Back, for real this time

Hello again! I had been offline for almost two years!

In that time I have been busy. I ditched running my weather website in favor of art and woodworking.

I am actually working on starting my own woodworking company, collecting equipment and learning how to use it.

I still have my long range forecasting skills as I need to use them as my work depends on the weather. I am putting together a new website and it is much better. It is under construction and it will be awhile as I learn and add content.

I know people still check this blog for updates and of course they have been few and far between, but I would like to change that!

Hi all.

I have been really busy with the change of seasons.

Hopefully soon things will settle down (more like get more organized, but still a lot to do!) and I can get online more.

Our weather is finally warming into the 60s and the 3ft snow cover is nearly gone except for a few piles here and there. Even had some thunderstorms today.

I noticed you are busy learning woodworking, among other things. My best suggestion for you, if you haven't already done it, is to get involved with the local woodworkers guild. When I googled "Michigan woodworkers guild" I saw that there are four of them in your state.

I have attended monthly meetings of guilds in San Diego, CA, and Portland, OR, and their formats are similar in that there is usually a speaker each month, sometimes demonstrations of techniques (such as dovetails cut by router jig or by hand). They frequently have a show-and-tell session and opportunities to ask questions and even seek mentoring. It's a great place to get started. Try it. You'll like it.

And have fun making sawdust!

Thanks all!

Looks like we got a snowstorm coming this coming Wednesday, then another possible by next weekend, and perhaps a 3rd storm the week after.

It's been a long time since we had a good system snow, and I think that will warrant posting a snow map here soon.

Even if I don't post much I am still around. I am always a member of WU because our weather station is part of the pws network.

Here is what I have been working on lately:

Metsami Creations

I have been able to get online earlier today since it has been too cold to get things done outside. Past two days we had a heat wave with temps getting into the 50s, but today we were down in the 10s for high temps.

Was happy to see you drop by my blog today.
We missed you.
In fact, I was talking to RTLSNK on the phone the other day and we both agreed that story writing is a lot more fun when you're around.

I didn't know about your website.
Just took a look.
Well done!

Hi all!

Thanks fox!

Looks like some thunderstorms are developing in northwest Wisconsin and heading east. These storms are well ahead of the main cold front and seem to be developing along a old frontal boundry. With strong heating, building instability, and decent shear around 30kts, we could have a few severe thunderstorms in a few hours from now.

Had a busy few weeks. Went to Aura Jamboree in northern Baraga county last week, then the Hiawatha Music Festival in Marquette the past weekend.

"Our first endeavors are purely instinctive prompting of an imagination vivid and undisciplined. As we grow older reason asserts itself and we become more and more systematic and designing. But those early impulses, though not immediately productive, are of the greatest moment and may shape our very destinies. Indeed, I feel now that had I understood and cultivated instead of suppressing them, I would have added substantial value to my bequest to the world."

LOL

I guess it's one of those If you have to ask you can't afford it deals. Looks like a rough ride too, but they built a lot of cool stuff back then. It was a time when anything was possible.
I'll have to dig up some photos of stuff my grandfather worked on one day and scan them.

Time for me to crash, but I'll drop by tomorrow.

Good to see you again.
Have a good night.
