Aug 23, 2013, I loaded up 35 photos from our vacation some from Islamorada and most from Key West and guess what, they were all approved without a lot of problems.. Thank YOU WU Approvers!!!

Thank you all for your Happy Birthday Wishes!!!!
I love my WU Friends!!!

Aug 17, 2013; well actually not yet, we are leaving early Sunday morning and returning Wednesday mid day.
Already have SPA massage at Pier House Spa booked for my Birthday Massage on Monday.

Because this is on the internet & everyone worries when I announce we will be going some place...I also like to add, (for the criminals out there) Our home is never left alone. We will have Ellen, Chris, the kids, the dogs here while we are gone. Plus alarms and very good neighbors who keep an eye on things.

Now that is done hubby will feel better! LOL

I cannot wait to be on the road tomorrow; the drive down the Keys all the way to Key West is just beautiful. I really enjoy that drive in itself.

Geeze I cannot believe I will be 60 this year; where did the time go?

I found out, these maps are measuring fire hazard and soil moisture, not necessary drought according to rainfall.

Hi there Gams,
Glad the medical went well. We don't have such a system here. The doctor calls you in for a blood pressure check about every six months, but if you want a full physical, you have to go private for it!

I remember when I went into the hospital for my pre-op check, the nurse asked me what meds I was on. I said nothing! She said, "What, no blood pressure tablets, or diabetes meds?" I said NO!
My problem is I am over-short for my weight! So all medical persons think I should have high blood pressure or diabetes. I don't!
The only meds I take are OTC Garlic for my heart and Red-vine leaf tablets for my blood circulation!
Touch wood... may it long continue!!

Glad to read you are on a new painting:)

Hi, Gams.

Glad to hear that your physical went as well as it did.

That list of 'age-related' issues sounds familiar.

I find it hard to believe you don't take any daily prescription meds. By the time people get to their late 50's/early 60's, they're on at least one or two. Way to go, Gams!

I've been on several for a while. Not as many as a lot of folks I know. I have two scrips that I have to take daily and one that I have to take weekly. The rest are OTC supplements or 'take as needed' scrips.

Be sure to wish Ellen happy birthday for us!

Hi Gamma - haven't been here in forever! Your trip looks fabulous! Some of the art work I saw in the first few pictures looks just like yours! I thought it WAS yours!

We haven't gotten any rain, but our mountains and deserts did. Here are some pictures from my brother - he lives in Palm Desert. They got blasted the other day!

Hi everyone, Skye, Ylee, Sandi, Jeff thank you for stopping by and adding to the conversation.

Yes, Key West was a blast even when it rains you can have fun there.

Skye you are so right, my pictures did not do the tarpon justice at all. They looked like skinny whales down in that water they were so big. Most were around 5 ft long... which is longer than you!

Ylee, I started a painting that is coming along but I am not getting in any painting hours this week; some place I have to go or do everyday this week so far.

Cards seem to be getting it together once again; hope they can hold on.

Sandi, that would be so wonderful! It was great to be in a real artist's real studio! I was just looking around at her set up and getting ideas. She was so nice and friendly and helpful. Thanks, I like the hat also; have not had one in this style in a long time... the Panama Hat style. But the darn thing was so expensive I will be careful when I wear it and not going to wear it when it is suppose to rain.

Jeff I am so sick of the rain. At least these past few weeks not getting major amounts, just 1/2" here or 1/4" there or 3/4" etc ... but every day we get some rain if even sprinkles.

Yesterday coming out of Publix I thought I was going to get done before the rains came yesterday morning but NOOOOOO it was pouring as I was coming out with my groceries.
I feel like we live in Seattle, WA this year.. I mean I know we get a lot of rain in the summer months but "normally" we get a day here or there that is sunny and dry...but not this year!

So Just getting home again; been out all morning.
Yesterday I had my annual physical with my primary doctor... I had my "list" of problems that have been creaping up the past year and I always forget to ask if I don't have a list.
Anyway, Doctor does not seem concerned about any of them because most of the issues I have are "age" related! LOL nothing serious... but he will really check my blood work when it is returned early next week just in case something is amiss...
My achy muscles especially when I work out... is normal for 60 and he thinks I am in excellent shape for my age.
I get tired so much easier these days than I use to... is normal for my age.
Ringing in my ears, is fairly common...etc etc etc..

He is so surprised I don't take any prescription meds except for my psoriasis cream and he does not really count that. My allergies I use OTC stuff when I need it and Advil for my back pain or sore muscles when I need it.

Anyway, this morning I get a call that the lab said they needed one more vile of blood for my blood work so had to go back to let them poke me one more time.

Also tomorrow is Ellen's 34th BD (our baby)... and Rylee gave me a "things to do list" of things she needed Gamma's help with for her Mama's Birthday.
We will give Ellen her "family" cake and presents tonight. Tomorrow night, the kids always spend at their other grandparents house... so Christian will take Ellen out to dinner tomorrow night on her real BD.

I may now be home for afternoon....maybe I will get to paint some later...

if not tomorrow is looking pretty good without a lot of stuff on my calendar.

Anyway, I have rambled on and on...

You all have a great weekend and thanks for stopping by.

Morning, all! It's pouring at the house. There's a little yellow circle sitting over us, spinning around. And the band of rain seems to just hang out at my place.

But you know what? I'm ok with it. Because Monday, I came home from work and found a dead opossum on the walkway outside my door. I disposed of it, but it smelled really nasty - I don't use that door very often, so it might have been there all weekend. I hosed down the various fluids and poured some bleach on it.

So I'm fine with the rain yesterday and today, to wash away any traces!

Plus..that has to be the low point of my week, right?

Happy Wednesday, all!

Hey, Gamma! Great photos! Blue heaven looks like a fun place!

Painting again? Great! Can't wait to see the rooster!

Cards are now tied at the top of thier division, and begin a 13 game head-tohead-to-head with their division rivals Cincinnati, and Pittsburgh!

Take care, and good luck!

Enjoyed your pics. Looked like a fun trip. Your pic don't do justice to how big those Tarpon are there. I was there a few years ago & some were as long as I am tall.

Happy painting!

Hi Shore,
thank you so much and glad to see you stop by. Yes you know we had a good time in Key West and our trip both ways.

Emmy said over on FB that her area got a little rain this morning, not sure if it is still raining now.
Sure hope you all get a lot of rain from the systems in the GOM... I hate seeing states so dry and needing rain so much while here in Fla we are dumping rain water into the ocean as fast as we can to keep from flooding and to hopefully Prevent Lake Okeechobee levees from being breached. They are already starting to seep and that is scaring the hell out of everyone to the south and south east of the lake.

I have been doing a lot of my ranting about this pet peeve of mine over on FB the past few months...

This problem should have been taken care of years ago but between local politics, big Sugar and Washington DC ..nothing gets done and the support has been there for over 20 years.

I hope to attend a Rally south of Lake next Sunday to help bring attention the need for action, NOW not just promises until after the next election then they get forgotten.

Anyway, I am painting again and hope to learn how to balance the Marketing part of being an artist with the need to keep on painting... it is a balancing act.

Again, thanks for stopping by glad to "see" you again!

Late happy birthday, Gamma! It looks like you had a wonderful trip - the photos are splendid. Of course, what's not to like about a trip to Key West? There's so much to enjoy there - especially the Cuban coffee and pastries.

There was quite a stir down there a few months ago when someone sued to get the cats out of Hemingway's house. I did a quick look but didn't find any news. I hope they ruled in favor of the cats and Hemingway's estate. Some traditions - like a trip to the Hog's Breath - should just be left alone!

Enjoy your afternoon. We're still waiting on rain. It looks like it might-maybe-sorta could be coming, but it's still mostly offshore. We have our fingers crossed.

and yes, we all are sick of the rain this year; wish it would go to Texas and points West where it is needed. Especially with all those fires out there.

Oh I did score Jimmy Buffet's latest CD that went on sale Tuesday morning...
And I got it at the "Original Margarita Ville" in Key West!!! A lot of "Parrot Heads" were there as soon as they went on sale.

Also got a new Panama Hat and some great sandals that are "good for your feet" ...with some birthday money..

and my Caribbean Coma Massage at the Resort Spa ...gift from the kids...

and plenty of Champagne, of course... LOL

I had tears in my eyes when we had to leave yesterday but I always shed a few tears when I have to leave Key West. I love that place!

It is just way too expensive to live there..

Hey, Gams. Bet you're on the road now, headed towards the Keys.

Safe travels!

I'd better wish you Happy Birthday now, while I have time. Hope it's a great one and that massage sounds wonderful.

I've got several appts next week (one on Monday), which means I'll have a very limited lunch break on those days. I'm afraid I wouldn't get by here to wish you many happy returns of the day.

I was going to trek to Key West for my birthday also, well actually I didn't want to go, the boy did. I just want to go offshore fishing and go to brazalena's for dinner. I live in the upper keys now.

Have a great day and have fun down there.

Happy Saturday!

I went down to The Fruitful Field this morning - I hadn't been out there for a few months..in part because it's been so hot. Part because I had that broken toe and couldn't wear good shoes.

Lots of weeds grow through the summer - we're getting them back under control to get ready for the fall planting season. We have stuff like okra growing right now. But we have lots of things started in the nursery. Big addition going on right now is aquaponics. It's basically a like hydroponics - growing in water instead of dirt - but with fish to help balance out the little ecosystem.

I cleared out one of the side plots - they'll mulch it over during the week, and plant it when the weather cools down a bit.

Gamma, have a great time in Key West! And in case you aren't online while you're gone, have a great birthday!

Thanks TK! I will for sure.

Bug, I went back to prev blog to read your entry.

I have a darker complection and I get those "liver spots/ age spots" also .. the older I get the more of them appear.

My dermatologist also said they were from sun damage not "age or liver related" LOL but I only started getting them the past few years!

I must get going still a lot to get done so we can get an early start tomorrow morning!

Thanks everyone.

Oh yes, that ULL seems to be drawing some of the clouds off South Florida (thank goodness)

but Panhandle is getting killed with more rain...

but now our rain chance for the next five days is only 20-30% which is about normal for this time of year... and does not appear to have any "systems" anywhere near us for the next few days...
So hopefully no full days of rain while we are down there!!!

Yeah!

I have been a "weather geek" all of my life and living in the tropics since '79 has just made it more interesting. Great site for info and friends.
