A little about my self -

I joined weather Underground in August of 2005 right after they opened the blogging feature. I have been a weather hobbyist since the middle 60's when I lived on the west coast of Florida, north of the Tampa Bay area. I currently live in a small community in central Illinois.

I have been through numerous Hurricanes during my life time. The worse being Hurricane Camille in August 17,1969, A Cat 5, where the eye passed over the location I was at. That being Biloxi, Ms when I was in the USAF stationed at Keesler AFB.

Hello Wabit!
If there was a way to send you some of my rain I'd send it!! And for the heat...well, it is just horrid this year. Everyone takes their dogs out about 6am because of it and because of the bears. Would like to say a bad word now!!!

Will keep my fingers crossed that you get more
and more of those 'little bits' even if it's still
too late for most of the crops this season.

We had another storm blow through yesterday evening. From what I saw out the windows, I would have sworn my gauge would have had an inch in it. It was .3

It did drop the temps nicely. For the evening and night. It's hot and sticky out there again.

Now this is more like it !!! A strong shower lasting 12 minutes dumped .7 inches of much welcomed rain .. with a 20 degree temperature drop ... Almost no run off, the ground just sucked the water in with it being so dry ...

Every drop is welcome!

It looks like our four days of summer will come to an abrupt end tomorrow, just in time for the opening of the Olympics:(

Friday Night - London
Cloudy with thunderstorms in the evening, then overcast with a 70% chance of rain. Low of 13C. Breezy. Winds from the NNW at 10 to 20 km/h.

Months of planning and rehearsals and it might all get wet!

Hi, Wab. That front last night was all bluster. Oh, we got a little bit of rain but not much. It didn't even come down that hard and it sure as heck didn't last more than 5 minutes or so.

It looked scary coming in on the radar, though!

I think you send your scorcher south. Though we're still not anywhere near triple digits, it's mid 90's and the heat index is expected to get to 110 either tomorrow or Thursday.

Big storm front headed our way right now. I can see the clouds off to my north all filled up with lightning.

Funny how we react to temps.

In the spring, we have to restrain ourselves from running around outside in the nude when it warms up to 67F. "YIPPEE.... Doesn't this feel great?"

In the summer/fall, we want to break out the longjohns when it cools down to 67F. "Gol danged, it got cold!"

We've finally gotten back into normal temps here. Upper 80's/low 90's in daytime and upper 70's nighttime.

The humidity will still kill ya, though.
