobbling around today like Tim Conway's old man!

I'm loosening up some. My lower back is much better but my thighs are still pretty stiff. Picking things up from the floor is still iffy. lol
