August Summer!
Posted by: seflagamma, 12:45 PM GMT on July 27, 2012 +0
Aug 12, 2012: Today is the birthday of two of our WU friends, Storm Junkie and DocNDswamp. I always call Doc my Leo/Snake/Bro because he is exactly 1 weeks older than me.

Aug. 9, 2012 new grandson Teagan was 4 weeks old. tomorrow Aug 11th he will be 1 month old.
I got two pictures Betsey took of him yesterday off Facebook and loaded it up here on WU (I Hope it loads properly) so everyone can see it. He is so cute and growing so fast.

Aug 9, 2012: Happy Birthday Ogal!

Aug 3, 2012, 3:12 EDT: TS Ernesto still rolling into Caribbean. Now today we have added 90L off Africa and that is a Big Swirl.. and that tropical wave off our SE Fla coast between us and Bahamas, has been named 91L.
Cannot believe that "wave" has now started swirling right over our heads! Got a big storm with a lot of wind and rain from it during lunch time today.
All Eyes are on the Tropics!

Aug 2, 2012: TD5 was named TS Ernesto this afternoon. If it survives tomorrow it could cause some trouble down the road.
Keep your eyes in the Caribbean for the next week!

July 27, 2012: Finally a new blog thread.
Summer Rocks!!!!
Not sure what I will put in here but I am sure I will have something before a few days pass by!
I think that not having a "named tropical system" during the month of July is not normal....
I know in 1992 Andrew did not form until end of August....
but that was not a normal year either.
So been very lucky this year...so far!

Here are my weather Maps. This one had to be removed from my above the blog spot; it was causing my computer problems.

-------------------------------------

I found out, these maps are measuring fire hazard and soil moisture, not necessary drought according to rainfall.

Oh, Gams, he is adorable .... and twice the size of Baron at the same age.
Talking of Baron, how is he coping being "Big Brother"?

Good morning,

Ylee, yes hoping this one either takes the Florance route or the Ernesto Route and leaves us a lone. We do have a soggy weekend coming up starting today with that wave to my SE.

Sandi, yes he is. Actually Teagan is bigger than Baron was at 9 months old! Baron could do all the motor skills like sitting up on time and crawling, etc.. he was just so tiny doing it people freaked out thinking he was only a month or two old! Baron is being a good big brother so far. For the most part he thinks his little brother is boring and he did not get the "playmate" he was counting on.. I don't think he expected a boring little baby!

Hi everyone, we have a 70% chance of rain today.. after the 3" we got last Fri and Mon (1/5 " each day).. we are already soggy in my area. Our drainage canals are up to the top with water and no place to drain...

Back at work.. yes it is Friday..and another busy day for me. I think since we are so lean staffed it is going to be this way for a while..At least the day goes by faster when I am out on the production floor most of the time.

I am going to be peeking in as I can on Dr Master's blog to keep up with all the "systems" out there...

You all have a great day!

I can't believe it's been four weeks already! My, what a handsome boy he is - and how funny that Baron is a little impatient with all that just-laying-around business! I love that froggie he's wrapped in - too funny.

Wish we could get some of your slogginess. It's going to be hot and dry again today - looks like that big pile of dry air that's been over Oklahoma and north Texas is moving south. Oh, joy. We'll just have to keep hoping for some rain with no name, and some drying out for you!

Hope the day goes quickly. Thanks for posting the Teagan pics - we non facebookers appreciate it lots!

Hi Shore, I wish I could send you some of my neighborhood's excessive rain too.

Betsey posted those pictures last night on her FB wall and I decided I had to get them and try to load them to my home desktop then I could load them here on WU.
I did that BEFORE I left home for work this morning at 6:30am!
You, Sandi, Ylee, Bug and several other friends are not on FB so I do try to transfer some of those pictures over to here.

It is funny, Baron was so excited to get a little baby brother then after Teagan was born he was almost disappointed! Lucky he still has his schedule and his friends so I guess he will give his little brother a chance to growup some more before having a new playmate.

It is my goal today to read some of your WP stories I have misssed... I think today will be the day!!!! I use to read them as soon as they were posted but life has been a little crazy lately... but that is nothing new.

Hope your area gets some rain soon and cools down a little; sure don't want you all to get back in a drought situation like you were for over a year.
Thanks for stopping by.

Good Morning. Little (big) Tegan looks so cute in the frog pj's. Wonder how long it will take for him to "lap" Baron on height when he gets to walking around.

Hi GG, yes he is a good size boy. That is a Frog Baby Towel he is wearing. All the little infants u se them after their bath.. actually Baron still uses one after his bath and it is also a frog!

Baron is very small for his age so his little brother will probably catch up with him in a few years...
We think Teagan will have a chance to be a good size boy since he got a good start..

Last hour at work.. yeah... maybe it will go fast!

I cannot believe on the moisture map my Broward County is yellow, the only county in the SE that is yellow.

What does it take? We got over 1.5" of rain Friday, and another 1.5" on Monday. Granted the last few days were dry but geeze, our drainage canals are overflowing in my areal.

I guess it is all the areas to the east of me that is not getting rain.. also looks like a section of the Everglades in West Broward is yellow also.

With the rain expected today and this weekend, it will green us up again; just wish the people who really want it will get it and it stays out of my neighborhood!

Have a great weekend if I don't make it back today.

Hi Gams, seeing this comment in reply to GG reminds me of my great niece and nephew.
Orla, being a premmie, is very small and delicate for a four year old and her brother, Tom, who is just two, is taller and much "wider" than she is! lol

Hope Saturday goes quickly!!

Oh, I also saw your comment in GG's blog about her working week... it has changed and no longer matches yours. She begins work Sunday and finishes Tuesday or Wednesday, I believe, so you are not the same any more:(

Gamma, what a gorgeous little boy. I am sure all are pretty proud of this little guy. He has the makings of being a big fellow as he grows. Gotta love grandchildren. They are our gift for the patience we had to show as parents. Now we get to spoil them rotten and let momma and papa deal with it...LOL

Have a great day dear ones.

AH! QUICK! Grab that baby! He's being swallowed by a frog!

Ah, Teagan is as cute as a button, Gams.

Poor Baron. I guess he was excited and worked up by all the talk about this baby brother he was going to get. There he was, expecting FUN and someone to play with. All this fuss over someone that doesn't do much of anything except eat, sleep and mess his diapers. What a let down! lol

I'm with you, in hoping that we don't have any problems with those invests. We're having enough trouble with the regular rain. You're getting more than we are but it has been daily for us for the last week or 10 days, if not more. July has been fairly wet for us. Wish I could send it to Wab and Shore and all the others that are under that heavy drought.

Gams, Teagan is a doll. Steve W posted on my birthday and I asked him if his wife was still in baby land and he said she had come home. Does she go back in a couple of weeks when school starts to help with Baron? Thought I remembered that from somewhere. Hope your work day moves along quickly. Looks like a rainy weekend for all of us. My beautiful gardenia bush is covered with mildew. I hate this humid time of year.

Thanks for my happy birthday goodies!

Hi Patti!

We are in Pensacola until Monday morning. Just came from Denver. LOVED Rocky Mountain National park. Hiked, rode horses, etc. Off to Ohio for my course. In other words, back to work!

We'll hit Pensacola beach tomorrow for one last fling. Mom is doing well at 85.

Writing from her IPad as she does not have an internet connection in her house. Takes a little getting used to.

Good morning!

Ylee, I made it! It was a hard week and it was a short week so that is not good! LOL

Sandi, I know, Rylee is very petite and little Nolan is a bull. In another year he is going to weigh more than her. Right now she is only 8 pounds heavier than him and she is 4 yrs older.

Same with Baron, Nolan is 2 1/2 and Baron 4 1/2 and Baron weighs more by a pound or two. No doubt Teagan will pass up his big brother in a few years.
Oh I did not know GG changed working shifts. Thanks for letting me know. So much when on while I was not out on the blogs. I must catch up soon.

AllyO, thank you and yes Grandchildren are our Reward for raising our kids!

Bug, Hi and LOL!!thanks! I just looked and it seems that TD7 has disapated and the invest is going out to sea so maybe we are getting a little break!

Ogal, yes Helene came home last week but she is going back the first of September for a few weeks.
Steve will go up for a few days then fly back home.
It rained here several times yesterday and we have another 40% chance today.
I noticed another inch in the gauge when I got home last night.
I cannot believe that moisture map still has Broward County as yellow. I have no idea what it takes to make it move. Now I have had over 4" of rain in the past week in my neighborhood and our canals are full
and it says we are a little dry!

Scott, Welcome home. Hope some of those rain storms are missing you and not messing up your vacation. I would love to go visit those Rocky Mountain states someday for a vacation. My Dad has gone several times and he loves it.

WOW I nearly burn my biscuits while I was typing the last post!

Today will be busy then tonight we are going out to dinner with our neighbors across the street.

And, for those of you that know him, today is
DocNDswamp's Birthday. Also it is Storm Junkie's birthday.

I already dug up his blog.
It is easy for me to remember Doc's BD because he is exactly one week older than me. He always gives our new age a 7 day test ride before I have to face it.

So go over and wish him a Happy Birthday!

Good afternoon Gamma! Long time no see. Been swamped under as well. Too much going on.

I guess we are still yellow as I only have a half inch in the rain gauge, so when it averages out you guys out west are green, the east side of town is orange!

Is your kitchen remodel finished?

Now, you know I oughta spank ya for advertising this "getting old" stuff, young lady...

But a Big Thanks, my Leo / Snake / Sis, Gams!

Just had an odd coincidence - we've had a ton of unneeded, over-abundant rainfall this year across SE LA, I mean whopping, compared to last year (while other parts US suffer with drought)... and, just added another .78" amt, which now brings my yearly total in inches to match my age - a tad over 59, lol!!!

You betcha, I'll do my part, check out this "59" stuff for ya!
Best wishes, and good day (((Gams)))!

Burnt biscuits put hair on your chest, Gams! Good for ya! LOL

You have to be careful, blogging and cooking at the same time. You sit down for what you think is just a quick peek and the next thing you know...

Sniff... sniff...

OMIGOD!

And you're flying for the kitchen.

Good morning

Bills, I have another inch in my gauge just from Sat and Sun.. I see we are back to light green after yesterday's update.
I know your side of town is not getting much but we are so soggy out here.
So happy to see your post here. Hopefully you and I both can get some of our work done and get back to blogging more often!
Are you going to some of those other weather websites some of our friends have moved on to?

Bug, I know I caught it just in time, a nice darker golden brown but they were still keepers and good!
Slap some sausage in between that hot biscuit and you got a good breakfast!

Doc, glad you had a good birthday and of course I am going to advertise the fact!!!
You are my Leo/Snake/Brother!!!
So far you have used the 59 for nearly 24 hrs... I take it is going well???

I tell you (I saw your blog posts before coming here)
I also have the mind of a much younger person than my body feels. I cannot do a lot of the things I could do just a few years ago. I get tired much quicker and very sore easily..... and I like to think I stay in pretty good shape for an old woman!

Hope to see you around more often!!!

Good morning everyone,

You know,I've been thinking, I know we are subtropical and have a distinct dry & wet season.
and I think we get as much rain if not more than the NW (Seattle Washington, etc)....
But there are places in California or South West that do not get more than a few inches a year.
We can get more rain in a month than they get all year.
Yet, you never hear about them being in drought, I guess because they are always in a drought according to our standards,
you don't hear about water rationing and it does not even make the news.
Them getting rain makes the news.

How do they live so easily without rainfall????
and we go in panic mode if we don't get 3-4" per month?
Does not make sense to me...Do they have special places they store water and our Lake Okeechobee and Everglades is not enough to store water for us?

Our 6 month Dry season is dry, but normally we know the rains will come starting in May or June.
I wonder how the really dry parts of the country do it so easily and naturally and we cannot?

Just my thinking...
Don't get me wrong, I like living in a moist environment. Humidity is good for our skin and bodies compared with extreme dry. And I have not had to drag out the water hose for my back & side yard gardens since May! '
My area has had an exceedingly wet summer this year according to my rain gauges.
But sometimes it is nice to get a break from the daily rain. We have mushrooms and fungus growing out here and our canals are still full to the top.
God help us if we get a wet tropical storm thru here anytime soon.

anyway enough on my rain thoughts!

This morning hubby and I have errands, then a 1:30pm dental checkup... Oh dear I hate dental check ups!

I have had a bad case of TMJ for past 3 weeks, it is starting to get better and I have no idea what caused it.. probably stress...it makes your jaw hurt, your ear ache and the "ringing" is even worse.
Hopefully my dentist, my hubby's brother can tell me how to prevent it from happening. It is my first time to ever get it...
Then we have some errands to run together this afternoon.

Busy day ahead..

and more things going on here than I have told you yet! Will try to get to that soon....

I just emptied both my rain gauges and over 1.5" of rain from Sat and Sun!

We got gentle rain most of the day yesterday and I know the "east" side got some rain because we were on the east side last night for dinner and were rained on getting from car to restaurant going in and out. Just a gentle rain nothing heavy.

Got to go, have a great day.

gamma, the whole east coast has been emptying rain this summer. We've been in Florida whether up here with very humid conditions and random tropical downpours every so often One town out in western Mass. on Saturday received 4.5 inche in matter of a couple of hours which flooded the streets and washed out one main road.I've had some downpours, but nothing like that.More coming Wednesday and more for the weekend.Nice warm and fairly dry today, enjoy it while it lasts.

I'm with ya on this one. The mind and body aren't synchronized very well. The mind tells me one thing, the body says another!

I've gone boogie boarding twice in the last few days. I use different arm muscles for boogie boarding than I do swimming. I really 'felt' it the next day, after I went for the first time. I actually got in the pool the next day to work it out. Did help.

When I swim, I swim between 2,000-2,500 yards (80-100 laps of a 25 yd. pool). There are times it seems much longer than that, and other times not so much. When I tell other people how much I swim they are impressed. I'm just waiting for the weight to fall off, which it's not doing. Matter of fact, it's just getting harder. I have to eat when I exercise so much, otherwise I feel weak, but I think it would be easier to loose if I didn't put so much in my mouth.

Oh well, I guess I'd rather be fit than skinny! LOL

Speaking of the pool, I'm headed there now!

California - at least the southern part, has captured some of your heat. It's been very warm/hot for the last 8 days. I'm ready for our 70s again...this 80ยบ is killing me!

Morning - I'm with you and Karen! My mind tells me I am a young woman, the mirror tells me I look good for a pensioner, but my body tells me... slow down woman!

Lost track of whether you are on long week or short - whichever - hope it is good. I have visitors due today, so won't be around much until Thursday - take care and I hope the dentist visit went OK.

Hi everyone,

Karen and Sandi, yes we all agree, our mind is so much younger than our body!!!
NEw, so your weather is getting better? that is great..

tomorrow starts my "long" week.... so it is back to work I go tomorrow..

but I have been keeping one secret for a while which I will probably let you all in on later this week....

and today I have another secret I cannot tell for a few days... which makes me very happy...

Cannot say more this is the "internet" and anyone can see what I write....

Got to start getting ready for bed soon.

Today I had U-Verse here all day changing over my phones, computer/internet and tv to Uverse..
and so far I love it..

I am now "wireless" in my house... of course hubby and I have our "desk" computer we did not care but our kids and grandkids could never work their ipads and laptops in our house!
so we finally joined the 21st century!!!

You all have a good night and I will try to get on tomorrow.. if I can but I think tomorrow at work is
going to be very ....
very hummmm not sure how to say it but I may not get on here for the next few days
so don't worry... I will be back when I can!!

Oh my secrets are good secrets not bad ones!! so don't worry about anything serious...
well some folks may think one of my secrets would be bad but not for me....

please no guessing because it cannot come out yet.
