Aug 19, 2012: Thank you all for all the happy birthday wishes you have left here for me!
It means a lot!!! WOW I am 59 now! YIKES!!!

See my post #7 for details of my good news!

Aug 15, 2012: I said in the previous blog I had been keeping some secrets. I think I will be able to post them in this new blog when I get a chance today.

but until then I want to set up a new clean blog!

-------------------------------------- ---

Here are my weather Maps. This one had to be removed from my above the blog spot; it was causing my computer problems.

-------------------------------------

I found out, these maps are measuring fire hazard and soil moisture, not necessary drought according to rainfall.

Hi Patti,

On the current 5 day forecast the center of Isaac is sitting right over Pensacola on Wednesday. Funny enough it was Ivan in 2004 that really messed up Pensacola. Something about "I's"....................

Good morning my friends,

Today is sbKaren's birthday. I take it her blog here is closed but you can leave a message in Sandi's blog or send her mail.. and those on FB can leave her message there.

Bug, I see you stopped by yesterday, yes the "waiting and watching" is the stressful part. Once you know you are going to get hit; then you go into action mode and start putting your action plan together.
But looks like Isaac is going to head into GOM and leave the Eastern side of SE Fla and probably your area a lone.

We may make it thru this year without a hit; we have been clean since Wilma down here. I mean we have had a few of those tropical storms that amounted to nothing..but not any real threat. I don't think we have even had any school or work days missed since Wilma due to storms.

I am a little busy this morning so I will try to get back as soon as I can. You all enjoy your Friday.

Hey, Gams.

Nothing like this watching and waiting, waiting and watching....

I'm counting down the days until end of the season!

Do you think we'll make it this year, without getting hit?

Hi Everyone, back at the office this morning....
but only 8 more days to go!

Jeff, we got a nasty storm yesterday afternoon. For some reason rain is drawn to my area!

Bug, Oh yes, we "coastal" folks must keep an eye on our hurricane supplies and check our generators from time to time!
I understand about "wishing" these storms away from us and how that is now so hard because we actually know folks in the areas!
However, the Tampa/St Pete crowd is almost deserving of a storm. Been 90 years since they were hit and They have been wishcasting a storm to Tampa since I have been here on the WU blogs in 2005.
That crowd from Tampa area (here in Dr Master's blog and on Facebook) are just nearly peeing in their pants at the prospects of an Isaac hit on them!

I doubt Isaac will hit Tampa, it could end up in the GOM which is NOT good, or it could still wobble around a lot more in the next 4 days. We will watch.

Finn, that is right!!! I will be up your way as soon as I can to catch up with you over lunch at Dave's!

Sandi, Hi busy lady!! Thanks for the flyby!

Yikes!

Double check your supply closet, give the shutters a dry run and keep your eyes on those tracks.

I foresee some sleepless nights, while we're glued to the computer and model runs!

I was telling someone at work today I feel so guilty now, when begging those storms to hit somewhere else. Now that I've been here on WU all this time, those Somewhere Elses have people I know living there. That's where the big guilt trip comes in. Not that I want 'canes to hit anyone but now that I know folks all over the place, it isn't as easy to shrug off, mumbling 'How awful for them.". It has gotten personal.

I don't know if I'm expressing myself well or not but I think you know what I mean.

I'm watching the radar..these storms do seem to be coming for you, Gamma.
It just starting pouring at the office.  It was darker and windier about 10 minutes ago.  I'd call it squally, if I thought this was tropical.

The severe weather statement calls for nickel sized hail out near you.

Hi NEw, This afternoon I took everything out of the hurricane supply closet and put it all back in so I know where everything is located.
I think I am set for the season, plenty of the stuff we need for at least a week or two.

WOW, had no idea while I was busy it was getting dark and stormy outside. a nasty line of storms heading my way. Hope the power does not go out.

I have work tomorrow so if not back tonight...and I am sure I will be back to check on Issac...
I will check in while I can at work.

only 8 more "working days" until Sept 21st!

Gamma,as it stands right now, eveyone in your area should be making preparations right now.No way to tell the exact track, but more and more it looks to make a very close pass to you,if not a direct hit.BUT still early, still so much to set in place, troughs and highs need to be forecasted where they set up and thus the storm finds the weakness to follow.

Good morning,

Collins, thank you and glad to se you stop by. Oh yes, looks like Isaac is going to be on my front porch Monday at 2am. in the center of the cone! But most of the time this far out they do not stay on course so it can go on either side of me. we will see.

Wanda, I know I am so excited. Cannot wait. There are so many things I want to do. Especially my art.

NEw, this morning the "cone" is out at 8am I am in the center of the landfall Monday morning at 2am...
I hate night time storms..

at least Wilma was a morning storm so we could watch it and then go out during the eye and then start clean up once it passed.

So since I do have work this week, Thur, Fri, Sat I need to check my supplies; perhaps fill up 2 cans with generator gas. Just get ready in case.

You know I will be checking in more today.

OK so I finally made it here to read your big news! Congrats to you! That is GREAT.

Had I stayed in New York working for the State, I'd be able to retire with full benefits at age 55. So I'd only have a couple of more years to go. Of course I'm glad I don't live there but that early retirement is so attractive. A lot of my friends up there will retiring from the state soon.

You'll love the time being all your own, trust me I've had 2 times over the last few years of a couple of months not working. You don't miss it at all, the time goes by so fast and you stay so busy.

gams, more and more models are curving it norhwest,as a weakness forms around Florida and Bahamas. You people have to watch this real close.Read Levi's forecast and the westward movement is becoming less and less likely.Everywhere on the east coast is going to be watching this one.It may get ripped apart over Haiti,on the other hand I hope those people don't go through this.

Bug, that one is going to be one worth watching for another week.... looks like SE Fla or SE USA aka South/North Carolina......

it could go west longer and get into GOM or plow into Central America....

watching it carefully.

Oh I emptied 1" of rain from the gauges.
I have one on each end of the yard.

This was from Sat afternoon and Sun Afternoon.
I emptied it Sat during lunch with the Thur and Fri 1.5" of rain.

Yesterday my neighborhood did not get rain but it looks like it was rainy all around us... glad it hit other areas yesterday and gave us a break.

we are so soggy, I have critters digging burrow holes on my side yard that is always very soggy.

Good morning,
No Noly this morning, he is now going to school like a big boy so it will give me a little more time.

Also a little break when they live here for the next 6-9 months.

NEw, thank you very much. I enjoyed the singing. I had a lovely, howbeit, quiet birthday this year which is good!

Jeff, I saw that over on FB and commented. Sometimes I wonder where they get some of our weather reporters on TV! They act like have don't have a clue what they are talking about! LOL

Bills, good to see you and I read your mail! LOL will reply later.

Conchy, thank you so much, glad you came here.. I am not putting it on FB yet until all paperwork is signed. It is pretty safe here. Yes I will still be very busy but doing things I want to do most of the time!

Skye, thanks for the info. I really don't eat red meat that much. Rarely more than once maybe twice a week. Most meat we eat is chicken. I hope when I get to cook more often I get to add more fish in our diet.

Karen, I know, I have "defriended" some FB "friends" also... and all those "requests" I never do any of those apps that you have to give personal information. I have my privacy setting to friends only...
Yes most of my family's seniors get various types of arthritics so it does run in the family... but very few allowed it to really slow them down a lot.
I know I have it and want to start making sure it does not get worse. I saw on FB you are going in to the school today to see how your media center is doing. Hope you find it all well and good.

So good morning everyone. I see they did not change TD9 to TS Isaac at 11am.. probably later.
I think the dry air is slowing down development.
It appears this is one we will need to watch later this week.

Going to make Chick Parm for dinner so need to get in the kitchen and start the red sauce... or as Italians call it "gravy" LOL
Will check back later..

Gamma~ You're not gonna like this, but I care...it could totally be your sausage & biscuit. You should try an antiinflamatory diet. Mostly vegetables & fruit, some grains, no glutton, no nightshades (tomatoes, eggplant), as much raw food as you can. Add ginger/ginger candy, turmeric & feverfew. Hope you feel better:)

Hi Gamma: Haven't been here in FOREVER it seems. My virus scan doesn't like WU but tonight it seems fine.

Retiring! You are so going to love it. I'm into 2 years now and even though I'm doing real estate (which is extremely busy as our market is trying to correct itself), it is nice to not have the other commitment.

Gamma - hope the arthritis is nothing too serious. To be honest, staving off arthritis is one of the reasons I stay so active. It definitely runs in the family - my mom and aunt both have crippling looking hands, and my brother (the one just 18 months older than I) has rheumatoid arthritis. It has effected him big time. He was always a very, very active guy. Not so much anymore. Makes me kind of sad, but he has handled it very well.

My mom has had two knee replacements and a hip replacement, but we believe those are due to playing tennis on hard surfaces for years, plus she had polio when she was in her early 30s. There have been some studies that have shown that it can return, in an off hand way, to joints that were affected earlier in life (hence her hip).

You can set your privacy settings on FB so that only friends see your postings. That's how I have mine set up. I have set up all the privacy I can, but I do love FB. I have unfriended a few people that just rub me the wrong way (they don't know you do that by the way), and I have limited my email notifications to only getting an email (weekly) about birthdays. I used to get an email about every posting made on my wall, or response after me. It was getting ridiculous!

I also limit how many pages I 'like' because that usually means you are allowing someone to access your information.

I'm about ready to unfriend a few more folks if they don't tone down their politics on FB. But our school has a 'page' and it's a great place for parents and staff to put notifications, etc.

Sorry, didn't mean to ramble! Hope all those swirlies out in the Atlantic just remain swirlies for everyone! I'm ready for our heat to leave! IT's too much!!

NEw, I have had psoriasis all of my adult life (since about 26 yrs old) but I have been able to keep it under control with the creams ...for the most part but now it is spreading and affected other parts of my body..and especially my finger nails.. they are like tissue paper and tear so easily..... and cream does not work there.

And having psoriatic arthritis is one of the 3 I could have. That is why I had the xrays and getting blood work so we will know which one I really have and start working on it.

Yes, as Bug reminds us, "Getting old is not for sissys" !!!

Got to get going...

Anyhow, took Friday off,so how come the weekend didn't feel any longer? And double the week waiting for me when I get back.
Active Atlantc, thankfully so far, they have struggled, but wind shear is lower out there,so wondering if our luck is going to lose out.

So I may take it easy this morning then I have an appointment at noon to get some blood taken for blood work for the 2 week follow up from my appmt last Friday.

The doctor ordered some xrays and blood work so he can figure out which type of arthritis I have and we will know how to deal with it to keep it from getting too much worse.

Hope we can find out if it is arthritis that causes so much of my low back pain...

Oh well, all these doctors come along with age! LOL

You all have a great day, I will be back later.

Good morning,

Sipping a little coffee; also put some biscuits in oven and cooking up some sausage patties.. nothing like a sausage and biscuit!

Huri, thank you and it was a lovely day and evening.
and with the great news I got earlier in the week I was so happy! Good to see you!!!

GG, you are doing better than me, I still have not got out on many blogs lately. Thank you for stopping by and it was a lovely birthday.

Sandi, I know isn't it funny. on FB only your "friends" can see your post but you become "friends" with everyone..it is hard to ignore a friend request...
I did "defriend" someone from work who came to work and started talking about what I did over the weekend in a staff meeting! Then another situation came up I said something on FB that got back and it was nothing to do with my job!

And people who are not your friend can see your post on a common friend's wall!...

And this blog is on the internet and ANYONE can read it but it has never really caused me any grief!
I am just careful not to give out "real" names of people (at least not last names) and use my company's name on here.

Some friends at work come here for real weather info but they never read my blog or any of the blogs except for Dr Master's blog. And people who are not your friend can see your post on a common friend's wall!...

I will never give up my WU Blog!

"FB is not nearly as private as our blogs!"

I equate FB to the UK gutter press, 'The Mirror' or 'The Sun', and WU to the more discerning newspapers, like 'The Times'!

That's why I could not get on with FB ... too gossipy for my liking! lol

Looks like you and Poppy had a great meal out for your birthday, and as GG said, you are about to receive the best BD present of all! :-)

You wear your age very well also. I think it is because we are so outdoor active..
I mean I know the "sun is not good for you" yaddayadah yadah..
but I think being outside is great for you.. just don't get sunburn!

I know I cannot believe it.. I only have 8 more "working day"... I am so excited.

too bad I am not saying anything on FB yet.. got to keep it quiet there until all the paper work is signed.
never know what could happen over there..

for some reason, FB is not nearly as private as our blogs! I guess because only us weather/nature photo geeks come here!

Gamma - you wear 59 very well. Matter of fact it looks like it really doesn't fit! Sounds like you have a very busy week getting ready for the kids. Things are ramping up here too. I've got a home owners assoc. mtg this week, a board mtg for the organization I joined, the boys all day Wednesday and then over night, and back to work on Thursday. I'm taking Friday off (my birthday) and hoping to get more boogie boarding in. I just have such fun when I do.

Then I'm having the family over for dinner Sunday night and work officially starts Monday with the kids starting on the 29th.. where did summer go???

Pretty soon, very soon, it won't matter what day of the week it is for you!!! I'm so excited for you.

Hi everyone,

Spathy, I did not see your post because we both hit enter at same time. Thank you that is sweet.

Bug, I will have to "bring in some money" eventually even if I take SS at 62 which I plan to do..

I am hoping to make a go of my artwork and hope I can work out a little income selling it. we will see.
but at least I have a little breathing room!

Rob, than you and yes I already call myself an artist now I just need to execute all my action plans... I will go full force in January, but for the next few months I have other things I must take care of first..

Jeff, it is HOT outside, Hubby been doing yard work all day... I decided to do inside things this afternoon after my 5 mile walk this morning.

Bay.. thank you so much, glad you stopped by!!

Hi Gamma!

Dropping by to wish you all the best on your birthday! Truthfully, you look terrific and so much younger than your actual age. Your fitness program and positive mental outlook have certainly gone a long way in keeping you looking so youthful and trim. Keep up the great work and, next year, you'll blast age 60 right out of the park!

By the way, it is HOT outside!  I just drove back from my weekly lunch out east.  Clear skies, so I had the top down in the car.  I'm sweating.  I have a few chores to do at the house, then back out to run some other errands.  I need to drink some cold lemonade or something.
