Just maybe. I said maybe, soon I'll be heading home. I tossed my resume out to a company about two months ago and never heard anything back and about a month ago I got a call from them asking me if I was interested in working for them. What? Near home? Sleeping in my own bed at night? Were they kidding? I said maybe. OK, I said let's talk as my heart went racing and my adreniline level topped the charts. I spoke with their opeations manager, someone who I knew and someone that had already talked to someone else that told her she needed to hire me. We then set up an interview for the last time I went home. I met with one of the owners, a New York Italian and had the strangest interview of my life. His first question was "What could I offer the company." I gave a reply and he responded that he could have 60 people in my chair and they would all give the same response. So a bit exasperated I said that it was hard to answer as no one had told me what they expected me to do. He slapped his hand on the desk and shouted, " now that is the answer I was looking for. He never did tell me what the job description was but he did ask again what I could do. So i said whatever I did it would be top quality as if not I could expect no raises, no bonuses and it wouldn't be long before I was out the door. He laughed and said that was one of the three best answers he had heard in 40 years. He told me he wanted to hire me but he was afraid he would not be able to afford me but he would do what he could to make it happen. He sent me off by telling me to write my own job description and salary requirements and e-mail it to him the next day. I did and I added goals, objectives and obstacles. I had a reply soon after from their operations manager saying they were very pleased with what I had written. After two weeks, today I had a call from the Op Mgr and we've set up a conference call for tomorrow.
Now here's where this leads into the QOD. First, I want to be an independent adjuster. I'm trained and licensed but right now it's slow. In fact it's very slow. A new salesman I just hired is an IA with 5 years experience and he hasn't worked in months. Alright, no problem, I can take this job and as storms hit I can wait to be called when the time comes. Now, my concern though with this company is on two occasions they told me they would call me in a couple of days and they haven't. I've called them and been told that the owners have 10 other businesses and things come up and not to worry. That's well and good and maybe I'm reading too much into it, but I think if you tell someone you will call it's very disrespectful to not call them and that's the QOD:
Does it bother you when you don't get a call back as promised?

Well, It's been awhile and time is flying. I will try to keep up with posting. I'm still in Houston. I've been home and back, saw my son go undefeated in regular season of football, my daughter play in her marching band and camp with the oldest and youngest. I did not get nearly enough time with Becky as our schedules were full. Since I've been here, Mary, aka Ihave27windows has invited me to her house to visit a half dozen times or more. Distance, timing and even m...

So I'm reading the strange news and I come across a story about the Varsity Streaking Team. This is the group of college kids that had the documentary showing their streaking exploits about 4 years ago. Yes, I've streaked before. It was during a summer vacation camping trip where we would take out skateboards, climb a trail and then we had about a 3/4 mile downhill run. Late one night, my dad dared myself and my stepbrother to make the run nude and he would give eac...
