A little about my self -

I joined weather Underground in August of 2005 right after they opened the blogging feature. I have been a weather hobbyist since the middle 60's when I lived on the west coast of Florida, north of the Tampa Bay area. I currently live in a small community in central Illinois.

I have been through numerous Hurricanes during my life time. The worse being Hurricane Camille in August 17,1969, A Cat 5, where the eye passed over the location I was at. That being Biloxi, Ms when I was in the USAF stationed at Keesler AFB.

Skye .. the lack of sunshine is the reason for the cooler temperatures .. that and we had a very deep freeze for the first time in many years .. but we have been overly overcast and when we have had rain it has been cold .. at temps close to freezing ..

That polar vortex keeps harassing you. Looks warm E of Greenland & by AK still.

Upper 60s here today.

Morning, wab.

Wish I could send you some of our sunshine, though it is a bit cool this morning - windy and about 55F. It'll warm up to the upper 60's, though.

That's been some awful news coming out of Washington State, with that mudslide.

talked to a friend who lives 38 miles from the mud slide out in Washington State .. said that area had just been drenched with rain the past 30 days or so .. some areas got almost 16 inches he said ..

where he lives got much less he said the rain was confined to the one area to the north and some of it was caused by elevation changes ..

Hey, Wab.

More sneax? Sheesh, the Never Ending Winter.

We got a lot of rain last night: a good 2 inches, if not a dab more. I haven't emptied the rain gauge to measure the overflow from the central core.

Phoebe's 2nd egg hatched pre dawn this morning. I guess they both wanted to avoid prying eyes! lol

Bug .. just a small chance and it will be gone by days end ..

they will grow so fast ..

Nice blog entry - Enjoyed reading a little bit about you. Sounds like you are an old timer on WU also.

I have been through a few hurricanes also. The worse one to come through eastern NC that I remember was Hurricane Hazel. After that seems several occurred each year.

The one that affected my homeplace the most was Hurricane Floyd with very destructive flooding that did not recede for over two weeks or longer thus destroying homes and were declared to no longer be structurally sound to live in.

I was no longer at home but in VA but it hurt like heck to have to move our elderly mother out of our homeplace.

YOur header of 50s temp caught my eye! Sounds great! Would be nice to have a real spring - not a jump from winter to summer temps. Have a wonderful weekend.

I heard about some strong storms on the weather channel? Were any of them in your area?

tks WW .. yes have been around WU since 2005 .. the strong TS's were further south of me ..
my area was hit by a tornado a few months ago .. we don't need any more !!

Hey, wab.

If it ain't snowing, it's raining, huh?

Hope you don't get any damage from those T-storms.

Phoebe's first egg hatched out sometime overnight. I pulled a no-no at work and had her webcam up all day yesterday. Minimized the window as small as it would go, so it could hide among all my work related windows. I didn't bother checking after I got home.

Brought up the website just as dawn was breaking in Cali and, sure enough, there was a wee mite in the nest.

yep .. this is our gloomy weather time .. before Spring comes in with its sunny skies and fluffy clouds and beautiful flowers !!
