Georgia Weather History for March 13th

In 1993, the "Storm of the Century" produced record amounts of snow across north Georgia. Wind gusts near 65 mph across extreme north Georgia produced blizzard conditions as visibilities dropped to zero in many areas. Total snowfall by late evening averaged 18 to 24 inches from Rome to Clayton with near 30 inches from Fannin to Union Counties. Snow drifts up to 10 feet high were reported. In Murray, Whitfield and Gordon Counties in northwest Georgia, damage estimates to businesses and homes were over $300 million. Over 120 carpet businesses in northwest Georgia were destroyed or damaged from high wind or the weight of heavy snow. Over 90 chicken houses were destroyed in north Georgia killing at least 1.3 million chickens. Thousands of trees were uprooted with damage costs of wood products and cleanup estimated at $5 to $10 million. Travel across extreme north Georgia, especially along the I-75 corridor, was brought to a standstill for up to a week following the blizzard conditions.

Well, Max, looks like we get virtually no snow at all from this storm. Seems to be not so much precip. on the back side of the storm where the cold temps. are. I'm always leery of back side or wrap around snows, they often don't happen because the atmosphere dries out too much, too fast.

Georgia Weather History for March 12th

In 1993, an area of low pressure over the Gulf of Mexico began spreading snow across north Georgia late in the evening. The snow continued into the next day in what would eventually be called the "Storm of the Century."

I'll have a new blog today...maybe

Hi Max, well last weeks storm went real far South, this one North(although we'll get precip. from this one, unlike the last one). Still feel we may get a little "back end" snow from this early Thursday morning.

Good afternoon all...today is my day off good for working on my hurricane scorecard for 2014

I found out of a translation problem here with the new hurricane scorecard list... I can't really translate from a .doc to a .pdf when the chart gets past the threshold size allowed

The webpage would crash uploading a very large PDF... meaning I can't do it.

I see no other solution to this...
I have to go back to the picture style as I did last year. Unless I insist for wu help which is not working either for me
