Nov 30th: Today my street became a "crime scene". When I tried to get home tonight, there is police tape blocking the end of my block.. after sitting there for 30 mins finally the cop talked to me (with my drivers lic for proof I lived here) I had to turn around and go a different way and come into my street thru a back direction... I know that doesn't make sense I live on a "U" street... it doesn't go anywhere.
Anyway.. My Broward Bunch, if you see the story about the "aunt" who stabbed a little 12-14 year old austic nephew in both eyes and then stabbed herself i nthe eyes and no one reported anything for 10 hours.. in Lauderhill.. that is at the end of my street. No one really knows that family.. you know it is one of those families where everyone is very weird and you stay away from them. They are all very "not normal". I will put the piece from the paper as they know it now in my comments. and add what I know about the situation in posts.

Attention all Bloggers: Friday, November 30th.
Our friend, Rob "Spetrm" is having a baby; well rather his wife is actually having the baby. It's a boy and due Dec 20th but they don't think she is going to make it that long. So if you get a chance drop by his winter blog and leave him a post. He just now found out about the baby shower last night! And he hasn't been by his blog yet this morning so will he be surprised. It is their first baby and they are so excited.
.

To clarify the Baby Shower is in Spetrm's Blog today.

And after today I am 6 months Smoke and Nicotine Free!
Still a challenge and I still think about wanting a cig from time to time..but getting a little easier. I understand it will take a year before I am really out of the woods.

Trying to put up the Christmas Countdown Clock here:

NOV 24, 2007:
I finished the Christmas Tree today. I loaded 12 "portraits" of a few of the detail ornaments of the tree and will post them for now. I took out the 2 Thanksgiving day pics. I will put these 12 in now..then later take them out and put in other pics as I get thru this decorating.
Anytime I go anywhere, I buy Christmas Tree ornaments.. I collect them; especially tropical ones. And Everyone who knows me knows if they "draw my name" in a
Secret Santa or what ever, I love unusual Christmas Ornaments. And over the years I've collected many to add to those the kids made. Here are a few:

November 23, 2007:

You knew I couldn't resist not having a Christmas Decorating Blog! Some place for all of us "WANNA BE" Martha Stewarts to drop in from time to time to update their progress.

Well this is the blog. When we need to get off that ladder and take a break.. come here and report your progress...
It will be fun!

I will decorate my blog once I get a little further on my home decorating!!!

Thank you all for stopping by. When I took harley out this morning it appears from what I can see down on my end of the street that all the cop cars are now gone. They were there most of the night. All of the local news had someone on location for their 10pm and 11pm news.

It was horrid.

I appreciate your comments. and yes, something like this could give me nightmares.

Lovely pictures of your tree. We don't put ours up anymore. No one but us would see it and it becomes only a great challange for the cats to climb. LOL

I'm sorry to hear about your neighbors. The holidays seem to spark some bizarre behavior in people. They just go off their rocker.

I hope you can get away from all that horror. I look forward to seeing more holiday pictures. :)

All my best,

Gamms, I saw this kind of situation occur for over 30 years. I was a psychotherapist in a hospital for the criminally insane. The patients stated that god or jesus told them to pluck the "evil" out of their eyes. Mental illness and religion go hand in hand. They are both very subjective, not objective. Anyway, I hope that you and your family have a safe and wonderful holiday season. P.S. Keep up the non smoking mode!!! Your secular friend, Hu

Gams, such a tragedy, in the eyes for gosh sakes!

I worked in the mental health field for years, this is horrifying, absolutely horrifying but not unusual and sad to say the most she will get is a lot of years in an inpatient mental facility.

How do you now explain blindness to an autistic child? Heartbreaking...

I hope those people at child welfare get nailed..Their names released and sprayed for everyone to see that their ineptitude allowed this to happen to a defenseless child suffering from a tragic and horrible disease..I hope they burn.Hopefully your neighbor will clue in the news that she tried to do something and they wouldn't listen.

Bills, so you heard about this also.
Hg, you are so right.

I will be watching channel 7 news at 10pm.. they've been here all day. hubby had his tv on at work for the 5pm news and saw some of our neighbors on tv.

No matter where you live, there are always nut cases and people who....I just don't know how to say it but..so strange and weird and all of us after a while..just try to ignore them and hope they go away soon... and now this little boy has been hurt so badly. But one neighbor tried to do the right thing and report his situation...to no avail...

Geez Gamma- I wish I could say I am surprised, but I'm not, not down here. We've had a few "strange" neighbors too. One family moved in and on the FIRST day their son was chasing my daughter (about 4 years younger than he) with a knife, through MY house. Needless to say, guidelines with that kid were established very quickly. It was a rental house and we all got together and told the owner of the house he needed to rent to better tenats OR ELSE.. lol

He sold it and the new owners put like $170,000 into it.

27,
thank you for stopping by. I went back and looked at my pictures.. I never saw that reflection of me in one of the them! LOL that is cool. thanks for noticiing it...

you have got to see that link bob posted.

From the last I heard the little boy is in the best hospital that takes care of eye sights.. but I just don't see short of an eye transplant how he can ever see again. It is so sad. That poor little boy is mute, austic, has no parents and has to live with nut jobs, his life must be horrible.

Oh yes, someone said the girl told the Police that she saw "The Devil" in the little boy and was told to stab out his eyes. ...

so sad and sick..

Bob, Blu, Hyper,

Things like this don't happen on my street! they happen around the corner or a few blocks over but not on 53rd Street! LOL

Yes this family was alike a bunch of 'strange birds" but we had no idea they were dangerous.

just a few months ago.. they allowed their front yard grass to get like 3 ft tall.. we don't know why.. they drive expenisve cars..but they are nuts... and after some complaints some of the neighbors just paid their lawn service to go cut that family's grass... it was becoming not only an eyesore but nasty.

but we didn't now things had gotten worse there than normal.

one neighbor called HRS or Dept of Child safety or whatever that dept is called.. about that young boy living there with those nut cases.... going to a regular school when he was mentally challenged and deaf mute.

His school bus driver nearly runs over all of us every morning around 6am. goes around the corner on 2 wheels.

but the dept of child warefare told her to mind her own business the boy is ok with his aunt (we think it is really his mother they say his parents are "dead)... and grandmother...

weatherchick,

yes, can you believe it. Our neighborhood is a regular working class neighborhood, mid-class, almost everyone keeps up their homes and yardds and works for a living. most neighbors are friendly with each other a lot of us know each other very well.. but you always have a few of those "strange" familes and this was one of them.
the girl that did the stabbing use to be a real character and I guess she still is.. One of those "Goth" girls..dressed in black, black lipstick etc...

supposedly it was her drug dealing boyfriend who came home and found them both inside and called cops.

Cops are all over the place. we cannot even turn into our street from that direction.

they had the grandparents or whatever who live there also... but the old man died a few mos ago and the old lady is not well herself..no one there is normal...
it is freaky! all the neighbors are going nuts..

Cops: Kin stabbed Lauderhill teen in both eyes
By Joel Marino and Andrew Tran

Sun-Sentinel.com

4:16 PM EST, November 30, 2007

LAUDERHILL

A boy was stabbed by a dagger in both eyes by a family member on Friday at 1 a.m., but authorities were not alerted till 10 hours after the incident.

The autistic and mute child, between 12 and 14 years old, was stabbed at the 8500 block of NW 53rd Street, said Lt. Rick Rocco, a Lauderhill police spokesman. Rocco described the knife as a "fixed-blade" and "military-styled."

Detectives were still trying to determine exactly what happened and in what capacity the family member was involved, said Rocco. However, the family member had also sustained an eye injury, he said.

"It's a pretty gruesome case," he said.

The child was unable to see by the time an emergency unit arrived on the scene, said Lauderhill Fire Rescue spokesman Jeff Levy.

The cause of the incident or the reason for the delay in contacting authorities was unknown.

Both the family member and child were taken to Broward General Medical Center. The child will be transferred to Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami to meet with doctors who specialize in eye injuries, Rocco said.
