Friday, June 1st, WU Reunion Party at Auburn's "Aubie" blog. Be there if you can!!!

Thur. May 31, 2012: Grandson Ty graduated from 5K. Of course we were there and I did manage to get a few pictures loaded here at the bottom of header. He is so cute and the program was great.

Tuesday, May 29, 2012: This morning during Rylee's School's end of year program/awards.. My little Rylee JO won First Grade Student of the Year!!!
(she also won 2 other awards one was the "Gold metal" student award).. We are so proud of that little girl! See #65

Friday, June 1st, the First Day of Hurricane Season, we are having an Old WU Reunion.
Go to Auburn's Blog. Those "lurkers" that are still around but never post are going to come by.
All "old & new" friends are welcome to stop by Auburn's (Aubie) blog for a lot of fun and talking
about the "good old days" here on WU a lot of us have been here since 2005 and the first year of the blogs.
The photo folks were here before the blogs

May 22, 2012.  Most of you know I went to the Destin &  Panama City Beach area last weekend and stayed with Beachfoxx and met up with SugarSand...

and we had a WU reunion on Saturday with AllyB, Code, MandyFSU and MaryEster at Harry T's... it was great. I have some pictures !!!
Will load 24 of them in this header...

-------------------------------------- ---

Here are my weather Maps. This one had to be removed from my above the blog spot; that is what was causing my computer problems last week.

-------------------------------------

I found out, these maps are measuring fire hazard and soil moisture, not necessary drought according to rainfall.

Oh man, I am so bad at not getting here and to your blogs. I am behind reading your blogs and your stories and your interesting subjects..

You know for 7 yrs I have rarely let office work interfer with my blogging time!
At least I could get on a few times during shift... and home, forget it the past 8 or 9 weeks with the house upside down..

Whine, whine, whine... I will be back more often soon.

Sandi and Ylee, White Rabbits to you and Happy June!!!

Jeff, thank you.. can you believe all this rain!

LT & GG, thanks.. very proud.
Seems like all our grands are doing very well.

When I scan the "directory" I see so many interesting topics..
and Aubie is having his Reunion Party in his blog today/tonight...

I stopped by a left a post this afternoon.

Also another line of storms coming thru this afternoon.. more rain... hope this is not a preview of what this summer is going to be like..

all rain all the time!

So, trying to wrap it up here at work...

the "dog & pony" show from this morning went off well...
(our VP's New Boss from NY came in for a visit and to check things out. The one who will decided how fast we are put out of jobs!)
So everything was orderely and as clean as we can get it.

I need to change my header for Aubie's party ... wish I could spend time there.

Tomorrow is Saturday!!!!

Back to work today :(

We are being warned of rain at the weekend, even though the long ranged forecast said it would be fine. I bet it is that lady Beryl! We have a special weekend. Four days, Saturday to Tuesday is the Jubilee weekend and there are so many outdoor events organised, from street parties to concerts to a special Jubilee river parade on the Thames. Rain would spoil everything:(

Big Congrats to Rylee and family for such a great award.
Scholarly or athletic things are very good but character I think trumps everything.

Congratulations to Rylee! You're right, she had good gammas to look up to and influence her to be excellent!

We got our last microwave from Sears, and we're very pleased with it! Hope you get your stove situation lined out soon!

Congrats to Rylee! You're right to be proud of her. :)

I thought I was going to avoid the rain today..nothing at the office all day. After work, I went out east to go by my dive shop..and it really came down while I was there. I see a little water on the roads out west, but not too much.

Tomorrow's going to be fun..my six month check-up with the dermatologist. He always seems to find a spot on my back he wants to cut off. And since I live alone, changing the dressing is virtually impossible. But I guess it beats having something bad grow there..

Sandi, as a teacher I am sure you remember those students who could be Student of the year.. they may not always be the most "straight A " students but they are cheerful and have a positive attitude and always happy to be there and be helpful... She was selected by the teachers... We are so proud of her.. Both of her Grandmas were there, "Gamma & Nanny".. and her Mama and Daddy... Both Grandpas were at work and could not take off... us "Grandmas" take off anytime we need to for our grands!

Rob, I did indeed tell her all Gamma's friends were so proud of her... She know all about WUBA, she grew up on my blog for the past 7 yrs!

I have some workers in the kitchen now trying to figure out the problem with our slide in stove and getting it worked into the countertop.. long story...
we don't want to buy a new range when the one we have is not even 2 yrs old yet... but the one we have is not making the "countertop" transition like it should have... hard to explain but we have some good people working on the problem..

Thanks everyone...

and I see North/Central Fla got some good rain...
still not enought for the West Central area.. maybe later.

phone ringing..

Bug, I know, BF and some others said same thing!
Code has been here a few times since I posted those pictures and she has not yet told me to remove her pictures! LOL Plus she exposed herself a few years ago on Dr Master's blog with that Portlight Charity event.

You know when that teacher was talking about Rylee I did recognize all she said, Rylee is a sweet little girl..
very nurturing...
I have no idea where she got all that! Sure not from any one of us.

Her other "Nanny" was there and we just hugged each other and told each other we did a good job in helping raise Rylee! LOL

I got her a prize... Ellen is here.

Hi Sandi, Yes I have Nolan today, first time I have had him this long in a while. It just was not safe for him to be here during the worse of the construction.

I mean I cut a gash in my shin last week running into something!

But tomorrow I get to do a little resting.. been running errands this morning.

Good morning everyone, The Moisture Map does not reflect it yet but I have a feeling a lot of those Red counties will turn dark green or blue at this afternoon's update. Some areas got 10" of rain from Beryl and they needed it.

Also, Ellen called me this morning and told me to get to Rylee's school if I could because there was the yearly award ceremony going on this morning. She forgot to tell me about it last weekend.

Anyway, I got dressed and went (her school is not even 1/2 mile from my house) and Rylee won a lot of good awards.....and even one of 3 "Gold Metal Students"

but she also won the biggest prize of all.. The First Grade Student of the Year!

We were so proud of our Ms Rylee... He teacher said all the teachers that voted on this award were in a agreement that Rylee is the best All Round Student with a postive attitude and a smile on her face every day... she said Rylee never talks negative about any one and always nurturing and helpful.. and Rylee is a Delight for any teacher to have in the class room!!

I got a picture on my Cell phone. it is blury but only one I got.

I put it on FB because it is easy from phone.. will try to bring it here.

Jeff, I hear you that was a nasty storm yesterday afternoon.. at least today was just a rain storm for a few minutes.

Ogal, I saw on FB that you and Steve are so sore from pulling in all that fish yesterday.. hope today you are taking it easy.. at our age our bones and muscles get sore really easy.. so glad you are having a wonderful time.

Karen, I put two cell phone pictures on FB..but I have already changed it up since I put that picture up..

But it is coming along.. all our neighbors that come in to see how it is going are telling us how much they love it...
but then again..would they tell us they don't love it?? LOL

I know I love it and Hubby loves it and we are happy with how it is coming along..

so hopefully some premiliary pictures soon.

HI BriarCraft, good to see you stop by.... Yes, we had a time with that microwave.... but today we ordered one from SEARS which will meet our expections... we should have gone there like we normally do.. we got our new dishwasher from there and they have great customer service..
as far as our SE USA beaches... down here we have a lot of resorts, condos and hotels on our beaches...

and most of them are private...except for state parks or public access.....so we were in a condo and that condo had access to the beach front (only to the ocean) in front..so they keep those lounge chairs set up and the umbrellas' get set up as those loughe chairs are taken... yes it cost money to get one of those...unless you are an owner and Beachfoxx is ...

and even here in Ft Lauderdale.. our beach front HOtels and Resorts have there own beautiful layouts of where the lounges should be on the beach...

I think the west coast is very different from east coast...Come on down here to SE Florida and I will show you around!!!

Got to go for now.. not sure if I will return..

but it looks like TS Beryl brought some much needed rain to NE and Central Florida.. I know
"reel" Laura got 4" by this afternoon .. which is great.

will check in tomorrow!!

Hi everyone... I'm back after a very busy day...

we went to Sears and order a new stainless microwave oven that should be delivered next week.

the electrician put in the under the counter lighting..and they look so good....
I could not believe that tiny strip of lights made so much light and it should last for 15 yrs!

and did about 4 loads in dishwasher and did a little decorating...

I put a sneak glips on FB via my cell phone.. so easy..
so hard to do here but maybe I will try..

still a long way from total reveil...

Nasty afternoon of weather..I went out east to a friend's place for a BBQ. Ended up sitting around inside. Luckily, they had plenty of beer. We eventually got the ribs and wings on the grill.

On my way home, I got an e-mail from a co-worker. There are media reports that my company may lay off 10-20% of the workforce by the end of the week. The development team is supposed to be safe - that would include me. But you never know. So...this could be an interesting week. That's life in technology these days! Wish me luck.. Ironically, I get my year end review on Wednesday. I wonder if it matters. :)

It looks like you had a splendid time on the panhandle -- Destin and vicinity. It's nice for me to be able to attach faces I haven't seen before to some WUnames. I had a time trying to figure out what I was looking at in the first photo, but then in the 4th photo with the hard-working young man, I figured out that they were pairs of lounge chairs all in the same color. Evidently, these belong to the hotel where you stayed? I've never seen anything like that. So fun to see the difference in local customs in different parts of the country.

You probably take that for granted as the normal set-up for a beach-front hotel, but it looks strange to me. On the west coast, the beaches are all public property. Beach-front hotels have to set up their furniture on their own property, not on the beach. Instead, popular beaches get cluttered with a hodge-podge of towels, blankets, and folding chairs that people bring with them.

You and hubby are having quite a time finding a microwave you both like. My husband defines compromise as the result of bargaining where no one ends up happy, which seems pessimistic to me. I hope your joint shopping has a happy-for-both ending.

Hi Foxx, was thinking earlier how much fun we were having this time last week. We were at Harry T's with all our WU friends having lunch and drinks.
What fun...

And I got to meet your hubby and your two cutie little pups!!! Tell Shadow and Naddi I said HI!!!

I will post pictures when I get it pulled together... I like to have a lot of the decorative treatments done because it will not look right until it is finished. Will let you know.

We are swamped with people down here this weekend, plus that big "Urban Music Festival" that is held in Miami South Beach this weekend every year.
There is always big time trouble when this group is in town and people end up dead. Police from all other cities have to come in help out the Miami-Dade County police force this weekend.
It is a shame that what should be a fun filled music weekend for many has to always end with violence because of a few "urban getto thugs" that come into town to start trouble.
I think this is the 3rd or 4th one and the South Beach/Miami officials are saying if there is trouble this year they will never allow it to come back.
sure the revenue is good to have but not the violence.

Well, I guess I said my peace on that one!

I went out during lunch to run some errands and pick up some items I need in my new kitchen...
and the Sawgrass Mills Mall is packed. YOu have to park way way way back in the parking lots and the stores are packed...
All pretty much foreign tourist..
and people are spending money like there is plenty to spend...
there is no signs of economy problems this weekend in SE Fla! :o)

Ylee, Yeah!!!! It is not only Saturday is now 3:07 pm on Saturday!!! 4 more hours to go!!!
and I have already done all of the real time consuming reports and numbers for the week
and I already keyed payroll for my team and my peer's team since he has been out for 2 weeks.

Poor Pierre, we have 4 Leaders on this shift and Saturday we all must key our payrolls..
Last Saturday Pierre was the only leader here and had to do it for all of us! LOL
This week at least I am back to Help him out.. The other two leaders are still out!

Oh, our microwave story...was 5 days of lies and terrible customer service..
Do NOT do business with hhgregg Applicances.
It is fairly new I think I started seeing commercials a year or so ago... They seemed to go into the buildings where Circuit City was located until they went out of business.

Anyway, No customers seem to be in the hhgregg stores..4 times in 6 days I was in there and about 15 salesmen standing around but no customers to wait on... I should have picked up on that but we didn't. and they lied to us to get the order.Hubby and I found a microwave we wanted... we wanted it that day, not a "order" the salesman Promised us it would be in by noon the next day (Tuesday).. promise.... to get the sale.
the next day the service person told us it would not be in until Friday....

I picked it up (we had told them we didnot want a floor model, we wanted brand new and we paid for brand new) ...
when we got it home it was a "return" the label said it was "returned because it did not heat" !!!

Hubby was livid. I returned it the next day for a full refund and pretty much told them they would never get our business again.

and we have been so busy we have not yet selected a new one. We have a perfectly good old white one I bought at Walmart for $65 about 14 yrs ago! LOL
but we want a new stainless steel one for our new kitchen so it will match rest of applicances...
and hubby is a lot pickier than I am about this microwave.. I have already seen several I could be ok with! LOL

anyway, my recommendation is to NOT shop at "hhgregg applicances" ... or if you do be very careful!

So I need to get back out on the production floor, everyone is back from lunch now and got to make sure
everything is running smoothly.

Thanks for stopping by!!!

WooHoo! Saturday is finally here, gamma! Less than seven hours to go for you!

I think you can see the home stretch on the kitchen reno; another week, perhaps? I'm sure you'll want everything to look perfect for the new blog! :)

I one bought a really nice microwave from a company for $250. After three months, the thing started to shoot out sparks, so when I contacted their customer service, instead of giving me the same style microwave to replace it, they gave me a $200 voucher! Needless to say, I never bought from that company again, if I could help it!

Hope the rest of your day goes by fast!

Gamma!

Storm #2! Wowsers, can you believe it???? As I was sipping the Dunkin' Donut coffee - I opened up the laptop to check the weather & discovered Beryl.
We could use the rain, but not a storm! Looks like a busy season ahead....

Wishing I was on the beach this morning - well, kinda. It is probably a ZOO, tourists were arriving in droves yesterday. gonna be a crowded beach this weekend.

Might be a good day to stay on the bay. Hubby is going to rake magnolia leaves! ROFL - you saw those big trees.... I keep telling him to just let the leaves drop & stay, but he doesn't like the messy leaf tossed look! haha

Naddi & Shadow say thank you! They had the last of the Redfish last night. Spoiled little poodles!

Enjoy your weekend!

So finally TS Beryl has formed and taking aim toward the NE Fla & SE Georgia coast and should affect the entire area.

This is great because Central/North Florida and Georgia are in a really bad drought.
They need the rain so much...
And hopefully Beryl will stay at TS strength and just bring the much needed rain.

WOW not even June 1st and we are already on our 2nd name storm of the season....

thought this was suppose to be a "normal" year!

Going to be a busy next 4 days for me, I must get to making headway in emptying all my boxes back into the kitchen cabinets.. and start putting decorative items back up on the walls and tables and such.

We still need to have the back splash sealed, the under cabinet lights installed then the under cabinet rails.. and the rest of the electricity hooked up so the kitchen will have power...

and I need to select the new windown treatments, throw pillows for dining and living areas...
and new chandelier for that high kitchen ceiling...
that is going to be my Mother's Day present from Hubby.

And I promise I will be putting up pictures when it is done. It exceeds my expectations and we are so happy with how it is all looking and functioning as we go. Still a few problems that must find resolutions but working on it...

We also have not yet bought our microwave... long story about the one we thought we bought and had to return because it was used and damaged! Will never use that company again....

So you all enjoy your weekend and I will return if I can.. going to be very busy here at work today..

Hi everyone,

BF, it is always nice to see you stop by!!!

Sandi, you know it! I needed that Dunkin Donut stop this morning.. Actually today I treated my team to bagels & cream cheese which they like better than donuts but are twice as expensive! But my team is worth it. And I got myself a blueberry muffin and my coffee.
Yesterday was a monster day at work; hopefully today will be much easier!
But I will be enjoying a little Red tonight and sleeping late tomorrow (I hope!)

GardenG, I know isn't this great.. Finally the last day of our "Long" week!!! Now 4 days in a row off.
Around here we are 24/7 365.. we never shut down so someone is working every holiday.. Lucky several holidays fall on Monday so at least my shift gets out of those! Enjoy your long weekend.

Hi again, Gamms.
Glad your edge of FL is not under bad drought.

anyway, in Dr Master's Blog, there was a picture of Code & Sugarsand, with their faces
and their real names and phone numbers
as contacts for the event That is about as public as you can get! LOL

I must've missed that somehow.
:)

Thanks. Been my pleasure to stop by. Gotta get some work done. Have a good one!

BF, LOL Thanks... I will be 59 in August. YIKES! When did I get so old???

Actually a few years ago when Destin had the Dog Walk for Portlight
and a bunch went (I did not it was the MOD event that same Saturday)
anyway, in Dr Master's Blog, there was a picture of Code & Sugarsand, with their faces
and their real names and phone numbers
as contacts for the event That is about as public as you can get! LOL

I told Code last weekend, I was putting her picture in my blog from our Reunion!
Since she had already been exposed on Dr Master's blog once!
Also I don't have a lot of traffic on my blog
so she should be pretty safe here...

Yes, it is my hope that 94L will be rain to all the drough areas. you can see SE Florida is not in any type of drought.. we are soggy!

Good to see you stop by.

Good morning, Gamms.
Thanks for posting the photos. Love the one, "Relaxing in the GOM." You sure you're not 17? Also - first time in WU history, I think, that code1 has appeared in a public photo without a brown paper bag over her head.

Congrats to your nephew and Happy B'Day to Papa Joe! Hope you find some time to relax when your weekend comes around.

We'll see what this 94L does and doesn't. I am hopeful it will take its rain to GA and N FL where exceptional drought is.

Good morning and yes, I am back at my office desk this morning.

LOL, I made a one sentence sarcastic comment about a speech and look at the reaction.
LOL Liberals are so sensitive.

Most of you that frequent here often know I try to keep politics off my blog; there are many other blogs that are holding those discussions.

And I do not always have weather comments here..
I mean I talk about the weather, heck I start my morning Facebook greetings with our current conditions!! LOL
But I love the diversity of our blogs.

Ylee, you got that right!
Yes I am feeling better today and you know I have no idea what your political beliefs are and I don't care! LOL

Most of my friends here and on FB are much more to the left than I am.. to each their own.
Thanks for taking up for me!

Code, you know better than that! I don't like fussing and fighting on my blog. This is one of the few blogs here where everyone is nice to each other!

And I have never had a totally weather related blog! You know that too.
My friends stop by here and we exchange pleasant and fun chat about anything we want to talk about!

So you are turning down a chance to move back to your roots here in SE Fla?
It is very expensive here to move here, maybe they will give you that moving package anyway.
But is sounds like you are pretty happy with your $$$ and benefits there in Tallahassee.
Glad to see you stop by.

Ylee, great post!
Me too, I just have "friends"!!!
I have met a great group of friends here on WU over the past 7 yrs.. Glad you are one of them!

Scott, I think I get it now.
So NCO is who you need to have by your side!

Us civilians have a hard time with all the ins and outs of the Military and my Son was in the Navy back in mid 90's.

And you can "brag" anytime you want; you served our Country for over 20 years and even did your time in Iraq.. You earned your right for respect!

The Weather:
So finally it looks like the rain is moving on.. HOpe it moves where it is wanted and needed!

I94 is looking like it could become a Depression or TS soon. And according to the models
it should loop back into North East Florida or Georgia which both could use the rain.

We got almost another inch of rain at my house yesterday and a lot more in other places in Dade and Broward County.
They will probably go Blue on the moisture map in my header after the 4pm update.

At least the system, 94L has moved north of SE Fla... now we are back to our daily 20% chance of afternoon thunderstorms that is norm for summer.

work is crazy and not sure if I will get back here this afternoon.

You all have a great Friday!!!

I am sure after 4 yrs of Military school has learned the ropes.. at least for now..but the "real" deal is probably going to be a little different!

Yes Patti, I guarantee it will be different. He was in school for 4 years learning about the military. Now he will live it.

Sorry for confusing you. As I said, I was in so long I forget others do not understand the ranks.

An NCO (non-commissioned officer, or "non-com" in the olden days) is not an officer, but in the Sergeant (or Petty Officer in the Navy) ranks. Enlisted, in other words. They are often called the "backbone" of the military.

Most new officers know they are just learning and will let a senior NCO take them "under their wing". Just being an officer does not equal experience. But occasionally a new officer will come in the service thinking they know it all, like a teenager. A senior NCO can slam them just as quick, despite the officer outranking them. Of course it must be done tactfully and within regulations. LOL.

Any senior officer will tell you good NCO's will make all the difference in an organization.

Not bragging or anything (sure, right) but I have saved more than a few officers butts over the years.

Anyway, enough of the military lesson. I hope you get over your sinus problems and my sister will say the same thing about alot of rain making them worse.

Easy, Code, I was just going along with gamma! :) I don't have "left" friends or "right" friends here, just "friends", OK? I consider you to be one of them, my fellow citizen of The Big Blue Nation!

My comment about the President was not a reflection of my political bent(if you're curious, see sp's blog), merely that politicians at election time go to great lengths to get themselves seen and heard, without actually saying anything truly inspirational.

Give props to Obama for at least showing up; GWB would have probably sent Cheney to do it for him! :)

If we kept WU strictly weather-related, then all the blogs would look like marsHen's(which I like, and I lurk there quite often), but then why would a bunch of bloggers get together and have a good time in Destin?

Because the WU blogs are as much about the people who blog as it is about the weather!

You may have came for the weather, code, but you stayed for the people, good people, regardless of who they voted for! That's why you were in Destin last weekend, and that's why you're probably going to stop by Aubie's blog on June 1st!

Me, I get most of my weather info and forecasts from the NWS. WU has superior radar graphics and the ability to type in a location anywhere in the world and get weather info, but when it comes to finding tomorrow's forecast, it's the NWS.

But that's not why I spend about 4-6 hours(or more) here on WU every day that I'm at work.

It's because of my friends here on the blogs. If someone is having a lousy day and I can get a lol or a :) from them, then that's a good thing. I've learned a lot from people from all over the planet, from the mechanics of a 'cane, to the challenges of hip replacement surgery.

I'm sorry, gamma, for taking over the blog, but I had to say what I had to say.

code, if I didn't like ya, I wouldn't take the time to write this long winded reply! :)

Happy B'Day poppa Joe and Bug's Dad! Missing my Dad this holiday W/end and his B'Day as well. Not sure following you ylee? Same prose as last admin. What makes this one diff in your opinion? Hmmmm same ol' WU it seems around election time! Should be elsewhere!!! Reason many of us left. We came for weather, despite our political differences. Hell, Patti & I great friends real time with opposing views. Let's keep WU weather related this year!! Politics is all over net. Go spew views elsewhere, & keep this site for what it is meant for please!
