Last day of March

By: seflagamma, 12:04 PM GMT on March 22, 2009

Cannot believe today is the Last Day of March.. the year is already 1/4 over... time is flying by!

March 29, 2009:
Oh my goodness, this is one of those times when you are happy beause, your child, my first born son, is 34 years old today, and yes, I am old enough to have a son 34 years old! LOL but on second though perhaps I should start calling him my little brother when we are out in public LOL..One of the good things about being old is because of Greg,(and Pam) I have two grandsons, Cole Joseph, and Ty Mitchell...Greg, you know your Mama Loves you so much!

Sunday, March 22, 2009:
New week, new blog entry.
My house got another 1 1/2 of rain yesterday...add onto 1/4" on Friday and the 6" last Wed..total almost 8" of rain this week. Enough already. Mother Nature Please send some of this rain to the Tampa area!

Later in morning: I have a new FIRST I ran 5 miles in a row non-stop in about an hour .. YIPEE!!! 3 years ago I could barely walk 3 miles!

Once again I am walking in the March of Dimes, March for Babies. It is one of those charities that is near and dear to my heart.
My son, Greg, was born premature almost 34 years ago (March 29, 1975). He is that tall young man that left his wife and two boys for about 6-8 weeks last summer/fall to helped out many in Texas after Ike and then went to the NorthEast after that ice storm last November and barely got home on Christmas Eve. Then his son, my grandson, Ty,was born with a collapsed lung in January 2006. And everyone knows about grandson, Baron, who was born very premature in January 2008 weighing in at 2 lbs 7 oz. The March of Dimes organization has been there each time for our family.

I will walk the 10K again on Saturday April 25, 2009.
I know there are many Portlight fund raising charity events going on and I understand if you donate to them. I have also; they are important. And I understand money is tight in times like we are having today. But if you can and would like to donate to help prevent Birth Defects and Premature Babies I will be happy to walk on your behalf for them. And if you want to join me, come on down! Thank you.

Since this drought is so serious now, bringing back the old drought map I had in the past to show the number of counties what are now fushia. Not good my friends.

And the Dancing Baby is not really doing it's job in producting Rain for us this year but will keep it up a while longer!

I spoke too soon; the Dancing Baby did a great job around my house almost 8" of rain this past week... Go Baby Go!

Spring Vernal Equinox

By: seflagamma, 1:52 PM GMT on March 15, 2009

March 20, airman/Scott posted in #137, #144, & #153
to let us know he is now in Bagdad Iraq.

March 20, 2009 at 7:44am EDT the First Day of Spring will arrive! So many have been waiting on this after such a long cold winter.

"Spring comes in between the 19th to the 23rd of March and at different times. It changes on a yearly basis because the first official day of spring is the (Spring) Vernal EQUINOX. This is when the sun is directly above the equator. It rises due East and sets due West and does not do so on the exact same day every year since the calendar is not exactly 365 precise days every single year. In 2009, spring will arrive on March 20th, as stated above and the sun will be above the equator, crossing to the northern hemisphere at 11:47pm (ish) "

March 18, 2009:
At some point in the wee hours this morning, the rains finally came to my area. Almost 2" as of 9 am. YIPEE !
now as of almost 11am we are over 2" of rainfall.

12:45 pm: now over 3 1/2" of rainfall in my area. Had to get out to run an errand and now we have street flooding. the pool is over flowing and my yard is flooded.
Why does it have to be feast or famine? Why cannot we just get a few inches a week? Wish we could now spread some of this around to others who need some...
We are now at the point, it will be wasted rainfall and our Water District Mgrs will just drain it off into the Ocean.
We need downpours like this to fall over Lake Okeechobee or out in the Everglades or in other areas lakes and water storage areas.
2:30pm, now over 5" of rainfall at my home area.

March 17, 2009:
Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone.
But more important, early this morning about 4am, our friend, airman45/Scott will be on a plane to Baltimore then to Germany, then to Al Udied, Qatar. He will stay there about 3 days before being sent to his site in Iraq.
I know he goes with all our good wishes and prayers to support him along with his wife and two little girls he is leaving behind here in the states.
Good Luck Scott, we are proud of you and Thank You!

3/15/09: added 20 pictures to this header I took this morning of the garden, veggies, herbs and flowers.

Sat. March 14, 2009:
Another week has gone by this year and it is so hard to believe how fast time flies by.

Once again I am walking in the March of Dimes, March for Babies. It is one of those charities that is near and dear to my heart. My son, Greg, was born premature almost 34 years ago. Thur. March 12, 2009:
Today is a special day. Two of our friends have Birthdays Today. AllyBama and Airman/45 (Scott).
Scott does not have a blog so you can leave him special Birthday wishes here it you wish!
Happy Birthday to Ally and Scott!

Tuesday, March 10, 2009:
Grandson Cole, who turned 6 last Saturday, had his first T-Ball game tonight and of course, Gamma was there (Poppy didn't get off work in time). I cannot believe he is already playing ball; seems like just yesterday it was his Daddy on the field and I was "Team Mother" LOL

Here he is #11! his team is the "Atlanta Braves" LOL

His first hit and he is on First Base!

Betsey took this picture of Rylee, Baron and Gamma last week at Butterfly World with her good camera.

And Thank you BarnDweller for my Heart!

March is a busy birthday month for our family:

March 2nd Father In Law will be 81 (remember he had surprise 80th last year)
March 7th Grandson, Cole, will be 6
March 10th Hubby and I will celebrate 24th wedding anniversary.
March 16th, Hubby's sister will be 56
March 29th, Son, Greg, will be 34 (WOW, my kids cannot be that old???LOL)
March 31th, Hubby's other sister will be 54.
A busy month for Hallmark! They should make a profit from our family in March LOL.

And it has Calendar events like beginning of Daylight Savings Time on March 8th and St Patrick's Day on March 17th, and isn't the first day of Spring March 21st? (will have to check if it is 20th or 21st) But Good Friday and Easter falls late this year in Mid-April.

Drought Maps of Florida.
I think the situation is serious enough to need both now.

And the team likes this new Drought Map I got from Rays!

Since this drought is so serious now, bringing back the old drought map I had in the past to show the number of counties what are now fushia. Not good my friends.

And the Dancing Baby is not really doing it's job in producting Rain for us this year but will keep it up a while longer!

Sunday March 8, 2009:
New week, new blog. I will keep my "running/walking" journal in the first post here and soon get some pictures of our finished Master Bath Reno! And of course, keep track of our Trashy Tomatoes we are all doing.... details in Skyepony's blog.

10pm. I got the new MasterBathroom cleaned up some tonight and while it is not finished and still a few odd and end pieces I need to get but I went ahead and took some pictures to share with my friends here... and we all know who we are that love to share our lives!
Just in case you are unaware, this is not only the Master Bath, it is the "Cabana Bath" that has a door outside for the pool area. That is the "door" you see in one of the pictures and probably wondering what is that? LOL
Well, it took 5 weeks to get this job done but it is done. Finally done!

Betsey took this picture of Rylee, Baron and Gamma at Butterfly World last week.

(bathroom remodel pics in post #3..halfway done)

It is March 1, 2009 and another busy month in store. Hope to have the Master Bathroom remodel finished, my garden producing and flowers blooming, and be running 5 miles at a time by months end. I will use this blog to journal my running along with updates on garden and remodel job.
And Most important of all, it will be used for chatting and blogging with all my wonderful WU friends!!!!
So thank you for all your posts and comments and graphics!

March is a busy birthday month for our family:

March 2nd Father In Law will be 81 (remember he had surprise 80th last year)

(Thank You Barndweller for my Heart)

Sure hope this Drought Map greens up a little soon.
I got this new drought map from Rays, much more detail than prev one I've been using for years.

And as weird as it looks the "Dancing Rain Baby" works.

Below are pictures of some of my potted garden. I have many more and lots of herb pots..but they sort of look like last time I took pic of them. The herbs just grown and get clipped back and grow some more, not much change there so didn't post any pics of those pots.
