Monday's Question of the Day

I read a news article this morning on personal pet peeves about flying. Crying babies, stinking seat mates, gabby people seemed to top the list and one that surprised me, the person who pulls at your seat from behind you as they try to get up. I know what bothers me the most is being confined in a tin can and having to listen to the engine noise hours on end I can't tell you how nice it is to get out of the plane and finally enjoy a little quiet.

I wonder if it's a getting old thing but travelling all together is not as much fun as it used to be. Maybe it's that I live in El Paso and any decent sized city is hours away and the scenery, well, there is no scenery, stinks. I like to drive, but please don't put me in the passenger seat and ask me to sit still for hour upon hour of driving. Not to mention that I'd be bored but I'm also the type of passenger that puts my foot on the imaginary passenger brake, ducks when I think you're going to hit something and offers free driving skills tips. yep, just smack me.

Oh and yes, I will be driving this holiday season and I will be flying soon and I will do my best to be the wonderful car guest but there's no promises and it leads to the QOD:

Do you enjoy travelling?

I have some fine memories of travelling on planes, trains, automobiles and boats.
Very few bad experiences.
So I guess I did enjoy travelling.
The novelty wore off as I got older but what the heck -
Where are we goin'?

Traveling for me is harder than it use to be. I use to be a real roadrunner and on the wknds would always be driving off to some place to camp and hike. Now I much prefer not roughing it anymore, It's an age thing...LOL I like Via rail but totally hate train service in Texas. Took the train from Dallas to San Antonio. Worse trip I ever did. Never again. Don't mind flying so much, I always fly to DFW on a straight flight, no stops so it's only 3 hrs spent on board. I always get the window seat. I do like traveling business class. Lots more leg room and service is so much better. LOL Had a couple of bad experiences but that was due to attendants at the airport and not the flight crew. Usually those are very good, some are downright funny. The only thing I hate is having kids sit behind me pushing the seat with their feet but that soon comes to an end when I tell the stewardess and she has her "talk" with them. I like comfort when traveling these days so yes I fly Business class, travel Business or first class when taking the train. Why not....I have earned it.

I do, but I prefer road trips, as I have had more than my share of flying.
