Sat Nov 8, 2008. Paloma is now a strong Cat 4 and heading toward the little Caymen islands. Our friends on Grand Caymen got lashed last night and the storm went just to the east of them but hitting Cayman Brac head on it appears.
I will give updates as much as I can today.

Fri, Nov 7th: Oh my goodness, H Paloma is getting so much stronger than we expected. Not good for our Cayman friends. They are now preparing for Cat 2 storm and could be worse. I cannot believe what I am seeing on the models and on radar... and the models are going loopy now.
Prayers for all in Paloma's path.

8:00 pm Nov 6, it's now Hurricane Paloma!

We have a November storm! Tropical Storm Paloma. YIKES! Well we have had November storms before. Hope it doesn't hurt the islands too bad and it stays away from us.

Thursday, November 6, 2008:

I am going to try again. I've got about 5 troll handles banned; these handles have just come out in the past few days; I never saw them before.

I would like to have a positive blog; like I use to have...I do not want this one to go political, please. Now it is the time for us to come together for the good of the country.

Please?

Good morning everyone!

Karen, isn't my schedule crazy LOL.. goodluck on al you got going on at school this week.

Sandi, Thanks for the coffee taste good.. actually think after I type this post I will have another cup or two while reading the paper.

Rays, Good morning to you.. it's is Football Sunday again.

Bug, Thanks... I got a chimimen many years ago.. my first "outdoor" fire pit.. I would get that thing so roaring hot.. I eventually cracked it LOL...but they are nice when you keep the fires under control. I really enjoy those iron fire pits.. you can get a good small one for a reasonable price at Walmart or Target. of couse you can get really expensive ones also.. but I prefer the less expensive so whent hey rust out and have to be discarted after a few years you don't feel so bad! LOL

My son has the best fire pit; he makes it himself in the back yard with concret blocks..like a campfire...and all winter they have fires and roast marshmellows, smores, etc.. the boys love it.and in the summer he puts it away.. stacks the blocks in the garage.... but son also has a big back yard! LOL

Well the guys have done their run and are off to their Dolphine Game Tailgating party.. Hope they win today.

I didn't go to church nor walk this morning .. I have been so lazy in the last few months.. well actually have something wrong with my feet still.. I promise going to the doctor to get it xrayed after first of the year. I am beginning to think it is not broken bones but rather something to do with nerves...now I've tried resting them for a couple of months now; walking only a few miles instead of many and not doing it often..oh well.

Everyone, thank you for stopping by and enjoy your day.. it is beautiful down here right now.

I swear I make so many typos.. now I am a bad speller but not as bad as my typing let's on LOL I went back and had about 10 typos here I had to fix and those were just the obvious ones and I really didn't even proof read so I know there are many more.. oh well.. LOL

Morning, Gams! I missed all the hoohaa that went on here on election night. Was too out of it to care, to tell the truth.

Sorry to hear that you were getting slammed but you've got a right to voice your own opinion, esp on your own blog. Things can get heated, when it comes to politics.

Chilly here; about 50F. Supposed to warm up nicely, though. Beautiful day, with blue skies.

Larry gave me one of his chimeneas a couple of weeks before he passed. I had it up beside the house and out of the way all summer. Two weekends ago, I put it out front and did a starter fire, to christen it. I need to get some logs. We usually have enough downed limbs and twigs and stuff to burn but I used all I could find two weeks ago.

I am home!!!!!! my weekend has begun..

I think I am going to bed and get some rest!

Hubby is going to the Dolphin Game, it is the "Guys Dolphin Game Sunday" that he and about 8 friends go to every year in November. They tail gate and have a "guy" good time LOL.. ladies not invited .. but that is ok.
As long we we win!!!

I hope to get out side a bit tomorrow if possible.

Glad Paloma is finally starting to fall apart.. still a strong cat 3 but losing strength rapidly.

Prayers still going up for our friends in Little Cayman and of course Crab and Bride on Brac..

Enjoy your Saturday evening everyone!

wait I found this???

this must have been the one I remembered.. maybe we "thought" it was going to affect S Fla but it didn't.. I thought it was close to Thanksgiving storm becase I was in my prev house (we moved Dec 86) and had out of town Company for Thanksgiving and I was trying to reassure them it would be OK. LOL

well, I guess not.. I checked 80-84 and no landfalling storms in Nov for Florida.

so I guess it was not a Nov storm...for some reason I want to think it was in my old house (79-86) and it was late in season because it caught us unaware oh well..

looks like 2008 was a big record setting also; not as much as 2005 but still enough.

I sure hope no more storms this year....

Hi SSI!

Yes I am so glad that gal is being sheared to death.. we don't want anymore of here around here.

I am about "stormed out" this year.. ready for a break!

I thought we got a back door tropical storm in the early 80's... of course that is not a hurricane.

thanks for the link I will go look to see if we got a TS ...

enjoy your evening and thanks for stopping by!

Hi Surf and Shore,

I know.. I am nuts here.. busy at work but still every chance I get I pop in to get an update.

Surf, I love your tradition; sounds like a best practice to me!

Shore,I know so many were caught by surprise yesterday at how fast this storm ramped up.

You know, by now, after 2005 we should have learned NEVER to be surprised when these storms do not do wht they are suppose to do!

Now can someone once again Promise me this is going to drop down to a TD again once over Cuba and headed toward South Florida as the models indicate! ... I'm still waiting to see that wind shear start hapening! LOL

be back later.. thanks again everyone for keeping me company... worrying together is much better than worrying alone.

Hi, Gamma ~

I simply couldn't believe how this storm blew up - even after I knew it was around and started paying attention, it seemed as though Cat 2 was about the upper limit projected. It's just another reminder that you can't turn your back on these things, or make assumptions about what they're going to do.

Thanks for including the updates in your blog.
Have a good day at work - I'm getting ready to get myself organized a bit, too.

So good to come to this room.... I thought I was I was a royal nut case -- so worried about the Cayman folks yesterday -- Like Aqua said, before WU & Zoomiami's map -- I felt bad or worried for the people under attack from a 'cane...... but now, now I am emotionally tied. The hard part is the frustration of not being able to put a hand up and "YELL STOP!!!, my friends live there" and snuff the 'cane out b/4 it causes harm. Reading these posts, I see I am not crazy, not alone with my angst -- not a nut case. Last night, I was so emotionally "torked" I couldn't post, and I just couldn't watch.

WHAT I DO TO EASE MY FEELINGS OF HELPLESSNESS.
A new "tradition" started in our home. I have a special Hurricane Lantern.....I decorated it with paint and shells, special rocks -- wishbone.....earthy treasures.... when there is a 'cane bearing down on those I love or care about, places I love and care about -- I light the candle with a prayer in mind. Put the place and folks in my mind under a protective dome......and I ask "creator" to protect all from the wrath of the 'cane. WE are all connected, all related - as we learn from many cultures... Native American to Buddhist...... so I hope that by tapping into that collectiveness -prayers will be heard, and our friends kept safe.

ogal and Aquak, I know. We care so much for our friends in harms way. Before these blogs existed, I cared about people being hit by these storms but I didn't personally know any of them... now I know many of them and it makes it more real.
I see Collins got an update from Crab this morning; they are OK but it is bad. I know they all know what to do to take care of themself but still all the damage these storms cause if terrible.

Thank you for stopping by.

I will have one window open on my computer to WU all day and 3 open for work related stuff.

good morning everyone, off to work but had to check in once time.

Cat 4 not good and SE Florida in the cone but suppose to be blown apart by then maybe just a TD or low pressure.. we will see.

Grand Caymen got brushed to the east now the sister islands where Crab and his bride live are getting the worse. I know they are in their cave. So worried. This storm has now gotten larger than ever predicted.

Thank you all for posting.

{{{Lisa}}} So sorry about your lose.

Sandi, Happy Rememberence Day.. I think it is like our Memorial Day and Veterans Day which is next Tuesday. We need to always remember those who fought and died for our country.

bayleigh, good to see you again; yes your area is cold!

oakland, I sure hope this is the last day we have to watch this storm and it gets sheared.

Everyone thanks for stopping by.
Going to be a busy day at work once I get there; all my "end of week reports" plus a high volume and my team's getting new new printers (big machines!) that we are migrating at a chanllenging time of the year. LOL but we want them anyway! LOL

Got to get out of here for now. I will check in during my morning break.

Enjoy your Saturday! And Prayers go up for our friends in the Cayman Islands.

Good Saturday Morning to you Gams:)

I hope this storm gets blown to pieces soon, it looks as though it is a cat 4 as it hits Cayman Islands.... Not good!!

It is Remembrance Day tomorrow in the UK. This year it is the 90th anniversary of the end of the First World War.

We will remember them

Hi Gamma! It's pretty darn cold up here...and we're going camping tomorrow! The lows are to be in the 30's tomorrow night, but you know with the good campfire food and drinks a flowin', we should stay pretty warm. I had to dig the long johns out and every blanket and sleeping bag we have! UGH! What are we thinking? :) Hope you have a wonderful weekend, and that Paloma stays away from you guys--no crazy turns, etc.

I just saw the latest advisory.

115mph winds
962mb central pressure.

Paloma is now a Cat 3 moving at 6mph toward the Islands. NHC says some strengthening is still possible

I cannot believe I am here on the blogs on a work night.. I never blog on work nights but that storm is really something.. the only good thing is it has a small but powerful wind field.

I do hope it is the last storm for this season and I hope to gets sheared to death soon!

you know this "front" that is moving thru florida is not really going to effect our temps much here in SE Florida.

according to my zip code forcast; it says the same thing for the next 4-5 days...high 81, low 65 and on Monday it says in red "TS Poloma"...

so that front may not be taking this storm out to sea like we had hoped..but the wind shear is suppose to knock it out after Cuba takes some of the wind out of it.

we hope.. but for tonight it is baring down hard on the Cayman Islands and our friends there.

not good for our Cayman Island friends.
No one expected this storm to get this strong this fast.

URGENT ADVISORY: HURRICANE PALOMA, 4 p.m. Friday, 7 November 2008, URGENT ADVISORY: HURRICANE PALOMA, From Hazard Management Cayman Islands%u2019 Joint Communications Service

Because of changes to Hurricane Paloma%u2019s forecast path, the entire coast of Grand Cayman is now at serious risk from storm surge and high waves, as hurricane-force winds impact the island later today. Repeat - all coastal areas in Grand Cayman are at high risk! Persons are instructed to move to the highest point in their buildings, particularly if you are in a single-story building. Be sure to take provisions with you

An update providing more information on local weather conditions will be given by 5:00 p.m. today.

Good morning everyone,

It is Friday and morning break at work. Than you all for stopping by.

shore, I know, we all sort of missed the G K L M N O storms LOL actually I was watching them but they were no where near us so didn't really pay attention...

Emmy, glad you have having a Happy Dance party on the deck again.

Scarlet, thank you for your support. I really do not like conflict when it becomes ugly and sometimes I can get as upset as the other side .. I am only human and I do have strong beliefs and passions...There doesn't seem to be any type of civil disagreement here when it comes to politics or religion. I have been trolled and now banned on certain blogs because of my beliefs. And I have apologized to some people that I know I offended and aplogized to others I shouldn't have had to but did anyway.

code! LOL that sounds like a deal! My place all winter, your place all summer... we are a little cool but our best time of the year is about here now. Winter is our beautiful months.

speaking of winter, I had to finally toss my old fire pit last spring and I really need to buy a new one... I love sitting out by the pool watching a fire on these cool nights.

And I truly do hope for the best for our Country. I am an American first and want us to be all the best we can be and continue to be that Shining Ray of Hope in the world. We are not perfect but we are as good as it gets in a non-perfect world.

as Foxx always says "Peace Out" and have a great weekend!

morning! :P
watching this thing out there south of us ... yuck .. thought we were done with cane watching for this year .. sigh ..

one quick comment ... you have a right to express your opinion and should not withhold posting (as you eluded to on Mobal's blog) or commenting when you want to because some people are intolerant and enjoy name calling ... just as I have a problem with people who refuse to accept/respect others have a right to interpret and/or believe "facts" in the way they personally choose. That is sad to me ..

One thing I really have come to respect about you is your willingness to say what you think - whether it is PC, popular or a solitary opinion. Please do not change!

I'm thinking about a big pot of homemade chili for the weekend... with lots of shredded cheese to put on top ...

Glad your job is okay ..

Tare care ! ttyl

Morning, Gamma,

I've been so not paying attention to the weather I actually was a little shocked to see Paloma pop up. I guess I thought that Ike was the end of the season - once Mother Nature pulled that one off, she just went off on vacation or something.

The truly weird thing is that I have no idea WHATSOEVER how we got from "Ike" to "Paloma".
What happened to all those letters in betweeen?
I don't remember a "J" storm, let alone, K,L,M,N, or O. Good grief. They must have been out there.

Well, it looks like Paloma will leave you alone, anyhow. Good on her for that - and good for you that you avoided the layoffs!

Beth, no, not at all. I am amazed at the folks here who are very considerate and open minded and can express their opinions with comfort. Then some must always be angry and strike back with a vengence. I don't want to be angry and I don't want to be a punching bag as it appears I've become in the past 48 hours.

{{{Gamma}}}; The people or person who is harassing you is not worthy of your time. I can't imagine why they've chosen you to pick on, but I hope the problem is taken care of quickly. I also hope I didn't make things worse by my political reference in your last blog about my disappointment in the election, but I think you are right to move on and try to keep things positive and light. Accentuate the positive, eliminate the negative... as the song goes.

We are getting a rainy, fall day, today- but at least the temps are still in the 50's. Yesterday's mid-60's and bright sunshine are gems on November's weather calender and I treasure them! Winter is just around the bend!

Did you have any soup left-over after the hungry mob descended on your blog last evening? :-)
