A little about my self -

I joined weather Underground in August of 2005 right after they opened the blogging feature. I have been a weather hobbyist since the middle 60's when I lived on the west coast of Florida, north of the Tampa Bay area. I currently live in a small community in central Illinois.

I have been through numerous Hurricanes during my life time. The worse being Hurricane Camille in August 17,1969, A Cat 5, where the eye passed over the location I was at. That being Biloxi, Ms when I was in the USAF stationed at Keesler AFB.

Oh, I am SO jealous!

I do know that this is really unusual for you. There've just been those cold fronts coming down this summer.

They just don't come down far enough, though.

I'm sure not complaining though .. has saved me on the electric bill since we haven't had to run the air conditioner .. its been about half of normal ..

Oh, gosh, that sounds wonderful, wab.

We are melting here. It's already 87F, with a heat index of 95F.

No rain, either. We need it even though it will add to the humidity. Our grass now crinkles underfoot.

Bug .. we have been having just a great summer as far as temps go .. only been a couple of days in the 90's all summer which I must say is quite unusual for this area ..

Chance of rain Monday for us (40%) but we will then see the temps drop down even further with day time highs in the mid 70's as another cold front makes its way south ..

Hi, wab.

Got up this morning to the usual: hot and humid. Still, we have not had any extremely bad heat waves so far this summer. Knock on wood.

Need to get the wash going. There's a slight possibility of some precip early this afternoon. Luckily, I did a load or two after work earlier this week, so there's not a whole lot piled up.

God, I lead such an exciting life! lol

HA HA .. well my exciting day will consist of mowing the yard .. .. batching it this week by myself .. wife went to visit her mom and sister for the week ..

74 here at 11 .. only going up to mid 80's so should be a pleasant day under sunny skies ..

well the heart of the season is still to come so anything is possible ..

hope we have many re-curves out to sea .. but expect 2 or 3 to effect the mainland in some way .. lets hope those are the weak ones ..

Hi, wab.

Hot and muggy here.

There's been a few scattered, light showers. You know the kind. One side of the street is wet; the other is dry as a bone.

We've got 30-40% possiblity of rain starting Monday but whether we get any at the house is a crap shoot.

We're starting to run a tad behind in our average precip for this point in time. A month or so ago, we were ahead of where we should be.

No good soaking rain in a while; all my plants outside wilt if I don't soak them every other day.

Bug .. that's about what I am having to water too .. tomato plants need a good soak every 2 days also ..

we really don't have a good chance of rain in the next 10 days .. the long term drought forecast has us going severe the end of Sept ..

you were wet for a long time as we were but that has now changed ..

Hey, wab.

It sure sounds like Eko is growing in leaps and bounds.

From the things you've said about her, her personality and temperment, I think you picked a great pup.

I'd rather have the folks in Dr. M's blog bored, than be staring at the Cone of Doom. Of course, I know that excitement is what many of them just live for! lol

Not me, though. I like bored.

There's still a long way to go, before the Season's over. Cape Verde season will be cranking up shortly. yech....

We got about half an inch of rain day before yesterday. There's about 20-30% chance of rain for us in the next week or so. The usual summer afternoon pop up showers and T-storms.

Bug .. yes she is almost 25 pounds now .. her color is just starting to come in .. loosing the black puppy color ..

wee got a small shower last night but only about .1 inches .. got everything wet and that was about it .. think there a chance again in a couple of days ..

dreading the chain of the CV storms we all know will start in just a few weeks and then the home grown storms forming just off the coast my be high this year too ..

Up to 60% with a good chance of advisories going out ..

TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER MIAMI FL
200 AM EDT SAT AUG 3 2013

FOR THE NORTH ATLANTIC...CARIBBEAN SEA AND THE GULF OF MEXICO...

1. RECENT SATELLITE-DERIVED SURFACE WIND DATA INDICATE THE AREA OF LOW
PRESSURE CENTERED ABOUT 70 MILES EAST OF CAPE CANAVERAL FLORIDA...
ASSOCIATED WITH THE REMNANTS OF DORIAN...HAS BECOME BETTER DEFINED
AND IS PRODUCING WINDS TO TROPICAL STORM FORCE IN SQUALLS TO THE
EAST AND SOUTHEAST OF THE CENTER. SATELLITE AND RADAR DATA FURTHER
INDICATE THAT ASSOCIATED SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS ARE GRADUALLY
BECOMING BETTER ORGANIZED...AND ONLY A SLIGHT INCREASE IN THIS
ACTIVITY COULD RESULT IN THE FORMATION OF A TROPICAL CYCLONE. IF
THIS RECENT DEVELOPMENT TREND CONTINUES...THEN ADVISORIES COULD BE
RE-INITIATED ON THIS SYSTEM LATER THIS MORNING AS IT MOVES SLOWLY
NORTHWARD. DUE TO THE STRONGEST WINDS BEING LOCATED ON THE EAST
SIDE OF THE LOW...TROPICAL STORM WATCHES OR WARNINGS WOULD NOT BE
REQUIRED FOR THE BAHAMAS OR ANY PART THE UNITED STATES COASTLINE.
THIS SYSTEM HAS A HIGH CHANCE...60 PERCENT...OF BECOMING A TROPICAL
CYCLONE DURING THE NEXT 48 HOURS...AND A HIGH CHANCE...60
PERCENT...OF BECOMING A TROPICAL CYCLONE DURING THE NEXT 5 DAYS.
REGARDLESS OF DEVELOPMENT...CLOUDINESS AND SHOWERS WILL CONTINUE TO
AFFECT PORTIONS OF THE NORTHWESTERN BAHAMAS...THE FLORIDA
PENINSULA...AND ADJACENT ATLANTIC WATERS TODAY.

FIVE-DAY FORMATION PROBABILITIES ARE EXPERIMENTAL IN 2013. COMMENTS
ON THE EXPERIMENTAL FORECASTS CAN BE PROVIDED AT...

Still alive and kicking ..

TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER MIAMI FL
800 PM EDT FRI AUG 2 2013

FOR THE NORTH ATLANTIC...CARIBBEAN SEA AND THE GULF OF MEXICO...

1. AN AREA OF LOW PRESSURE CENTERED ABOUT 75 MILES EAST OF MELBOURNE
FLORIDA...ASSOCIATED WITH THE REMAINS OF DORIAN...IS MOVING SLOWLY
NORTHWARD. SATELLITE AND RADAR DATA INDICATE THAT THE ASSOCIATED
SHOWER ACTIVITY HAS BECOME BETTER ORGANIZED DURING THE PAST SEVERAL
HOURS...AND SOME ADDITIONAL DEVELOPMENT IS POSSIBLE TONIGHT.
HOWEVER...THE LOW IS EXPECTED TO ENCOUNTER STRONG UPPER-LEVEL WINDS
ON SATURDAY WHICH WILL NOT BE CONDUCIVE FOR DEVELOPMENT...AND IT IS
EXPECTED TO MERGE WITH A FRONTAL TROUGH OFFSHORE OF THE EASTERN
UNITED STATES ON SUNDAY. THIS SYSTEM HAS A MEDIUM CHANCE...
50 PERCENT...OF BECOMING A TROPICAL CYCLONE DURING THE NEXT
48 HOURS...AND A MEDIUM CHANCE...50 PERCENT...OF BECOMING A TROPICAL
CYCLONE DURING THE NEXT 5 DAYS. REGARDLESS OF DEVELOPMENT...
CLOUDINESS AND SHOWERS WILL CONTINUE TO AFFECT PORTIONS OF THE

pop-up showers starting to form to the SW and W of me .. has clouded up to around 50% cloudy ..

I've got 85 degrees here ..

Hoping for some rain showers later tonight .. rain earlier has really helped the size of the beans .. and the corn needed it to fill out the kernels ..
