Well it's fairly safe to say that Winter is over for North Carolina and the rest of the Southeast (not counting frost/freezes that are inevitable in April). Lexington picked up a whopping 1.5" of snowfall for the ENTIRE season, all from one minor snow event on Feb 19th. No ice storms either which is rather odd. It's been quite a busy year in the Carolinas; meteorologist Brad Panovich has summarized some of the more memorable weather events from this past year..Now that we are wrapping up 2011, one can only imagine what kind of weather 2012 will bring. Here's to wishing everyone a very happy new year!!

Unfortunately a lot of the leaves were knocked off the trees due to high winds the day before, but there was still a lot of color to be found; ANY time is a great time to be in the mountains!
