THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN GREAT FALLS HAS ISSUED A WINTER
STORM WATCH FOR ELEVATIONS ABOVE 6000 FEET...WHICH IS IN EFFECT
FROM WEDNESDAY MORNING THROUGH THURSDAY AFTERNOON.
* TIMING AND MAIN IMPACT: LIGHT SNOW WILL BEGIN EARLY WEDNESDAY
MORNING WITH SNOWFALL PICKING UP MID WEDNESDAY THROUGH THURSDAY.
HEAVIER SNOW IS LIKELY AT ELEVATIONS ABOVE 5000 FEET.
* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS: CENTRAL AND SOUTHWEST MONTANA MOUNTAINS
HAVE THE POTENTIAL OF RECEIVING 6 TO 14 INCHES FROM ROUGHLY 5000
TO 7000 FEET AND 16 TO 24 INCHES ABOVE 7000 FEET.
* WINDS AND VISIBILITY: GENERALLY NORTHERLY WINDS WILL BE GUSTY AT
TIMES AND MAY REDUCE VISIBILITY IN BLOWING SNOW.
* OTHER IMPACTS: LOWER ELEVATIONS MAY SEE LIGHT SNOWFALL BUT
AMOUNTS ARE NOT EXPECTED TO CAUSE SIGNIFICANT IMPACT.

You may think Im going far ahead of matters here but, weather does it's thing and I just report it.
The new winter season has arrived, as it is common for the tall Rocky Mountains in Montana. Temperatures will be cold enough for them to see the snow, the first flakes.
Temporary graphic...I'll release my formal one later, closer to winter in an actual big storm.
Great Falls, Boulder, Butte, Dillon, Salmon, Bozeman and Drummond as well as parts of the Yellowstone Nat'l Park are up for half a foot to 1 foot of snow.
The 2 PM GFS snowfall forecast even calls for higher accumulations in parts outside the winter storm watch areas; into Wyoming
