One of the things I enjoy on FB is the picture posts of things from our past asking if we remember these. Our children will grow up not knowing that the TV once came with a dial to change the channel. Music came on a vinyl disc and the player used a needle to play the sound. We used to only have cartoons on Saturday mornings and on and on. I'm not complaining about any of this, only noting that things change. It's inevitable. well, another has changed today as the Post Office announces that there will no longer be Saturday service. A long standing tradition is kaput, no more, finis and it leads to the QOD:

What long standing traditions do you miss or still enjoy?

alley..i remember party lines...remember as a kid being yelled at to get off the line.....as for respect....i think it falls to it is taught so much differently....giving respect wasn't an option as a child....you will respect your elders...you will respect those in authority over you...you will respect your classmates...etc...then it seemed to change to....respect those who deserve respect...to respect those that respect you...to now...respect those that earn your respect

How about people going out and visiting someone in their home .. now everyone meets in a bar with big screen TV's ..

Another thing you don't see much of and that is fathers playing with their kids .. seems they are too busy or that the kid would rather sit and play video games ..

Kids watching TV .. I don't remember watching more then 1 or 2 hours any given day, and maybe only 5 to 6 hours all week .. now kids watch that much in one day of videos, games, and TV programs ..

One thing I do not miss is the old telephone "party lines" where your neighbors could always listen in on your phone calls and boy did they ever. Gossip was a favorite pastime for most.

Another thing I miss, RESPECT from our younger generation. Seems to be at a premium now days. Sad to see such a lack of it.
