A Nice Welcome For Winter, Whats to come for the Mid Atlantic
By: watchingnva , 4:32 AM GMT on December 06, 2007
Well, we got a nice little surprise here in central va today. We got our first snowfall for the 07/08 winter season. Seems pretty early compared to the last few years of first snowfalls. There really wasnt much to it...Some might not even call it a snowfall...most areas didnt see anything stick, but it was nice to see none the less.
Its been a real rollercoaster ride with temps. as of late. Over the last month have jumped up and down a great deal with days in the 60s and 70s followed by days in the 40s and 50s. Nothing too terribly far from the norm. It however has had me fighting a cough off and on the the same time period.
Thinking about the upcoming Winter season for us in the midatlantic states. Is this the season where us here in virginia and its neighboring stats get a huge blast from Old Man Winter. It seens that weve got off pretty easy over the last few years.
With the drought that has been occuring over most of the last half of the year and the unpredictability of the jetstream, will mother nature balance out and give us a very wet winter.
Its too early to speculate and long term models are usually way off more than a few days out. I have a feeling we will get a alot more winter weather this winter compared to the last couple. I doubt anything major will come in till late jan-march.
Ive made this statment many a time over the last 2 years on here, but its just another wait and see event...
Ill be getting on here a bit more now that I have a little more free time now. Later...
