Blizzard Warnings, Heavy Snow, and Severe Weather...
As we have seen several times already this season, a Winter storm moved out of the Rockies and into the Plains, where it is bringing more than Winter weather to the country.
Blizzard Warnings are posted for parts of the western Plains as over a half foot of new snow will accompany gusts to 50 mph. When you have this combination, the freshly-fallen snow is blown around by the strong winds and makes travel very difficult and dangerous.

Below is the snowfall forecast for the current Winter storm. Note the highest concentration is in the Rockies, but significant snow will fall in the Plains.

Of particular interest with this storm is the severe weather the storm is generating. Several Tornado Warnings have been posted in central Texas, warning of the possibility of significant storm damage, including damaged trees, downed power lines, and vehicle damage.
