First Snowfall of the season
Posted by: snowave, 6:46 PM GMT on November 13, 2012 +1
After being teased the last 3 weeks with over a half a foot of rain, (and snow levels dusting the tree tops) snow finally came down to the Beaver Valley floor Sunday.

Flurries began earlier in the day, but the steady snow didn't fall until just after dark, at 5:20 PM.

I installed a "snow light" (white flood light facing upwards to the sky) in the back yard... which makes the snowfall visible from the great room and kitchen. During my donut breaks and snow peeks throughout the night, I determined it snowed fairly consistently until around 10 AM Monday.. with a final tally of 7" at the official hot tub measuring station. I still need to check my unheated rain gauge to see what our water total was, which will also determine the snow ratio's.

The lady and I took a drive up to the lakes (Lk Wenatchee and Fish Lk) to see the fresh snowfall scenery... as well as a nice walk with the pups around the neighborhood.

Here are a few pics...

This was a nice little storm for the first snowfall of the season, and in Washington. My only disappointment was that most of the snow fell at night.

Looks like for the rest of this week into the weekend, rain is expected off and on... and snow levels will be rising, so we'll likely be seeing some snowmelt.

I was very close pulling the trigger on the Davis Vantage Vue 6250, but I just couldn't justify the $350 at this point. If this lasts me a couple years and I feel the need to upgrade, I'll probably do it then.

My neighbor Rick (the weather guy) has one in his yard. It looks like the Davis Vantage one to me.
