My Dad, aka Papa Joe turned 80 last Saturday. We had one year's notice to make plans to come to Enid Lake, MS (outside of Water Valley, MS) for his celebration.
All my kids and grands were there. My brother's two boys were there (and one of them lives in France these days and he brought his French Girl friend who had never been to America) .. and a lot of my Aunts and Uncles and Cousins some I had not seen in years; some I had not seen in decades. It was wonderful.

But best of all ... my Grands had such a great time out in the country, camping (in cabins) in the woods and doing country stuff I grew up doing but they have always been city kids and never knew about these fun activities.

I took over 240 pictures but only loaded 30 here. I will get them in.
Oh the Pool is nearly finished, still some cosmetic work and hope it is all done by next week. I will bring back the finished pool renovation later but right now it is all about our Big Family Reunion for my Dad's 80th Birthday.

Do not forget to look at my webpage at Fine Art America at
My website on Fine Arts America is up and running now. I do not sell prints so mine are all originals. Here is the link.

HI Gamms! Oh gosh, I came by a couple weeks ago and read and looked at all the pictures of your Dad's birthday party. Very enjoyable. Neat so many family members were able to be there. Then... I visited your art page. And wow! You've got style. I've always thought that your paintings had style, and it has really come out now. Wish you the best with that. I'm kind of dabbling again. Well, I have paint an brushes and canvas. Ha. What I need is... discipline! LOL At least I got back to your blog to leave a note. :)

So glad to see you. Thank you for posting all the pictures. Best wishes to your hubby. Sometimes difficult decisions have to be made with aging parents, and it's strange to become the parent of your own parent, reverse roles and try to help them along in their lives.

You grands sure are growing up fast! Rylee was a toddler for Wilma. I think?
Be safe this year from storms! Take care.

Gamma, it's hard to be creative when life gets crazy; hopefully, your MIL will understand it's hurting everyone else by her being stubborn. I'm as independant as the next guy(or girl, in Sandi's case!), but if you can't take care of yourself, you can't take care of yourself! I hope a solution will be found that benefits all, soon!

Take care!

Oh, heavens Gams, your precious leisure time never seems to be "yours"!
I understand the pressure your FIL is suffering, it is really difficult looking after someone who meds 24 hour care..we went through it with my dad....but in the end my sister no longer could cope, so he had to go into a care home. I do hope I die peacefully in my sleep, still with all my faculties and not too many aches and pains!! I would hate to be a burden on anyone...I am far too independent, and like to do things for myself.

Have a good weekend - I hope you get some time for yourself.

Hi everyone, happy Saturday!
Bug, I know Father's Day right after May 24th has to be hard on you since your Dad passed. So happy you have so many wonderful memories. Yes, Father's Day here was good and it was just family so no one cared about using the old stuff, actually I am keeping the old stuff just need an outdoor table, 4 chairs and umbrella to replace the one that rotted about 4 years ago.
It was a good day. I hope to set up a new blog soon and post some pictures of the pool that is now finished.
Right now I am still in "yard work" mode to try and get the gardens looking decent around the pool.
Thanks for stopping by.

Christmas Santa, what a beautiful poem. Thank you for posting it. Hope all is well in your world and thanks for stopping by.

Ylee, of course they lost... I try to stay away from their games because no matter what kind of winning streak they are on they (and the Dolphins) lose when I show up!
But they seem to be "holding on" just hope they can keep it up the next few months.

So, been hectic the last few weeks, especially with all the problems with hubby's parents... she went home on Father's Day morning and they came over here for awhile because she wanted to come.
Hubby picked them up from hospital, took them home... came home for awhile then went and got them to bring to our house, then took them home a few hours later.
He does all he can on Sun and Mon, but I get the rest of the week... no one else helps out at all..
She went back into the hospital, now in a Rehab and must stay there awhile.... she may have to go into assisted living and she is screaming all the way... but she cannot survive at home and is killing hubby's Dad who really cannot take care of her anymore.
Bad situation all around and takes up every minute of our spare time.

We are truly in our "rainy season" with some heavy showers someday. I am surprise the moisture map still has us light green, bet it turns dark green when it updates this afternoon. Two days in a row with 2 1/4" then over 1" yesterday. and more coming today.

I am still not painting; just cannot do it with all the crazy stuff interfering... I need calm and some time without interruptions to paint and that is not happening the past few months.

I am still scheduled to have an exhibition at the Tamarac Community Center (nearby) for the month of July. I go hang my paintings next Friday. Then one day in Mid-July I will have a "meet the artist" evening. Since it is mostly "elderly" people it is usually on a Wednesday night and I only have to serve coffee, maybe a punch and cookies. Glad it is not a big deal or I could not afford it. My Gallery Exhibition last summer, that opening night cost $500 with the cater and supplies! But it was worth it.. just cannot do it right now..

Thank you all for stopping by and leaving comments.... I usually come her to check the weather everyday but rarely have time to leave a post.

Hope all is well in your world!!!!

A guy from work was going to today's Cards game, and I told him not to go, since they had won five in a row, and he would jinx them! Sure enough, they lost! :P

Hope you are doing well!

I wanted to post this yesterday but lost track of the day with my Grandkids.I wrote this about my Dad.

“Dad”

Just a little fella
A tiny lad
Knew the world’s strongest man
I just called him Dad

He taught me to catch
And he taught me to throw
He taught me lots of things
He knew I needed to know

I remember his hands
So callused and worn
He worked so hard
From the day I was born

He taught me to try
And to never quit
And never talk back
Boy shut your lip

He taught me many things
The first was respect
Trust your “Old Man”
Your mistakes I’ll correct

His ways were tuff
Cause the world’s not fair
Get out of line
He could stop you with his stare

It’s a funny thing
Now that I’m a Dad
I see how hard he worked
For the things we had

It’s no easy task
To be a father
A lifetime of struggle
To a Dad it’s no bother

So I watch my kids
All six of them
My life trophies
Each my hearts gem

They’re growing up
Soon on their own
They’ll be Mom’s and Dad’s
My kids are grown

But I’d like to think
As I get old
They believed Old Dad
And the things I told

Someday I’ll be gone
Just like my “Old Man”
Watching my kids from heaven
That will be so grand

But I still have life
And some time to go
Just loving my Grandkids
And watching them grow

But on this Fathers Day
I bid you peace
Just hug your kids strong
And let your love release

So I say to the man
That raised me right
I miss you more each day
And dream about you at night

Pops up in heaven
That makes me sad
I miss the world’s strongest man
I love you Dad !

Hey, Gams! Wish Poppy and Papa Joe (when you talk to him) and all your other dads Happy Father's Day for me.

I sent cards to both my uncles, as I've been doing for some years now.

I miss Dad. He's been on my mind a lot this past year and more so lately, with his birthday and Father's Day.

I was sorry to hear about the latest episode with your MIL. A pacemaker? Hopefully, that will work out for her.

It really was a stroke of luck that Poppy was at the appt with them.

I doubt seriously that anyone will care today about having to 'make do' with the old pool furniture. Family, food and a pool to play in are what counts!

We had a brief shower yesterday, which was good. I wish it had been more; we need it. It was barely .10th of an inch.

Happy Father's Day to all you "Dads" out there in WU Land!

Ylee, thank you for your comment and Happy Father's Day to you too. And I hope the Cardinals get their act together soon, they are still hanging in the race and doing OK but they are capable of doing much better.

Hubby & his Dad are going to hospital now to pick up Mother In Law and take her home. She got a pace maker on Friday. Lucky I did not have to go yesterday but I was on stand by all afternoon. I was there Thur and Fri with FIL since no one else could be.

This afternoon the "Local" family is coming over for a BBQ Pool Party... we still do not have pool deck furniture or umbrellas but will make do with the old stuff for today.
I need to get out there and clean up the pool as soon as I post this so hubby will not have to do it when he gets back.

We have been getting rain storms everyday and Friday we got 1" so I expect our SE Fla counties which were "red" a week ago and now yellow to hit green soon. Of course by mid summer they will be blue, the rainy season has just kicked in.

Hope you all have a great Sunday!

Bug, thanks and yes the red sauce was so good. I made up enough to put some single servings in the freezer for later so all I have to do is add it to pasta. Too bad about the lawnmower, those things are expensive but we have to have them. Hubby is one of the few neighbors who still does his own mowing and edging and weed eating, aka the "lawn" type of work. But he really enjoys doing it most of the time and no one else gets it as perfect as he wants it done so he does it himself. Sort of like I do the pool work to save that monthly fee and it is not that much trouble. He is actually learning how to do some of the pool maintance like vacuum, brushing and skimming. I still do the chemicals.
Hope our hurricane season is the "bust" like they are forecasting, I understand all it takes is one storm but I have really enjoyed nearly 9 years in a row without having a threat!

Ylee, I know the Cards are not playing like they were suppose to this year. Hopefully they will get their act together soon. They are staying above 500 at least but too many teams are now ahead of them. And the from scratch red sauce is a lot of work but it is worth it. That is why when I go through all that work I make a lot so I have some for the freezer.

Hi everyone, Had Rylee all day this week Mon, Tue and today. Plus we had Nolan in morning and took him to school. Ellen's summer schedule she will be working from 7am - 3:30pm then usually some private lessons. The kids cannot get to school that early.
This week Rylee does not have school or camp that is why I had her all day for 3 days then the other Nanny will have her all day Thur and Fri.
Next week and most of the summer, I will take the kids to camp/day care Tues & Thur and Nanny will take them Mon, Wed and Fri.
Lucky for us, their schools & camp are less than a mile away and closer than that "as the crow flies" LOL Their other grandparents live nearby also.

So been sort of busy around here as usual. And Hubby's mom is back in the hospital again. Hubby had to take them to their Doctor's appointment Monday and she passed out in the waiting room. Lucky there were at a medical office so everyone knew what to do and the paramedics took her to the hospital. Also lucky hubby was there so his Dad would have someone else to help him. When stuff like this happens he gets sort of helpless and confused. Neither of them are in good health.
Still no idea what is wrong with his Mom as of last night the test results are not back yet.

Hope your day is going well and thanks for stopping by.

Your pasta sauce sounded like a lot of work, but I bet it was worth it!

Cards are not doing as well as I hoped, but just maybe they are starting to turn things around. Well, at least they helped the Yankees by beating the Blue Jays!

Hope you are making a dent on the pool area!

Hi, Gams!

Oh, that sauce sounds divine. It makes my mouth water, just thinking about it.

I don't fix spaghetti very often. A bummer, really. It's so easy and so good. Hubby, for some reason, has an aversion to pasta. I think it's more mental, than anything else. He decides he doesn't like something and that's all she wrote. He's worse than a picky child!

So far, the tropics are quiet but it's early days yet. Having an El Nino year doesn't mean we won't get storms; it just means a little less active season.

Our lawn mower went ~~KERPOW~~ a little while ago, as Hubby was starting to do the yard. We've had them lay down and die but never blow up! I'm just glad the pieces didn't hit him. Or my truck. Or the windows of the house.

I told him we need to buy a sheep. Then we could fertilize and mow at the same time. There's also less chance that a sheep would blow up, too.

Hi Karen, yes it is easier to look at pictures here but easier to load them on FB!
WOW our grands are growing up so fast. Yes we all had a great time on our little vacation for my Dad's 80th Birthday weekend.

I know it is 'end of year and summer time for you and your family now. And you all always have such fun summers.

Our kids all had their last day last Thursday. Next week is that "week" between end of school and start of summer camps that the kids have no place to go. So with Rylee, Ellen took of Monday, then I will have her Tuesday and Wednesday and her other grandmother took off Thur and Fri... that is the way we usually cover for her.

Glad you stopped by.

Hi everyone and Happy Sunday!

Oh the house smells so good. I brought back 2 packages of frozen fresh tomatoes from my Dad's freezer when I was there. I knew I wanted to make fresh Italian red sauce with them. Just the tomatoes smell so good & fresh. Once simmering used my mixer stick to take them from whole chunks to puree. Then I added the salute sweet onion with garlic, fresh oregano & basil & of course deglaze with a little red wine to add to sauce. Later I will brown the ground beef & add to make a red meat sauce for pasta. Also picked up Crusty Baguette bread to spread a little basil/garlic butter I made up a few weeks ago which should make this a good dinner later today. Hope your Sunday is a nice one.

Hi Gamma - I must have missed a lot of your photos on FB, but I see quite a few here. Looks like you had a great time!  You have such a wonderful extended family and it's nice that you all had a chance to get together. I can really see the maturity in Riley's eyes - she is turning into a young lady!

The boys are at the end of the 2nd grade year. As my daughter said the other day, they are half way through their elementary school years - and they went so fast!

We got to see Ian in a class play last Friday, and this Friday we're going to Special Persons Day. We've gone every since they were in Kindergarten. The whole school does various dances, songs, etc, performing to all the guests. Then we picnic on the grass.  Then the following Monday we'll go see Evan's class play. The end of the year is such a busy hectic time. So many social gatherings and parties and fun, fun, fun. Then, abruptly, it all stops - but SUMMER starts - so how can that be bad??!!!

Sandi, thanks for the update on your bunch. Amazing how fast they grown. I know you will be happy to see them all again soon.

Rylee is 4 1/2 yrs older than her little brother Nolan, but she only outweighs him by about 8 pounds! He is built just like his Daddy and Uncle (his Dad's little brother) and those guys are built very good, no fat just muscle and great body. They are not tall, and Noly will probably never be tall, but he seems to have the same build, while Rylee is more petite but still very athletic .

Baron was the tiny premature 2 1/2 pounder, who is also on a few of the Autism spectrum but he got very early intervention and a lot of the best therapy you can get. He is in Regular Kindergarten now. Most people who do not know would never believe he had all those problems for the past 6 yrs. He is still very small and tiny boned... but his little brother is going to be a brute like Nolan! LOL Betsey calls him her "devil child" LOL She says she never knew what an easy baby Baron was even with all his problems compared to the "normal" Teagan who will bull doze anything that gets in his way.

Ty looks just like my son, except with white hair, at the same age. Greg was always tall and skinny and Ty is going to be the same way. While Cole is built more like Pam's Dad, tall, big boned and sturdy. He is trying out for football this year and if he can handle getting hurt, he will be great. They are putting him at lineman! of course.

When Nolan was born, all strong and so "boy" and Baron was 2 and still very small, Betsey always said, when they get older we will just hire Nolan to be Baron's body guard to make sure no one picks on him!
Nolan is very protective of his "women" and his "family" ... that boy will take on any one head to head! And did I mention he gets in trouble a lot just because he is such a "boy" child. LOL

Oh well, we all know I love all 6 of my Grands and it is fun watching them grow up.. and they are all so very different, everyone their own individual personality. Which is good; we probably could not handle more than one of each of their types!

Hi everyone, hope you are all having a great Wednesday!

Sandi, I cannot believe your little niece is now 6 with two young brothers. Is she still a tiny little thing and her brothers more sturdy?

Gams, she reminds me so much of Rylee, fine bone structure, delicate looking but as strong as an ox!
Her brother, Tom, is as big as she is, even though he is almost two years younger, and I can see he will be her protector! The baby is still a smiling, laughing, baby. I haven't seen him since Christmas but apparently he is such a happy baby, and no trouble at all.

Hi everyone and Thanks. Been crazy busy which is normal around here. As of yesterday afternoon the Pool renovation aka "face lift" is officially done. Now it is up to us to get everything back in place and do the yard clean up and fix up the garden that has been neglected for nearly 2 years. The hard work begins now. We did clean out the patio really good, clean the old furniture and have a lot of it back in place. Still have to paint some of the outside furniture, get a new small round table with umbrella for outside and another new umbrella that will fit in the hole made for it on the top step. We are hoping to have most of our work done by end of the month and have a pool party in early July. I will bring pictures.

Glad to read all of your comments.

Sandi, oh yes the grands are all growing up way too fast. Cole just turned 11 in early March. Rylee will be 9 July 3rd, Ty was 8 last January, Baron was 6 in January, Nolan was 4 last December and Teagan will be 2 July 11th.
I cannot believe your little niece is now 6 with two young brothers. Is she still a tiny little thing and her brothers more sturdy? Seems I have 3 "smaller" grands (Rylee, Ty and Baron) and 3 "good eaters" (Cole, Nolan and Teagan) LOL
Good to hear from you.

Bug, I know my Dad's BD is also your Dad's BD and you must miss him so much. But yes, we all had a great time as you can see. Those Grands had the time of their life; they all LOVED country fun and had a blast. Good to hear from you. And eventually Papa Joe found out we were "all" coming but he had no idea just how big the celebration was going to be and all the work that went into it. He had no idea I was making the large banner and the giant Sign In Card with his Navy Bootcamp picture on it from when he was 18. And he loved the Painting I gave him of us fishing on Lake Okeechobee at sunrise. It was proper I gave it to him because I thought of him and me out on that lake every moment I worked on it last year.

LT, always so good to see your post. And Thank you so much.

Bobby, Oh yes, you would have LOVED everything we did on this trip. While Stacey and I have a good time when we go back and visit it was even more fun watching the Grands enjoy that life.

Skye, Your sketch is great; you are really talented. I am not good at drawing at all for some reason...and Happy June to you too.

Just a quick post here, got more to get done. Hope you all are enjoying your week!

Oh, man..... ya'll look like you had so much fun! I wanna go widja next time!

Just gimme a cane pole, a can 'a worms and plunk me down on the bank and I'd be happy!

Well, a ride or two on that 4-wheeler wouldn't have gone amiss.

That is one HECK of a smoker - wow.... I know it came in handy with so many mouths to feed.

You had a great time, got some fabulous pictures and thank you for sharing them.

Was Papa Joe surprised? I seem to recall that you were all kind of keeping the scope of this birthday gathering a secret from him.

What fun you all seem to have had! Happy Birthday Papa Joe:)
Love to see how the little ones have grown. Nolan is really growing now, as are Baron and Teagon. Baron is unrecognisable to little boy of a few years ago!

My little great niece had her sixth birthday last Monday, and celebrated it in Portugal with her mum, her gran, (my sister) and her two brothers! They will all be home tomorrow:)

Good morning Ylee, You are right, it is a compound bow... I was pretty sure I was not getting it right but I knew it started with a C! LOL

Oh that smoker was something else. It had like 4 racks inside that rotated. It was pure commercial grade. My brother borrowed it from a friend who's family use to be big in the business from our home town in Arkansas. Actually so big they catered Bill Clinton's Inaugurial Party both times he was elected President.

Yes the weather was perfect for our trip. Thanks for stopping by.

Good morning everyone! Hubby went back to work today and I think Ellen & Christian went back today also. Everyone's "vacation" is over now.

1st! :' ) I'm happy for you that you got some good weather to have for all the fun! I'd like to have that smoker! Teagan's grown a lot, hasn't he?

Small nitpicky detail: Cole has a compound bow, not a crossbow.

Looks like all the kids have the same fish, lol!

...... under construction will be back later.

later: I went ahead and loaded 30 pictures out of over 200, it was hard to narrow it down but you will see everyone had a great time. Most of the pictures from the party were of family and I don't like to put up pictures of family without their permission. My immediate family knows about my blog and knows I will put up pictures of them, been doing it 8 years now! LOL

Oh yes, I was not the first one in my new pool, nor the 2nd! I was out running errands for hubby Tuesday and Greg and Cole came over. When I returned, Cole was already in the pool, he was first.... I think the chemicals were still a little strong because it will take a while to get it all balanced with the new finish and all... then hubby got in to cool off yesterday after he did his work out.... Oh well... You know I will be in as soon as I can but it is going to be a week or two before it is really "ready" for swimming. They will come by every few days to make sure it is perfectly balanced and still some cosmetic work that needs to be done. Hope this weekend to start cleaning out the patio and the furniture and getting it back in the patio again so we can use it again. I do miss my patio a lot.

Hope to get back here soon. You all have a great weekend!

Good morning! Christmassanta, Ylee, Sandi, Bug, Skye and anyone else I missed.

It was a fantastic weekend. I have to replace my Christmas Eve family photo with one we got in Mississippi with ALL of us in it. All of the kids and grands with my smom, Patty and my Dad, Papa Joe.

Those Grands had the time of their life in the wilderness, camping, fishing, swimming in a Mississippi Red Clay muddy water of Enid lake, fish fry at Papa Joe's on Sunday, the BIG Birthday Party with about 70 or maybe more relatives that came in for the event. I saw family I have not seen in years and some in decades. So many pictures after sorting through over 200 I deleted a bunch of bad ones or dups and still have around 130 I loaded on FB but I know I can only put about 20 here. I may open a new blog thread for those pictures.

Also the pool and deck are nearly finished. Only one spot on the deck that needs to be corrected and it is on a corner.
The pool looks great but the hot tub has to be resurfaced; way too many cracks and errors and the manager of the company agreed it needs to be redone.

After that is all done this weekend Hubby and I will start our work. Pressure cleaning all the dust in the screened in patio and outside (dust is everywhere from all the sawing of the tiles) and then cleaning up the old furniture and setting the place back up again.... then the yard work begins. I have not touched my garden in over a year and it looks like it!

Anyway, we all left Monday morning and the 3 of us who drove back did it all in one trip, about a 15 hour drive to get back home late Monday night. Of course yesterday we were exhausted and had to unpack and I did accomplish about 8 loads of laundry...I even made myself get it all put away.

So many great Family memories were made over the weekend. Even Betsey, who does not like camping at all, did ok.... she is not really thrilled that both of her boys had such a great time being out door in the woods camping kids. She was horrified when Baron jumped in that muddy lake water with all his cousins... plus he was holding worms and caught fish and doing everything he saw his cousins do. )Plus when we went to my Dad's on Sunday and they all got to ride that old 4 wheeler in the woods they were all squealing with delight and kept wanting more and more rides. All us adults love to ride that 4 wheeler in the woods too. Most country folks have one of those these days to help out around the garden and for taking trash cans down to the main road for pick up.

Scott told Betsey she has two boys, who obviously LOVE the wilderness and all it entails and she needs to accept it and get use to it and he wants to do more of that stuff with them when they get back home. Also Scott has decided he needs to buy a 4 wheeler for him and the boys! LOL

And yes, Ylee, the Cards are doing pretty good and this Cardinal/Yankee series is exciting. We lost the first one in extra innings, but I think we won last night, when I went to sleep the Cards were killing them but I don't know the final score.

And the kids and grands drove into Oxford, MS to visit the Old Miss Campus and saw a Memorial Day service so they attended which was very good for the Grands (and the kids) to witness.

The trip was not only fun it was also educational. You will not believe the pictures I have of those grands having such a great time together. Some of my cousins were there with their grands so the "3rd Cousins" got to meet for the first time and loved it.

Thanks again for all your comments and I hope to start a new blog thread soon with pictures.
My computer has been running so slow for the past few months and now it is even slower and I am trying to figure out why. I think I have everything deleted and closed that I do not use but still really slow sometimes. May have to have one of the kids come over and take a look. Once I started to delete programs I thought I did not need and deleted a bunch of stuff I did need and had to reinstall again.
Oh well, never said I was good with the computer technical stuff!

Hope you all have a great weekend!

Hi Patti!

It has been a while, hasn't it? Your pool looks great. When is the pool party?

I've been extremely busy trying to complete my degree by this December. Been full time schooling for two years now, along with working, of course. And family too. One day I will be able to breathe!

Still in Germany, for now anyway. It looks like I will be forced back to the U.S. next year. The Department of Defense has a "5 year rule" saying civilian government workers must rotate back to the U.S. after five years. I will have to go back for at least two years before reapplying to return overseas again. Luckily, I am in a position to get a higher pay grade job upon returning, IF I complete my degree by then. Looks like it will happen, though.

Sounds like you had a great time in MS. Please do post pictures with everyone in them.

Luckily, my mother in Pensacola did not have any damage to her house during the flooding last month. Officially, there was over 20 inches of rain at the airport in two days, with some private measurements of almost 30 inches. There was a lot of damage to roads and bridges, though, with repairs still ongoing.

Here's to a quiet hurricane season this year. Certainly do not need any more rain!
