A little about my self -

I joined weather Underground in August of 2005 right after they opened the blogging feature. I have been a weather hobbyist since the middle 60's when I lived on the west coast of Florida, north of the Tampa Bay area. I currently live in a small community in central Illinois.

I have been through numerous Hurricanes during my life time. The worse being Hurricane Camille in August 17,1969, A Cat 5, where the eye passed over the location I was at. That being Biloxi, Ms when I was in the USAF stationed at Keesler AFB.

thats for sure ..

School canceled for tomorrow and probably Tuesday since lows will be -16 .. the kids may have to go all summer ..

brother had his propane filled .. in Dec it was $1.89 .. last week it was $2.89 .. so a dollar increase .. an extra 250 dollars .. going to have to have mine filled here in the next 2 weeks again .. down to 40% and think they refill at 25% .. have used a lot of gas this winter !! hurting the pocket book of many people ..

Now 8am and I am awake again. Finally managed another 4 hours, so had five and a half in total. Not good as 'beauty' sleep! lol
I went over to read Jus's blog and saw she might get windchill temps as low as minus 40.
Guess what! I have finally found a temperature I don't need to convert....minus 40F is the same in Celsius .... Minus 40!!! That's 20 degrees Celsius colder than I have ever experienced!! Wow - that's cold!

Sandi .. we are suppose to get down to -15 with winds 20-25 mph with wind chills near -40 also ..

Hi, wab.

We've finally got into the upper 40's but it sure doesn't feel like it. We've got wind at 16 mph, with gusts to 25. Bleah.

It's a short reprieve; we'll be back in the deep freeze by Tuesday night.

The possibility of snow here has diminished. They're now forecasting those showers for Monday morning and the temps will be too high. There'll be a lot of sad kids! I remember how I used to pray for snow and a day out of school.

Kids have had so many cold/snow days where they have canceled school they will have to go into the 2nd week in June if they get any more .. and next week looks like they will cancel at least one day ..

Hi, wab.

I guess I shouldn't be moaning about our cold down here, having seen what you've been putting up with.

Still, it's not something we're really used to. Oh, a night or two below freezing, here and there, is normal but not these periods of 3 and 4 days at a time of frigid temps. Warm up a bit for a day or two, then down she goes again.

I've even heard that there's a possibility of a few flakes Wednesday. It has been a while since we've seen that.

I just had to come along and tell you what Max is doing!

Yesterday he came and sat behind me on my computer chair, and stayed there for about ten minutes before jumping off. Today I was leaning forward, reading something, and he got behind me again. He has been there about half an hour, and although I am getting uncomfortable, I am loathe to move him, as he is so warm for my back!!! lol
