One year Anniversary No Cig!!

By: seflagamma, 11:57 AM GMT on May 28, 2008

June 1, 2008: Dearly Beloved, our WUBA friends, Aquak9 and Rainman, met each other and found true love on this website and got engaged last year. Today they have become Husband and Wife! Congratuations to both of them and may their marriage be blessed with many years of love and happiness!

May 31st, the day is here. On this day last year I smoked my last cig and have not had even puff since nor any nicotine gum or a cigar or nothing. Clean all the way... I never thought I could do it; I think my family are all as surprised as I am. After so many times of trying and failing no one really thought I could really quit. neither did I! But I did it by taking one day at a time, getting a lot of help from God thru my "begging to help me" prayers, having good support system (WUBAs) and doing a lot of walking/running and working out. Not to mention chasing grandkids.
Working today but will celebrate tomorrow!

May 30, 2008: Back to my anniversary again. Plus we got weather. just declared Invest 90L in Carribean. Very interesting!!!!
We interrupt this Smoke Free Anniversary blog in case some of you are interested in Saving $10 today at a Walgreen's drug store. Just today (last Friday it was $5 coupon) you can go to their website, and get a $10 off coupon for purchase of $30 or more.

Will return to regular blog tomorrow.

On Post 36, I copied the information we are giving out to our employees for Hurricane Preparedness. It includes a lot of info, especially phone numbers for SE Florida.

On May 31, 2007 at 8pm I smoked my last cig. May 28 - May 31, 2007 I only had one cig a day and smoked it at night when I got home from work. It was the hardest thing I have ever done. I had been smoking for about 25 years and had tried to quit at least once a year during the past 10 years. Sometimes I made it a day or two, sometimes for a week or two, or a month. In 2006 I made it 6 mos (but was never nicotine free, I used nicotine gum and smoked cigars on weekends)but was miserable and had so much going on I couldn't handle it anymore.

But in May 2007, I was determined. In the past I had tried the patches 3 different times, the gum several times, the "Smoke Away" system once (at $100), cold turkey and tapes, etc. In May 2007 I used Chantix and for me it helped. I only took it for 8 weeks, not the full 12 weeks you are allowed and the last few weeks I only used one pill a day so I weened myself off. But it is not for everyone because I know some who took it and did not quit. But I think the difference for me was this time I was determined to do it.

I know many here who have quit and been very enouraging to those of us trying to quit. Let's see, Wanda (Oneshot), Rocket, Skye, Crab, and many more that I am forgetting.

All of you that helped me through the rough patches I cannot thank you enough. And anyone that has tried and not made it, please don't give up. Everything you read says it usually takes many attempts before you are successful.

So what is your story? All are welcome to post, smokers or non-smokers alike. You can tell your story OR you can just drop by to say HI. I'm still not out of the woods because I still miss my cigs but it does get easier now and I hope the first year is the hardest. I just thought a One Year Celebration Blog would be in order here because I deserve it! LOL! So My Real 1 year Smoke/Nicotine free anniversary is Saturday May 31, 2008!

And we still need rain so my blog still needs the "dancing baby" and the drought map!

Green/blue are good, Orange/Red/Pink are bad.

Memorial Day, Please Remember

By: seflagamma, 11:44 PM GMT on May 25, 2008

Sunday, May 25, 2008:
Tomorrow is Memorial Day; a Day for us to remember those who have paid the price for the freedoms you and I take for granted. While we are all having fun on our extra day off work; please take a moment to remember those for whom we observe this Holiday.

And we are still not out of the drought so I must continue with the drought map and our famous Rain Dancing Baby!

And our Drought map went from dark red to orange here in Broward County on 5/25/08.

By: seflagamma, 1:03 PM GMT on May 10, 2008

Sat. May 24th: Today is not only my Dad, Papa Joe's birthday it is also Bug's Dad, BigBug's birthday. Bug set up BigBug's blog to celebrate both of their special days. so Happy Birthday to my Dad and Bug's Dad!

Sun. May 18th, It was a Beautiful Sunday in our neck of the woods... I just loaded up 9 pics of today;s family pool party/ BBQ. It was great and had a wonderful time. But now we have cleaned up everything , very tired and going to bed soon... Oh yes.. after all the kids left, we played 3 games of darts and I won 2 of them! YEEEHAWWW!!!

Sat, May 17th. I loaded up 4 pics from last night of Baron's Baby Naming and put in details in posts below. Just too cute and funny. got a busy weekend coming up and very busy day tomorrow. Enjoy your weekend my friends!

Thur, May 15th: I had no idea that Emmy's Dad passed away Tuesday evening until a WUBA friend gave me a call last night at home. I wasn't on blogs yesterday except to update my own yesterday morning. Emmy, my friend, you and your family were in my morning prayers.

Tuesday, May 13, 2008:
(updated pic of Baron at the bottom, just got it in from an email)

Let's try something:
I took a 10 second video of Rylee jumping in pool from one side and swimming to other side this afternoon. going to see if it works here.

oh well, the "RED X" IT didn't work and they cannot approve it... I tried LOL!

I did get a pic of her coming up out of water in her goggles smiling away. Reminded me of the pic of her two years ago as a baby underwater with eyes wide open. Posted both below. that girl is a swimmer! I see from the notes Rylee was little over a year old in the original underwater picture.. and she is now over 2 1/2 years old, will be 3 July 3rd. My oh My how time flies! I removed Rylee's underwater picture when she was 1 year old.. it is in archives anyway! LOL

I finally got Cole's 4K Graduation Picture to save on desktop.. I've been working on that for 4 days now so I can post it here. It is still an "upper corner" pic but at least I got it. And putting up a pic of Ty.. he wasn't happy at the time but still a cute picture.

6:14pm, Betsey just emailed me 3 pics of Baron, I loaded one up here. He is modeling his floppy sun hat he will need when he comes to SE Florida for the first time this Thursday. He is not use to lots of warm weather and sunshine!

May 10, 2008:

Decided I needed a new blog for tomorrow, Mother's Day.
Thanks to all of you that stopped by the previous blog with all my garden pictures and of course the two newest ones of Baron. For now, I won't have pictures here until after I take some tomorrow. But I will put back the "Dancing Baby" and the drought map since we appear to need both these days!
