A powerful storm is tracking through the Southwest Friday, on its way toward the Rockies.

This storm comes as good news to many areas in Southern California that have received much less rainfall than normal for this time of year. For instance, downtown Los Angeles has only received 4.63 inches of rainfall since July 1 when it normally received 12 inches by this time of the year. Similarly, San Diego has received 3 inches less than normal.
Winter Storm Warnings are already posted for much of the Southern Rockies in anticipation of the over a foot of snow in some locations.
