A little about my self -

I joined weather Underground in August of 2005 right after they opened the blogging feature. I have been a weather hobbyist since the middle 60's when I lived on the west coast of Florida, north of the Tampa Bay area. I currently live in a small community in central Illinois.

I have been through numerous Hurricanes during my life time. The worse being Hurricane Camille in August 17,1969, A Cat 5, where the eye passed over the location I was at. That being Biloxi, Ms when I was in the USAF stationed at Keesler AFB.

Good evening White wabit.
Thanks for dropping by the Northern Edge.
I once saw crows keep an Owl in a tree. They were cawing and I guess the Owl was to scared to fly away with all the crows landed above him.
It looks like I'm the most northerly visitor in North America at the moment.

What is your home town ?

Crows can be a murderous lot when they get together .. I live in the country with nearest neighbors are 1/2 mile away and so being the property with over 100 trees we get their roosting all the time .. tried using a sound cannon, sounded like a large firecracker .. didn't faze them after about 20 minutes .. they are smart .. we don't see our barn cats when they are around ..

had a Great Horned Owl around for several years and she use to hunt them .. only time I've seen that happen .. saw her feeding a crow to one of her babies ..

Hi Wabit. I feel for the folks on Hispaniola with TS Chantel racing towards them. Maybe the forward speed will keep it from dumping so much rain on them. We'll have to wait and see how it holds together and what impact we can feel here in the US.

most of the models has Chantal moving toward Fla, Ga, and NC/SC line .. with one going up the west coast and then into the gulf ..

A very wide area of concern until the models come together which I don't believe will happen for several more days .. so the areas that may be affected need to start hurricane preps soon ..
