and the season begins here. waiting for 93L to cruise past us and hopefully drop some rain. been very dry here all spring and summer. today there is no air to breathe. and looking out over the north coast the clouds are starting to build. all looks good for an afternoon shower. then we wait to see what this slow moving system will finally decide to do. will post more later. rg

Listening to Helen now.. She says all and all it has been a "good" storm, brought the rains they desperately needed, winds top 40mph (that is verified by the PWS below too)... Thanks for the report!

been steadily pouring for a few hours now. wind steady at around 30 mph with some much higher gusts. looks like we are right under the heaviest convection at the moment. so in other words we are in the worst of harvey right now and its not so bad.
im guessing there will be some damage to underbuilt houses, and maybe a few landslides. surely trees will have fallen but basically structures should be ok. will give a report in the am when i can see things. im supposed to do a radio show in the morning at 9 (our time) on gardening. we'll see if thats going to happen. no biggie, i do a show every saturday on our local radio station. 101.1 fm or www.roatanradio.com
the good news is we got the moisture we really needed. would be happy to share some of this with my friends in tx and fla. dry there too. ok, back to bed. will ck in again soon rg

Oh My Gosh, I hope your paradise is not in the cross hairs again. This is the time of year you seem to pop up. Hope this storm is kind to you. Looks like we here in Florida may in for trouble next weekend. Fingers crossed for both of us. Stay in touch so we know what is happening in your part of the world.

That's just great - I can only imagine how happy Texas is going to be when we finally get our rain. Hope there's no significant damage for you, and lots of good rain.

a few bands have passed with lots of rain and some wind and thunder but now it looks like the main part of the heaviest convection is about to roll down the island. coming from east to west. im about 3/4 of the way to the west on the north coast so its just a matter of maybe 10 or 15 minutes till the skies open again. the jungle all around me is loving this. soaking up this moisture. it already looks greener.

RG! Been watching the storm and thinking of you! Hope the much needed rain is all that. That storm came across us a few days ago and it delivered heavy rain with some flooding in areas. Good Luck!

morning all. thanks for the comments and the info rainman. yes, cosmicevents we are a well forested island without too many very tall mountains. we do get landslides and where some people have overbuilt and removed too many trees we do get some homes damaged or filled with mud but otherwise trees falling on the roads is the worst of it. sometimes docks that are older take a beating. just woke up (4am) to a windy squall. already over. just a few warnings shots. will have everything set by noon for whatever comes. it has been so dry here like many other places the rain that td8 will bring us is very welcome. will be on here all day and evening as long as my internet stays connected. aquak9 and rainman.. come on down.

Nice to see you again for yet another season.
I believe you've told us in the past that your little patch of paradise is better-equipped to handle a TS than most places.
Be safe this season.
