... Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until noon CST
Friday...
A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until noon CST
Friday.
* Timing... snow is expected to spread into areas south of I-74 by
4 PM... and in areas north of I-74 after 4 PM. Some sleet may mix
in at times in the first couple of hours of precipitation. The
heaviest precipitation is expected between 5 PM and midnight.
After midnight... the snow may mix with or change to freezing
drizzle.
* Accumulations... 4 to 6 inches of snow are likely... with the
higher totals west of the Illinois River. Any of these
precipitation totals may be locally higher due to isolated
thunderstorms embedded within this storm this afternoon.
* Wind... east winds of 15 and 20 mph will gust to near 30 mph at
times. This will create areas of blowing and drifting snow.
* Impacts... conditions will deteriorate rapidly once the snow
begins. Travel will become hazardous due to poor visibility
and roads becoming quickly snow covered and icy. The potential
for some freezing drizzle late tonight will only make driving
conditions even more hazardous.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow... sleet... or
freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for
slippery roads and limited visibilities... and use caution while
driving.

Take care:)

Even though the FL temps were un-FL-like, you didn't have to deal with snow.
At least, you're home and back to your own bed.
Like Dorothy said, "There's no place like home, there's no place like home...."
Hope ya'll had some time to stock the larder. It doesn't sound like the type of weather you'd want to get out in to make a grocery run for bread or milk.
Made a milk run when we got back yesterday ..
Forecast is for 4-5 inches of snow but guessing will be closer to 3 to 4 .. getting some dry slots coming up from the south ..
Figures it will warm up since I'm back home now ...
Can I again ask for a favor ..
My grand daughter's 1 year old kitten has to be put down .. she has an incurable disease It will be done in the morning and I would greatly appreciate your thoughts for her the next few days as she has to cope with another death so soon .....
Thanks not needed. We know.
So sorry to hear about the kitten. I hate it when kids have to go through that. Of course, we'll keep your grand daughter in our thoughts and prayers. Thanks for asking.
Thanks Rob knew I could count on you .. hope your back soon !!
Thanks Aubie .. really hard to lose a pet that was so young .. and TT is only 10 years old ..
Thanks Sandi .. We are not sure how she will react, but she has a large support structure around her to help her through this crisis ..
How old is your granddaughter? Her age will have a lot to do with her reaction and how you should handle the situation.
I will be thinking about her, too. Like Sandi, I've been through the loss of pets umpteen times over the years. It doesn't get any easier with age.
Bug .. she is only 10 and is very sensitive.. what her cat has can be contagious to other cats and she is worried about the other cat also because of that, (Moo's cat, they both got one at the same time .. sisters from the same liter ..
No it never gets any easier putting down a pet, even when we know it is the best for the animal to not suffer.. I know when we put Ceasar my German Sheperd down it was very hard on me .. he was the best dog I have ever had !!!
Lost my first dog around age 10.
Never got any easier.
Thanks SNK .. this is the first one for TT ..

Ah, 10 is a rough age to deal with something like this. Old enough to know and not old enough to be a bit enured to things like this. Though, as we all know, age doesn't mean your heart doesn't break.
You haven't said but it sounds like her cat had feline leukemia. It's the main thing I can think of that is highly contagious to other cats and is almost impossible to treat.
I lost my first cat around 9 or 10. He had gotten run over in the neighbor's drive. I found the body and it wasn't pretty. That was a good 50 years ago and I can still remember running back to the house, screaming for Mama.
Hey Bug .. went as well as can be expected .. It wasn't leukemia, her lungs were filling with fluid and she was slowly drowning ..
They are at the house now and and we're trying to keep her occupied .. she took it pretty bad ..
Poor granddaughter. Yes, the best thing to do is try to keep her occupied and busy for a few days. She'll head back to school and the hurt will slowly ease.
I headed right back to work after my brother passed, though I could have taken off more time. Hubby went right back to work and I'd have just been moping around the house. There wasn't much point in that. It was best that I got busy.
If it had really been up to me, I'd have stayed with Dad a few days but they had long standing plans for a cruise. I didn't want to be under Smom's feet while she was getting them ready to go. She gets snippy when tired and under pressure.
I was all for them going, though. For Dad's sake and the same reason I went right back to work. Take his mind off things for a bit.

Bug .. The kitten had Feline infectious peritonitis (FIP) she had the wet kind .. she and her sister are now worried that Moo's kitten will die too .. we have told them that that is not likely .. but our reassurances are not helping right now .. they are both doing better then I expected but we have kept them busy today ..
Ylee .. yes made it back before the snow hit Thursday ..
Coping with death is life long .. it never gets easier ..
To live in hearts we leave behind
Is not to die.

We've had a break in the rain. For a bit. It's supposed to be pouring again Monday.
After all the rain we've been having, it's hard to believe we're still in drought. Nothing like your's but we're still behind what we should be.
Hist.... is it the thing they call a 'sun?'
Sunny here also .. have snow storm warning from Monday night till Tuesday evening ..
Suppose to start out with up to 1/10 of an inch of ice then turning to snow with accumulations of between 4 and 6 inches ..
Just checking in to let you know your granddaughter is still on my mind.
Won't mention how nice the weather was today...
