A little about my self -

I joined weather Underground in August of 2005 right after they opened the blogging feature. I have been a weather hobbyist since the middle 60's when I lived on the west coast of Florida, north of the Tampa Bay area. I currently live in a small community in central Illinois.

I have been through numerous Hurricanes during my life time. The worse being Hurricane Camille in August 17,1969, A Cat 5, where the eye passed over the location I was at. That being Biloxi, Ms when I was in the USAF stationed at Keesler AFB.

Merry Christmas, Wabit! I'm beginning to think Santa missed us - expected overnight rain and storms, but all we've got is blue sky and 70. Sigh.

That's ok - the day's still young. I hope yours is great - Merry Christmas!

Happy Christmas Eve, wab.

Looks like you're going to have that White Christmas so many people dream about. It's one thing, wanting it when you don't have it, and dealing with it, when you do.

We're going to have rain, off and on, for most of the week. It seems like every time I take off and have things I want to do, it rains.

The ham tasted as good as it smelled. And I'm SO glad I cooked it yesterday. I won't have to spend as much time in the kitchen the next day or two, cooking.

We'll eat yesterdays leftover side dishes today. I'll fix a few fresh side dishes tomorrow. Including one of Hubby's favorites: macaroni pie.

It's elbow mac, lots of extra sharp cheddar, eggs, milk, butter, baked in the oven until it's all bubbly and slightly browned on top. Very tasty but not so good, cholesterol-wise. Which is why I don't fix it often. It'll be a real treat.

Thank you Bug ! my wife is finishing baking bread and making a breakfast roll for tomorrow when all the kids get here .. Its our turn to host as we trade off between us and the 2 kids .. much easier to host .. don't have to lug all the presents for the grandkids and some of the food somewhere else ..

Only expecting about an inch and might not get that for the mid-week storm .. now the one expected for this weekend may give us a good snowfall ..

It seems right now the main band of snow from this system arriving after Christmas is going to go between us, but I don't usually put a lot of stock in the forecast at this point!

Only a 20 percent chance of precip for Wed so unless it tracks further north I might not get anything from this one ..

Now the storm for next weekend might get both of us .. looks like you will be in the heavy stuff .. but the models will change between now and then so will have to watch it carefully ...

We've got the same thing here: Charleston County Parks 'Holiday Festival of Lights. It's been going on for something like 20+ years.

The one here has been going on for 27 years ..

Had a neighbor like that.. he'd have to make 4-5 stops and would take hours for what should have taken 20 minutes ..

We've got the same thing here: Charleston County Parks 'Holiday Festival of Lights. It's been going on for something like 20+ years. It used to be $5.00 per car. It's twice that, now. there's a bunch of Youtubes for it, too.

I've never been. By the time they cut on, it's Hubby's bedtime. I won't go by myself: it's no fun.

My neighbor has asked me more than a few times if I wanted to go with them. And pay half. Four of them; one of me. Uh uh.

I politely, but firmly, decline.

Plus, he has an annoying habit of promising to bring me right home, if I go with them somewhere. I wind up stuck for hours, since he'll say, "I want to go...... first. It won't take long. I'll drop you off right after." The next thing you know, you've been out with him and his family for 5 hours or more and hit 4 or more places, from one end of town to the other. Never fails. I got stuck like that a couple of time; never again.

Took some of the grandkids through Folepi's Winter Wonderland last night and it was amazing .. and all from the comfort of your car .. its about 2.2 miles in length with displays on both side of the road ..

If you go to youtube and do a search for E. Peoria, IL "Festival of Lights" you will find many videos of the parade and "Folepi's Winter Wonderland" ..

Brrrrrrr.......

There was an article in today's paper about how the Southeast should expect another warm winter like we had last year. I think we had a few nights that went down to freezing or below but not for any kind of extended period. Not like the two prior winters. While nothing like your winter temps, it was enough to freeze our tushies off!

Bug .. are temps the past few days are pretty much normal for this time of year .. our coldest winter temperatures usually occur the middle to end of January..

Got up to 33 and felt like 25-27 with the wind chill.. doesn't take much wind to drop temps drastically .. but was under sunny skies .. the snow here in the country is still nice and white unlike the snow in town that has that black road dust on it..

Will be a little warmer tonight only going down to 27 degrees so will be around 25 degrees out here ..

Hey, Wab.

We were supposed to get down to about 29 last night but I don't thing we even got to 32 here at the house. I covered up my outside plants after work, in anticipation of a freeze. I'll leave them covered tonight, just in case, as it is still supposed to go down to 31.

Sandi just posted that she had to put her cat, Blue, down this a.m. I got all weepy. Been there too many times, myself. Pets just become a part of your life and it's always hard to let go.

Hi wab,
Forecasters here, TV and NWS, still don't know if we'll get a White Christmas or what in central OK. Some saying new system will arrive sooner than had been thought, like Christmas Eve night instead of late Christmas Day. Below freezing this morning here, but S wind, low 60s today and again tomorrow.

Have a good night.

Well looks like the snow will stick around here as temps are suppose to stay near or below freezing .. the TV weatherman is saying snow Christmas eve and day but the NWS not showing anything now ..

After reading your temperatures, we are in a veritable hot house! These winds are bringing warm air from the south and when I got up this morning it was 10C (50F)!

The weather forecasters are giving severe force 10 gales for the east coast of Scotland tomorrow as this low circulates around and comes back again!!

Take care, Wabit... has the snow drifted with the winds? Three inches can soon become a foot when it is blown around.

Sandi .. doesn't look like there was a lot of drifting.. but haven't been out in the weather yet today..

Temp is 24 degrees with 12 mph wind with gusts to 20 mph .. wind chill around 5 to 10 degrees ..

roads are more slippy than anything else because of the 1 inch rainfall freezing on the road. The wind of course is sustained to near 40 mph.

It does not looks like much snow fell, blades of grass is still visible.

snow almost has the ground covered here .. just talked to brother and he said on his drive home that there were white out conditions with visibility below 100 ft at times .. winds starting to pick up out of the west/northwest ..
