Happy October, Happy Fall!

Oct 15, 2011:
Decided to go ahead and open a new blog thread for the last half of October.

And yes, the Baseball Playoffs are wrapping up and by Sunday we should know who will be in the World Series.

Of course, everyone knows I am a St Louis Cardinal fan!

Oct 20, 2011
Series all tied up one to one, Cardinals and Rangers each pulled out a victory during the St Louis games. Now on to play in the Ranger's home turf for 3 more games. Both of these teams are really good; will be a very good series.

These weatherstickers say Sunrise, FL because technically my zip code is for Sunrise and not Lauderhill but I live just within the city limits of Lauderhill, we are offically NorthWest Lauderhill. There is confusion sometimes.

-----------------------------------

I found out, these maps are measuring fire hazard and soil moisture, not necessary drought according to rainfall.

This is the real "drought map" for our area.

Ylee, I did I stayed until about 7:20pm and got all the end of month reports done so they are not on my
"things to do list" next week!!!

and I am home now... and we are flooded.

I noticed a water fall of water coming from back yard (which is higher) down side of house into street...

we got another 2" of rain this afternoon apparently all at once on top of 4" from last night.

6 inches of rain in less than 24 hours...
not good at all.

water is standing everywhere... I have several inches deep around my pool area... of course pool is over flowing...

I do believe this is one of the wettest October's in history for my area!

I do not want to hear the words "we need rain" from anyone in my county for at least a month!

Hi Jeff, man how could you not notice that rain, it was so loud at our house last night. Sound like buckets of water being poured on us!

Um...they serve beer at the pub..

The rain just stopped here, but probably just for a bit. According to the reports I'm reading, there is street flooding at some major intersections. I'm glad I don't have any serious plans tonight!

I may end up staying past 7pm tonight..
it is the last day of the month for us...
and I would like to get my month end reports done today so I won't have them on my "things to do list" next week when we will probably be very busy.

but I cannot get todays volume until after the machines shut down at 7pm and the computer files update....

I have everything month to date thur yesterday...

we will see how I feel at 7pm! But I do think I would like to stay.

Oh yes, thanks the Game was over, now maybe I can catch up on some lost sleep!

I guessed right, the Moisture/Fire map updated this afternoon and most of South Florida is back in the blue again.

Our canals in our neighborhood are over the rims and creeping up in homeowners backyards...they are full!

Wonder of Lake Okeechobee got any additional rain?

thanks for stopping by!

Hi Gamma! Just checking in, since I haven't been on much recently. I was out at a pub last night and caught the end of the game, and was happy your Cards won!

I didn't even notice the rain last night. But it's been raining on and off all day here. I was out by the beach for lunch and it poured briefly, but not too long.

Right now, we're WET.

Hi Bug,
Happy Saturday to you!

We have some TV's around here also with 2 in break room but we do not allow the employees to have a say in what is on them.

They are fixed on to CNN News 90% of the time.

Sometimes if there is like the "World Soccer Games" were on they would put them on TV since we have a big South/Central American and Caribbean population here who are all Soccer fans from "their country"..

I think they will put the Super Bowl Football game on also but that is always on Sunday and I do not work Sunday.

Anyway, where I work we would NEVER allow soap operas or other talk shows on TV... we are very "political correct" around this place and some one would complain.

I have not been involved in the soaps in 25 years or more.. not even kept up with them... back when I would visit my Mom and be staying with her I had to watch them because she did but I had no idea what was going on...

Are you all going to get any of this rain? We are drowning down here!

Thanks for stopping by.

Plap/Tony, thank you and you have a good day too.

Ylee, that is funny.. Thur night game was probably one of the best WS games in history well the extra innings were.. and I slept thru them.

Oh yes, many people kept telling me Rangers in 6..they were so sure about it..
then last night 2 of the commentators both predicted the Rangers would win the WS tonight.

No one thought the Cardinals could do it but us faithful fans! LOL

Glad you called your Sdad and Mom! LOL

Hi, Gams.

Happy "Friday"!

There's a TV in our breakroom for use at lunch (with cable, no less!). When I was in there to heat up my lunch yesterday, someone had the news on. I saw that the Cards had won the Series and immediately thought, "Oh, Gams must be SO happy!"

It was highly unusual to see a news channel on. Right now, the Jackson trial is being watched obsessively. Normally, it's one of the soaps. Or what's left of the soaps. I never eat in the breakroom or watch TV in there. The majority rules,, which means they never watch anything that interests me. Nor are they happy if I turn on the captions so I can follow what's going on, on the rare occasions that they're not watching the soaps.

Nothing like work dynamics, huh?

I'm much happier having lunch at my desk and checking the blogs, the weather and playing games.

Gamma, I had to call my party pooper stepdad who said the Cards were going to lose game 6 before the first pitch was even thrown, at midnight local time, even if I had to wake him and mom up! He was up, though! :) Last night's game was almost anticlimatic, but a little less drama is a good thing, sometines! :)

Have a quick day at work, and celebrate properly tonight with a glass of red!

I'll bet when the moisture/fire map updates this afternoon all of South Florida will be blue again... and it just turned dark green from blue earlier this week from our rains 2 weeks ago!

It has been an exceptionally wet October with 3 of the 4 weekends getting rained out due to wet tropical systems that came our way...

Last weekend was the only "dry" weekend we had this month.

Ogal, sounds like a good day to just relax and read. I have never tried the teeth whitening process I think Betsey has. May try it sometime myself.
Yes, I do believe you and I do a good job at keeping our dentist busy! LOL

LT, that is funny, Congratuatlions on winning your $50 bet!!! Don't ever count the Cards out in a ball game!

Number, thank you. alot of people who don't even watch baseball rooted for the Cardinals on my behalf... Yes I am tired but I made it in to work on time... so glad it is Saturday and all the "front office Mon - Fri folks are not here"

Jus, thank you.. I loved what you posted on NEw's blog about not being able to root for Cardinals in your a Chicago area blog!! that was funny!!!

So, it is "long week" for me and I am beat but will make it thru until 7pm tonight...

Thanks to everyone who stopped by and it was a good World Series by two Great Teams.

I have no makeup, hair up in a St Louis Baseball cap and sweats on this morning at work.. but at least I made it!!! LOL

Congrats Gams to you and the Cards. Raining here this morning. I think you guys are getting much more than us. My neighbors left early this morning for the Florida -Georgia game. Hope they don't have to sit in the rain. It will be a slow down day here. I am tired and so is Steve. May just finish the book I started on the plane. Called "The Room". it is a really a strange book but kept me occupied while flying.

Oh Steve just had trays made and is going through the tooth whitening process. Got to keep our dentist in business....LOL

Congrats to you and your Cardinals, Gamma. I'll never forget that game 6-- reminds me of the Mets 6th game win against the Red Sox in 1986. I had faith in the Cardinals I won 50 bucks from a friend of mine who is a big Ranger fan. "How about that!" LT.

It is the Cardinals 11th WS victory second only to the NY Yankees..

It was another nail biter...

and I was able to watch 2 of the 7 games in full and they won so my curse is broken!!!

Game 7 of the World Series...

St Louis Cardinals 2, Texas Rangers 2

this is going to be a good game.

All the commentators and the experts say Texas will win tonight.
St Louis is very much the underdog..

we will see...

Ogal, that would be great, I would not know how to do one either.. .I would follow and try to copy someone like Sandi, Linda/Shore, or Beth they have all doen it before.. I would not know where to begin! LOL

You know, for the past few months since we have been exceptionally soggy, my east side garden,
the pretty side of the house, has mulch down and it has been sprouting some very weird fungus
like I have never seen before...
I hope I don't get banned for saying it but it sort of shaped like a "weenie" to put it gently???
you know what I mean! LOL it is very moist and slimy but barely attached to the ground..
I don't think it is from the mushroom family but could be...
I lean toward it being a fungus.. but in all my years of gardening
I have never seen anything like it.

LT, I am going to try; hope tonight the Cards are winning enough we don't need extra innings.
When I have to get up at 5:30am I just cannot stay up late...

Actually it may be good luck for my team if I don't stay up and watch the entire game! LOL

Just kidding I am looking forward to a victory tonight.

First time since 2002 the WS went to Game 7!

Hi Gams, just a yucky rainy day here. I am trying to get caught up on all the stuff that was not done for ten days. Vacuuming up the cat hair and dusting.

So happy for your Cards. Tonight will be really something. I am not a baseball fan but since you are so for the Cards I may have to watch and root for them.

My yard is full of some kind of fungus. Sure makes me want to move. That is the only way I can ever get rid of it. My yard service is like.....we are not sure what it is. We just planted 44 trays of plugs and now they may die. I have turned it over to Steve to yell at the yard service.

Hope you have a great weekend and thanks for pulling me up off the bottom. I am going to try to blog our trip. Just don't know when I will get started. I love these blogs as well as FB. FB is just so much easier to post pictures.

I just heard what happened - my gosh! Joe Buck had a great final call, too! And Lance Berkman's rbi single - my gosh, that guy is just the best.

Sportscasters said the Rangers made a "rookie" mistake, when they were ahead in 9th inning...
they went ahead and brought the celebration champagne into the club house..
.

That's just so "Dallas". ;)

Hi Mobal,
Thanks! This series has been an exciting one to watch.
both teams are really good.

The "talking heads" predicted a 7 game series and it appears this is what we are getting.

I so hope I can stay awake tonight and watch the Cardinals win their 11th WS Trophy tonight.

PD, I have no idea.

BF, good to see you!!!! I fell asleep!

LT can you believe it.. what a game.

Off to work now but so excited.

I asked hubby this morning if we pulled it out. I fell asleep when we were 1 run down.
He said he doubts it we were 3 runs down in 9th inning. So I was sort of sad I thought we had lost the game.

We turn on TV, ESPN...while getting ready for work.. they do highlights of the game but did not say who won...
We are watching those extra innings and cannot believe what we saw!!!!

Extra Innings.. St Louis pulls it out in extra innings... a GREAT Come From Behind again victory!!!

Wish I had been able to stay awake and watch it.

Cannot wait until tonight...

Sportscasters said the Rangers made a "rookie" mistake, when they were ahead in 9th inning...
they went ahead and brought the celebration champagne into the club house...

big "NO-NO" you don't bring in the celebration champagne until
the last out is made and you for sure won...

see you later at work... I am going to be late if I don't get out the door in the next few minutes.

51 years of heartbreak comes to an end tonight?? Can my wildest dreams (yes dreams, cause I NEVER thought this would happen in the SAME YEAR) come true and will I witness the Rangers and the Mavericks climb the mountain and win titles in the same year???

Wow. Win or lose, I have NEVER been more proud to be a fan of Dallas professional sports teams NOT named the Cowboys:-)

Good morning Gamms.
The hospital sure dosen't like my visitors as the leave a mess on all the window sills and ledges. There's a crew whose job it is to use a power sprayer and clean it up.
One of the nurses said they should bate them with poisoned feed. I suggested they do as they have done with the government building here in Portage.
They set a nest for a pair of perigrin Falcons. Within weeks the pidgeons were gone. The falcons leave nothing behind except feathers.
When they have cleaned up the building their nest is on they move on to the next.
Enjoy your day.

Well, Game 6 is on for tonight and I really hope there is a Game 7 tomorrow night.
I truly believe the Cards will win tonight and tie up the series for the big game tomorrow.

We will see.

Looks like Rina is not going to do much more than bring some win in the area; we are now out of the "cone" and the models show the system diving back down into Western Caribbean aimlessly..
So what is "NEXT"???/ Hope nothing... ready for this year to be over so I can comfortably get ready for the Holidays and finish my garden!

Hope you all are enjoying your day.
