Waterspouts in Alanya

While tornadoes are rare in Turkey, waterspouts are frequently seen, especially during fall. A series of waterspouts formed off the shore of Alanya yesterday, and below is the largest of them:


The cyclone over Eastern Mediterranean that is responsible for this waterspout dumped some 250 mm of rain over Antalya, in 48 hours, as we expected. This is more than 4 times the October average for Antalya!

seen that on my local news.

the people at the beach didn't seem to mind the waterspout much and went on with their beach fun, haha
