Well it's fairly safe to say that Winter is over for North Carolina and the rest of the Southeast (not counting frost/freezes that are inevitable in April). Lexington picked up a whopping 1.5" of snowfall for the ENTIRE season, all from one minor snow event on Feb 19th. No ice storms either which is rather odd. Being in what I like to call "Ice Storm Alley", we haven't lived up to that reputation in years. Yes the Winter of 2011-2012 was very disappointing to say the least, but I am ready to forget it and move on to Spring! What we lack in snowfall, we usually make up for in thunderstorms. We'll see how this year goes.

First "heat of the day" type thunderstorm of the season popped up yesterday (3/13) a couple counties to the east. Someone doesn't appear to be too happy about seeing these cauliflowers in the sky already!

"Maybe if I close my eyes, the storm will go away."

This map is subject to change as we get closer to Winter, but for now this reflects my general thoughts about this upcoming Winter season as of October 1st, 2011.

As I've been doing for the past couple of years now, I have once again performed this old folklore to see what the seeds tell me, and here's what they've got to say about this upcoming Winter:(I will have my Winter weather forecast map out sometime in the near future)
