I can never understand how a bush, tree or just grass and come back to life if their
roots are frozen solid for months. I know
all about sap, etc. but what about the grass.
no sap there! Wabit, go outside and dig around
and uncover what you think may be grass.
Take it back in the house and in the morning
Pinch it! See if anything like sap comes out.
I would love to know how grass can grow back
after being frozen for months.roflmbo!!!!

Hey Wab...
Every time I look at your blog, I get a guilt complex. Feel guilty for complaining about the cold. Shame on me!

Let's just hope it warms up for you soon!

Just checking in. I was hoping your temps were headed above freezing, but I see that's not yet.

I was outside - around 30° - and I had on layers! I wouldn't want to do that often, or for long, but it wasn't as bad as I feared.

Wabit, just posted on my blog and article from our newspaper. Too funny.

the South Florida Iguana's are falling out of the trees because of the cold temps down here.. and we are not even that cold! LOL

here it is:

Fla. cold snap causes iguanas to fall from trees
The Associated Press

8:56 AM EST, January 17, 2009

NAPLES - The chilly weather in southern Florida this week was cold enough to force some iguanas to fall from trees.

Experts say the cold-blooded reptiles go into a deep sleep when the temperature falls into the 40s. Their bodies basically shut off and they lose their grip on the tree.

According to Collier County Domestic Animal Services control supervisor Dana Alger, iguana reports traditionally rise when temperatures drop, as the reptiles seek to warm themselves on asphalt surfaces such as sidewalks, roads and driveways.

Most of the iguanas were once pets that got released when they got too big. The reptiles can grow up to six feet long.
