I am happy to announce that I am providing a new audio stream for WXK56, the NOAA weather radio station serving the Athens, GA area.
The stream is provided by an old Compaq Armada E500 laptop and a docking station that includes a line-level audio input. The computer is running Windows 2000 Professional SP4 and the standalone version of Edcast. Since this machine will be running continuously, I wanted to be as economical as possible with power consumption, and this won't use much more than about 50 watts. I'm using a basic Midland weather radio with its included antenna. I may get an external antenna before long, but reception seems to be fair for now.
