White Rabbits, White Rabbits, White Rabbits and may August be a wonderful month for us all!

July 31, 2014: WOW this summer is flying by and tomorrow is Aug 1st. Amazing how time flies.

Not sure what I will put in this header yet but wanted to get a new blog entry open for now.

Do not forget to look at my webpage at Fine Art America at
My website on Fine Arts America is up and running now. I do not sell prints so mine are all originals. Here is the link.

I have reduced the prices on many of the paintings in hopes of selling a few of them soon.

Thank you Sandi, I appreciate the hugs. I know things will get better some day but right now.. not so much. And all this is really taking a toll on our marriage because hubby is very upset all the time and pretty much mad at the world...

Things will get better hopefully sooner rather than later. but I do not see sooner in the forecast...

There is not much I can say, except to send ((((big hugs)))) to you and your family.

We have a saying here when bad things seem to all come at once, which is apt for a weather site.

" it never rains but it pours".

Hang in there, the sun will shine someday soon. :-)

Thank you Sandi, I am hoping this event will get me inspired once again to get back to painting.

Hi everyone, still same things happening around here. MIL is still in nursing rehab and has pretty much lost most of her memory...dementia no one is calling it Alzheimer at this point. FIL is the one now that need most of the help and attention and his world turned upside down, he is alone and no longer can drive, My poor husband spends all his Sundays and Mondays doing things with his Dad and taking him to appointments, etc. There will be times each week I will need to take him to the nursing home & help him with some grocery shopping and stuff like that when Stacey is working and cannot do it for him.

And Thursday morning daughter, in law, Pam goes in for a double mastectomy. She has early stage breast cancer, maybe in both breast and she wants them both removed just so she reduces the chance of it returning at some point later. Of course this is going to involve a lot of procedures in the next year, it is not the same as getting a boob job.

I will drive down to Miami to be there Thur morning, which is also Hubby's Birthday, Sept 11th. But I will have his cake and card/gift Wed night just in case I don't get home early enough Thursday.

Rough week ahead but they have pretty much been rough for several months now.

We are all sort of in a "funk" that just does not appear to be going anyway anytime soon.

But the St Louis Cardinals are doing GREAT and what a Miracle, the Dolphins Beat the New England Pats Sunday which had us all so excited. A very unexpected event for sure. Sunday afternoon football (at our house which was packed with some family and neighbors and hubby's Dad) was a nice pleasant celebration.

Hope you all have a great week and thanks for stopping by.

Hi everyone, Today is NFL Opening Day so we will be having our Football Sunday gatherings again starting today.
Also, I know none of you are local but here is the information for the exhibition I was asked to be one of the local featured artist. It should be a good turnout for this one since it is connected to a larger part of the Art community activities. You all have a great day.

Hi Gamma, difficult situation with the "older folk". I hear more and more of that with the people we know up here. (I guess we are in that age group , what with more and more people living into their upper 80's and 90's.) Not easy. Yes the weather was fine on our stay down in Delray. Partly sunny most days, highs 90-93F with a shower or two floating around. We are not "Snow Birds" yet, My wife is an art teacher up here in CT. and will teach about 2 years more. Until then we rent out the place each winter. Even when she retires, she doesn't want to move down permanently because our two "kids" live up here, and her sister too, who she is very close with. When she does retire, we'll probably sell our house and maybe get a small apartment up here, and then live in FLA. 7-8 months of the year and up north for a few months. I think tax wise it's better to have a Florida residency. Good luck down there. And yes, lets hope the Hurricane season will continue to be quiet. Take care. LT---Larry.

Good Wednesday morning. It has been a crazy weekend with hubby's family in town and lucky got a lot of the "paperwork" stuff done to set things up so their Mother will be able to stay in a nursing facility after this 90 day stint is over where she is now. And since their Dad is not in good shape himself went ahead and made sure we can make decisions for him if it becomes necessary. Of course, this is all hard on him. He is having a hard time accepting the fact that his wife will probably never come home again and he knows he cannot take care of her at home even with daily help. And even though he has given up driving because he just cannot see good enough, he refuses to take that King's Point bus everyone else rides that takes those residents about anywhere they could need to go because "only old feeble people take that bus" he is ashame he is now in that group and does not want any of his friends to see him get on or off that bus. The man cannot even walk very far and is confused all the time.
Rough situation here and it could possibly go on for years.
Put the California sister back on plane to go back home yesterday afternoon after 6 hrs yesterday of being with her and FIL doing all kinds of legal work, etc. I was ready for her to leave.

Scott, so good to hear from you again. I did not even know you had a first surgery and now a second one? I sure hope it got what ever was wrong corrected and you will be OK. Very proud of you working so hard to get your degree finished. That is an accomplishment and will come in handy for future positions. You know I rarely see a sunrise unless we are actually staying in an east coast beach front motel; just too hard to drive that far in traffic and get parking down there but glad I did it for my birthday.

LT, so good to hear from you too and thank you. So happy you and your wife got the Delray Condo kitchen and bath all fixed up and you got to bring "the boys" with you. You should have had some pretty good weather for your visit.
Hope you had some fun and ate at some good restaurants while you were here. Are you two going to retire down here someday or will it just be a place you stay during winter months? In other words, are you "snow birds" yet?

So far our 2014 Hurricane Season is turning out to be pretty mild which is good. I know we are now into the peak of the season so still have to be prepared and be aware of what is out there.

I actually have today to myself, not sure yet if I will get in a little yard work after I run a few errands this morning. Hubby wants me to make meat loaf for dinner so I will work on that this afternoon.

Thanks to everyone who stops by and leaves a comment. Hope you are all having a good week.

Happy belated Birthday wishes, Gamma. I don't know about being 16, but 39 isn't too bad! :) Was in your beautiful state for 6 days in Delray, overseeing a new kitchen being put in my wife's condo , and two new bathroom sinks and vanities. Looks great. Visited my wife's 95 year old Aunt in Boca. She's still hanging in there. We drove down and took our two "boy's down with us(our 9 years old Cocker Spaniel Brothers, Ace and Angel). They love traveling, and their "Florida "house!. Took them to a few out-door restaurants in Delray, they were "good boys". We ate of course out side in the patio areas of those places.-- Congrats again, you sure do sound busy.

Patti!

How are you? I'm real sorry I missed your birthday, but 16 is great, isn't it? Don't worry, you are a beautiful lady in either number.

Been off for a while. Still slamming to get my degree. Just started two more courses, then just two more after that and should be finished by December.

At home recovering from my second bout of surgery since last month. Should be off work for one more week, then back to actually earning my money. :-)

I haven't really kept up with what is going on here. I did read something about your MIL needing to go into assisted care, and her basically refusing. Honestly, I do understand. My mother needs the same thing but refuses to leave her house. She is 88 and still able to do for herself, but is going downhill fast. I am afraid one day soon we will have to force her to go. Not a good prospect!

Great pic of the sunrise at Ft. Lauderdale. All of my growing up years in Florida, and never actually made it that far south. I'm just a Pensacola boy!

Happy Saturday, Ylee, Christmassanta, Sandi, everyone who stopped by and left comments.

Things are still a little crazy around here. Hubby's sister from California flew in Wed and she is helping out with a lot of the paper work that needs to be done so that when MIL is done with the 90 days where she is now they will have everything in place to help get her into a long term nursing facility. So glad SIL is here, she is staying with her Dad and helping him and driving him around. Hubby's other sister and her husband who were here a few weeks ago came in last night for the weekend staying with us.
Hopefully now both of the sisters are here something can be decided for both of them. Their Dad is not doing very well himself and totally does not drive anymore which is depressing for him and he refuses to ride the bus their place provides and residents pay for ... and it is an excellent service many residents use all the time.
Anyway, the sisters are going to talk him into taking a little "bus ride field trip" this afternoon with all of them getting on the bus with him and seeing how it works and where all it goes, etc. He will do it if they persuade him.

anyway, everything is about the same around here and I am afraid it is not going to get much better anytime soon and once the sisters go back home (the California sister leaves Tuesday) everything will fall on our shoulders once again.

christmassanta, thank you for your kind sweet words, I try to help as I can but things are getting on my last nerve and hubby is not handling all this well and he is stressed out all the time. It is hard on everyone.

Sandi, sounds like you have had an enjoyable August; glad you got to take a little trip to get away for awhile.

Ylee, our Cardinals are hanging in there and could still possibly win their division, only 1 1/2 games out from what I read but I do not know if they won last night or not.

And today is our youngest daughter, Ellen's 35th Birthday. She was a "Hurricane David" baby that arrived a few days before that powerful storm hit Florida in August 1979.

Thanks again for your comments and stopping by.

Hi Gamms

I haven't been around for a while, I went away for three days last week and luckily had wonderful weather. This week I have been writing and editing my story, and then am visiting family this weekend....and that is August all finished!!

Hope you are coping with all the problems with family. I am lucky in that I don't have any family left to worry about, except my sister, and my elderly aunt, who is still as sprightly as ever, more so than I am, and she is 87!!

Take care, catch up later.

If you let your imagination and your artist eye take over, the small cloud just above the sun looks like an Angel with wings standing on a hill wishing you Happy Birthday from Heaven. If you zoom in on the picture you can see the angel very clearly.God will give you the strenghth you need to deal with your inlaws. It is a burden most of us carry at some point. Unless you have done it you can not imagine the stress it adds to your life. Family takes care of family is Santa's motto. But as you know it is easier said than done. Blessings for strength.

Thank you Rob, Bug, Sandi, Rob and all you that wish me "pre BD" wishes!

Yes, I had a great morning yesterday. Got up at 5am with hubby. Made some breakfast then left for the beach. Got there at 7am just in time to watch the sunrise. It was beautiful with all the African Dust in the air. Very warm.
I parked really close and only had to pay $10 for 4 hrs if I said I was eating breakfast at the Pier Cafe (I didn't but said I did, I told the attendant it was my BD and I needed to park close to the beach, he let me stay!)

I took at 3 mile walk on the beach and it was more crowded than I expected at that time of morning. So many walkers, runners, and foreign tourist (Spanish and even detected European accents and even some New England accents , I guess their kids are not in school yet)

The air temp at 7am was only around 82 so the water was so warm compared to air temp.
But once it reached like 90, it felt good. I sat in my chair in the sun and got in and out of the water to cool off from time to time. I would venture to say our beach ocean water temp is probably in upper 80's this time of year.
I have no idea why I do not do this more often. I think I will. It was so nice.

Then at home, hubby got me a Chocolate Cream pie (I like that better than a birthday cake) and we did the candle the night before... I only used 1 candle, didn't want the small pie to go up in flames.

Also on way home got myself a good bottle of champagne and drank most of it! LOL and had more pie.

It was a very nice day to spend an uneventful BD. Of course the kids / grands and hubby all came through with cards and presents... went out to spend some of it this morning.

This morning up again at 5am, Ellen's boss accidently put her on "summer 7am open the pool schedule" for this week, the kids first week of school so other grandma, "Nanny" and I still have to do the kids school this week, then next week back to normal.
So kids come around 6:30, feed them breakfast, make them brush their teeth, brush their hair, get them dressed, Ellen packs them lunches and brings their school clothes (they arrive in their PJ's barely awake. Their schools are only a few blocks away from where we both live so not a long trip at all, but we have to get them their on time. Rylee needs to be there before 8am but it takes 20 minutes to navigate the "drop off the kids" line.. so I try to leave the house by 7:30.

Then had to get my SUV cleaned and take it in for it's "maintance"...... then had some errands to do.

Now home and put a nice pot roast in the oven to roast all afternoon. Busy morning but got it all done.

watching that system / Invest, interesting.

All my pictures were taken on my cell phone because my old point and shoot camera was not working, again. I will try to post some of them here later.

Again, thank you for stopping by, it was a good day.

Good morning everyone.
Bug, thank you for posting, yes I learned over on FB about Damon. That is so sad. Someone told me a few years ago he was very sick but no one will say what it is. I know they are trying to have a get together for him over on the west coast but no one would make it last Saturday so they are trying again for this weekend. So many of us just cannot get their for the next few weeks.

Hi everyone. Well today is "my" day. 61 years old today.... the "16" Sandi typed sounds better. I am up early, but I tend to get up early these days. I am going to do something I have thought about doing for a long time, I am driving 12 miles east and going to the beach this morning to watch the sunrise and then maybe take a long walk on the beach.
School here started yesterday so "summer" is over; most of the tourist are gone at least for a few months then they come back for winter.... and I should be able to fine parking nearby. I hope to get some nice pictures.

I will probably not be there long, just a few hours. I have a very busy week already planned but today especially this morning will be just for me!

You all have a great day!

Oh, dear.... I'm so sorry to hear about all the stress and problems that seem to be non-stop with the in-laws. While I think permanent skilled nursing care is what your MIL now needs, I feel so sorry for your FIL being upset about this forced separation, temporary or not. It's not his fault that he can't take care of her; he's got his own health issues and it is simply too much for him. If this move becomes permanent, would he even be able to manage on his own?

So, you're turning 16 Tuesday? How wonderful. Hope you enjoy your hibachi dinner tonight. I love those places, too, but we haven't been in quite a while. Our favorite place closed. There are several others around but they just don't seem as good as that first one.

I see Rylee can cast with the best of them. I'll bet you both were pleased as punch when that boater complimented her!

Good morning, Sandi, that inversion to make 61 into 16 sounds good to me.
Yes I do love a dinner at Japan Inn. I love Hibachi foods. Looking forward to going.
Ylee, I remember when I was at work I could also get on the blogs here on WU, most of the other sites had firewalls and against the rules. I see the Cards are doing OK again, at least they are hanging in there for the run for wildcard.

So, yesterday the hospital had to let MIL go, everyone wanted her to stay longer because she just cannot be at home any longer. And finally the family found a Rehab/Health Care center (use to be known as a Nursing Home) that had 3 beds available and they got her in. She went last night and of course FIL is very distraught about all this. He is blaming himself for not being able to care for her at home any longer.
Not sure how long she will stay there, but if she does not get better she cannot go home again. She has to have nursing care because she will not get out of bed and does not feel good but doctors have found nothing wrong with her. It is all so terrible for everyone.

So anyway, still getting those afternoon storms so everything is steamy and soggy but that is summer in the tropics!

Hope you are all having a good weekend!

Happy Friday!

Ylee, Sandi, Bug, thank you for stopping by and leaving a post.

No, we did not go see the Cards while they were in Miami playing the Marlins.
Things are still crazy around here.
I have really not been on here or FB much lately.
MIL is back in hospital since Monday, no one knows what is wrong with her. Though the pace maker she got over a month ago would have helped but at least now she is too weak to be mean and nasty to people. She has been in and out of hospital at least 6 times in the past few months... rarely gets a full week at home before having to return. But she does nothing to help herself.

Plus we had company since Sunday night and they just left last night so I have been "entertaining" all week and had Rylee several days.
Hubby's best friend who lives in The Villages (around Ocala) , his daughter had a baby Monday and he and his girlfriend came down to be here. Well his GF made one appearance to see baby, etc but hanging out with his "x wife" all the time is not really her cup of tea. So she was here at the house a lot with me and Rylee.
I did take Rylee fishing Tuesday (I think it was Tuesday, maybe WEdnesday, my days are mixed up)
We went back out to Everglades Holiday Park and fished off the dock. She caught 4 fish and I caught nothing. But I do not seriously fish when with her, I am more in the "teacher" mode and helping her with her rods and taking pictures of her. That 9 year old girl can cast her line better than most adults I know. She did a cast off the dock and a man in a boat going by yelled, "GREAT JOB on that cast little girl" it made her day!

Next week school starts down here. We have a Bar Mitzvah next weekend and a family wedding in January and I must get a new dress to wear to both occasions. The last one I bought I already wore to events for these families. But being weekend before school starts I know the mall will be so crowded so I will wait until last minute (next week) to go and hope for the best.

Still not painting, my mind is just not in any place right now for creative work. Hope things settle down soon ..... but I fear it will not. I am not sure who will die first, father in law or mother in law; they both are in bad shape but she is the one that stays in and out of the hospital and no one will put her in nursing home.... plus the doctors have no idea what is wrong with her. But in reality, they have survived more medical conditions than anyone still living; they will probably live another 10 years each and just require non stop help and attention all the time.

anyway, hope you all have a great weekend. Stacey is taking me to Japan Inn Sunday night, I love eating there and we have not been in a very long time. My BD is Tuesday (yikes I will be 61 already) so it is not a "big one" this year.. We will celebrate it Sunday night going out to dinner.

It has been raining nearly everyday down here, got over 1/2" last night. At least the Tropical Atlantic is very calm this year, with the low water temps , SAL (African dust) and wind shear seems nothing can get going. It is boring but at least not a danger.

You all have a great weekend!

Tonight, Joe Kelly, who was just traded to Boston from St. Louis last week, starts for the first time for the Red Sox against the Cardinals at Busch Stadium tonight! Not only that, the Cards' pitcher for tonight, Shelby Miller, was Joe's road roommate, and both of them were best men at each other's weddings!

They both bet that whoever gave up a hit to the other had to pony up $100!

Hope you are doing well!

Hey, Gams. Belated white rabbits to you and hope that august treats you well. You've got a birthday coming up, don't you?

Rainy here. Got about a half inch overnight and it's been lightly raining ever since I got up. Three hours with no let up. I'm glad I only have one pressing errand to run. Need to run to Dollar General for cold supplies. Throat lozenges, cough drops and Zyrtec. Juice, maybe. Got plenty of tissues. Can't take OTC cold meds but the Zyrtec will stem the runny nose and help keep my sinuses open.

Yep, I am dealing with one of those summer colds. Sure hope it doesn't leave me too wrung out. With the new system just a month out from going live, if we call in sick, we have to have a doctor's excuse.

I'm sure as heck not coughing up a consult fee to be told, "Rest, drink plenty of fluids and use whatever remedy makes you feel less icky." So, I'll drag myself to work and sneeze all over everyone for pure spite! lol

LOL - you are the second one this month to say I introduced you to The White Rabbit greeting:)

Hope you have a great August, with some sunshine, and not too much rain, nor storms!

Good morning and Happy First Day of August. WOW cannot believe how fast time is going.

Sandi, Over on FB this morning I opened my post with White Rabbits (3 times) and told everyone how my good friend, Sandi, from England taught us this tradition over on WU! So many have never heard of this expression. Evy (Surfmom) did the same greeting on her wall this morning.
All thanks to YOU for teaching us.
Hope it is a great month for us all.

Ylee, yes we are watching TS Bertha but so far it should not affect us. We really do not need additional rain here in SE Fla but I know the Islands are pretty dry and could use a little rain.
We received 1 1/2" of rain the past two days in a row for 3" in 2 days. We are soggy and suppose to have rain showers every day for the next week.
I don't mind the short afternoon thunderstorms but not those rains that mess up most of the day !
Our Cards are still up and down but at least not out of the picture and hanging in there.

I will probably be around more often now that we may get some storms to watch.

Thanks for always stopping by and leaving a comment for me!

1st! Bertha's official now, but it looks like it's going to miss the CONUS, and stay as a tropical storm. I hope they are right!

Cards made a trade with the Red Sox yesterday, but I don't know if it was a smart one. I guess we shall see!

Take care!

Good morning and Happy Thursday. WOW this week went by fast; the entire month zoomed by way too fast!

LT, thank you and I will never "give up" on painting but I really must start selling some of them soon so I can buy new canvas and supplies. People have no idea how much canvas and paints cost. You have a great trip to Florida in August, lucky there will be no storms! Getting a new kitchen is always exciting. Mine is now 2 years old and I still love it every day!

Sandi, I know, this month has just zoomed by and tomorrow is August already! Yikes. I am going to try and set up a new blog thread later today if I can.

NEw, thank you very much. I love "Guarding The Beach" also. I am using that one, along with "The Great White Egret" and "Waterway In The Glades" for the September exhibition. They are three different types of scenery but still all tropical. Yes we have had another really wet summer so far, similar to last year which was very soggy. An afternoon thunderstorm yesterday dropped another 1 1/2" of new rain.

Bug, Hello to you. Been very busy around here. Last week I completed a lot of projects and still have a lot more on my "list" but I am trying to get them done one at a time.

Ylee, Yelp, I am watching 93L out there. It did not look too good yesterday but they can flare back up quickly. It is interesting. And our Cardinals are staying usually in 2nd place in our division but they really need to have a great August and get in the play offs!
